Tate Volleyball Hosting Dig Pink Game Thursday To Support Breast Cancer Research

October 6, 2021

Tate High School Volleyball will host a Dig Pink match Thursday to support the Side-Out Foundation.

The match against Pensacola High School will take place at 6 p.m. in the Fryman Gym. Admission for the event will be $5 and can be purchased through GoFan.

Side-Out dedicates the majority of donations to their own metastatic breast cancer research. In addition to research, Side-Out allocates a portion of their funds to high-quality support services for cancer patients and their families, as well as college scholarships for students.

Significant flooding remains possible across northwest Florida through Wednesday morning, and a flash flood watch is in effect.

Widespread flash flooding is a concern with multiple rounds of very heavy rain through Wednesday. An additional 3-6 inches with isolated higher totals are possible where heavy rain repeatedly moves over the same locations.

Tonight: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 1am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Patchy fog after 1am. Low around 67. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Powerball Jackpot At $685 Million Ahead Of Tonight’s Drawing

The jackpot for tonight’s Powerball drawing has increased to an estimated $685 million, the sixth largest in the game’s history.

The jackpot has rolled over 40 times since the June 9 drawing.

Jackpot winners have the option to receive their winnings in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum cash option of approximately $485.5 million. In addition to the jackpot, players have the chance to win non-jackpot prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million by matching other number combinations.

Flash Flood Watch in Effect Through Tuesday Night

A flash flood watch is in effect through Tuesday night.

The National Weather Service said residents of the North Escambia area can expect multiple rounds of very heavy rain through at least Tuesday night. Total rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are possible with locally higher amounts in areas where showers and storms repeatedly move across the same areas.

This heavy rain combined with saturated soils means flash flooding is likely. Some roads may be flooded or closed.

Vigor At ECHS Atmore Football Game Rescheduled For 4 P.M. Over Security Concerns

October 1, 2021

Tonight’s Vigor High School at Escambia County High School game in Atmore has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. today for security reasons.

“There were some threats of retaliation for some things that had taken place earlier in the year,” Escambia County (AL) Sheriff Heath Jackson said. “Out of an abundance of caution, we are increasing security and addressing the situation by holding in the game in the daylight hours.”

Jackson said their will be an increased law enforcement presence at the game.
