Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing Rain Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from midnight Thursday through noon Friday.
Freezing rain is expected with a light icy glaze possible. Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.

Due to the possibility of winter weather Friday morning, all public schools in Escambia County, Alabama, will be closed on Friday.
Friday will be a remote learning day for all students in Escambia County, Alabama, and teachers will send assignments home with students on Thursday. Athletic events scheduled for Friday will continue

Wintry Mix Possible In North Escambia By Friday Morning

The National Weather Service says a wintry mix is possible in the North Escambia area early Friday morning. Freezing rain or ice pellets could mix in with rain leading to light accumulations (yellow area in the map above). Roads and bridges could become icy, leading to travel problems.

10,000 Pound Food Giveaway In Cantonment Tuesday Afternoon

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a drive-thru 10,000 pound food giveaway Tuesday afternoon at Carver Park on Webb Street.
The food distribution will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. People should line up their vehicles, single file on Webb Street facing north; food will be loaded into vehicles. Identification is required.

Parades To Honor Dr. King In Cantonment, Atmore

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. parades will be held Monday in Atmore and Cantonment, while the Pensacola parade has been canceled.
Cantonment
The 15th Annual Cantonment MLK Parade will line-up at 3 p.m. at Carver Park, 208 Webb Street. The parade will begin at 4 p.m.
There are no entry fees required, but it is required that entries have plenty of candy or trinkets for children, and organizers are asking that each car or float display a symbol or picture that pertains to the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Floats, cars, horses and motorcycles are welcome.

The 2022 Pensacola MLK Parade was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Atmore
The Atmore MLK Day Parade will line up at 9 a.m. at the Atmore City Hall and roll at 10 a.m. to Houston Avery Park for a program and lunch. Scheduled participants include the Northview High School NJROTC. Grand Marshal for the parade is Bishop Daryl North, pastor of Empowerment Tabernacle. Guest speaker for the program will be Judge Karean Reynolds.
