ECSO To Host Free ‘Secret Life Of Pets’ Movie Night At The Equestrian Center Tonight

Tonight, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Foundation host a free outdoor movie night at the Escambia County Equestrian Center.

Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the movie “The Secret Life of Pets” will begin soon after. The ECSO K-9 Unit, Mounted Unit and more will be on hand.

Morning Storm Overturns Truck, Causes Other Minor Damage

Minor damage was reported in Escambia County from storms that rolled through the area Wednesday morning.

A small box truck was flipped onto its side in the parking lot in the 1600 block of Nine Mile Road in front of Crumbl Cookies, SportClips and Chipotle. Readers tell us the truck is always parked in that parking lot in the 1600 block of Nine Mile Road, near Hillview Drive.

A few trees were also reported down in the area, and a few thousand Florida Power & Light customers lost power. There was damage reported to a few fences and a screen room at a home not far from Airport Boulevard and Ninth Avenue.

There were no reports of any injuries.

A tornado warning was in effect at the time, but there was no confirmed tornado.

Severe Weather Threat Tonight Into Thursday Morning

A slightly more organized threat of severe weather is expected to develop across the area late this evening into Thursday morning. Some of these storms may linger into the afternoon. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible hazards through Thursday.

Multiple rounds of showers and storms will move across the area through Thursday. Widespread rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches with locally higher totals are forecast. A flash flood watch is in effect.

10,000 Pound Food Giveaway This Afternoon In Cantonment

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a drive-thru 10,000 pound food giveaway Tuesday afternoon at Carver Park on Webb Street.

The food distribution will begin at 3:30 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. People should line up their vehicles, single file on Webb Street facing north; food will be loaded into vehicles. Identification is required.

The event will take place rain or shine
