10,000 Pound Food Giveaway In Cantonment Tuesday Afternoon

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a 10,000 pound food giveaway Tuesday afternoon at Carver Park on Webb Street.
The food distribution will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. People should line up their vehicles, single file on Webb Street facing north; food will be loaded into vehicles. Identification is required. (Note: Nearby Louis Street is closed between Washington and Lincoln streets for construction.)

Walnut Hill VFD Annual Fish Fry Is Saturday

The Walnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department will host their 52nd annual fish fry on Saturday.
The fish fry will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Walnut Hill Fire Station at 7760 Highway 97, just north of Ernest Ward Middle School.
Plates will be $10 each with a choice of catfish fillets or grilled chicken, plus baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, homemade bread and cake. There will also be a drawing for door prizes beginning at 1 p.m.

Tonight is the first round of the playoffs in Florida, and two area Alabama teams move into the next round.
Four Escambia and Santa Rosa county teams are in action tonight. 1A Northview will host Bozeman, and West Florida will be at North Marion. In 6A, top-ranked Pine Forest will host Rickards, and Gulf Breeze will be at Mosely. Complete schedules are below.
The Northview game is the only game tonight in North Escambia. The Chiefs are 5-4, while Bozeman is 6-4. The Bozeman Bucks have performed poorly on the road this year, losing four out of five away games. And they have a 135 mile road trip to Northview’s Tommy Weaver Memorial Stadium Bratt.
In Escambia County, Alabama, Escambia Academy and T.R. Miller are still alive.
