ECSO: Burglar Caught In The Act

A 19- year old Pace man has been charged with multiple burglaries in Escambia County.
Joseph McGee is in Escambia County Jail is charged with four counts of burglaryy, larceny damaging property burglary – tools possession and drug possession
He was arrested early Sunday after the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office reponded to a burglary in progress on Mirabelle Circle.
Deputies arrived to find mcGee hiding behind a vehilce in a driveway. As deputies approached, he took off running but was soon captured in a backyard. Deputies discovered methamphetamine and blank business checks believed to have been stolen in his pockets.
When deputies returned to the residence they saw that a hatchet was jammed in the storm door in an attempt to pry it open. Additionally, deputies collected a machete and an open pocket knife near where the burglar initially tried to hide, the ECSO said.
McGee was charged with two residential burglaries and a vehicle burglary. He is believed to be a suspect in other burglaries from in Santa Rosa County

Florida Gas Average Gas Prices Fall to 7-Month Lows

Florida drivers saw another round of falling prices at the pump. The state average dropped 10 cents per gallon, last week. Sunday’s gas price average was $3.23 per gallon. That’s the lowest daily average price since early March.
The state average has mostly declined for the past 34 days. During that time, the state average declined a total of 46 cents per gallon.
Gas prices are still falling on the momentum created by the seasonal downturn in fuel demand, coupled with stronger gasoline supplies and the switch to cheaper winter blend gasoline,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “However, this downward momentum may not continue, now that oil and gasoline futures prices logged a second consecutive week of gains.”
The U.S. price of oil logged a small 1% gain last week, amid ongoing concerns about the conflict between Israel and Hamas. In total, U.S. oil has risen $6 per barrel (7%) over the past two weeks. Gasoline futures also rose 11 cents per gallon last week, for a total increase of nearly 20 cents in two weeks.
Pensacola has the cheapest gas of any metro region in Florida at $3.12 per gallon. A North Escambia low of $2.97 was available on Muscogee Road in cantonment Sunday night, while Pensacola prices were as low sas $2.84 on Nine Mile Road.

Escambia Man Gets 25 Years For Producing Child Porn

An Escambia County man has been sentenced to to 25 years in federal prison after previously pleading guilty to producing multiple images and videos of child pornography. The sentence was announced Thursday by Jason R. Coody, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
“Crimes against our children are among the most sinister types of offenses and deserving of the
most significant sentences,” said U.S. Attorney Coody. “Those who produce child pornography
facilitate the abuse of children, robbing them of their innocence. We will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute those who engage in such heinous conduct.”
In February 2023, Joseph T. Holbert, 54 was caught using hidden cameras to film two minor females invarious stages of undressing, and using an outdoor shower to clean themselves, in order to
capture images and videos of them without clothes. The victims were 8 and 9 years old. Law enforcement was alerted to this behavior and seized hidden cameras and Holbert’s cellular telephone. A forensic review of the seized items revealed the child pornography Holbert produced for his own pleasure.
“This sentencing confirms the FBI’s commitment to seek justice for our kids,” said Sherri E.
Onks, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Jacksonville. “Together with our partners, we have
ensured one less predator is victimizing the most innocent and vulnerable members of our
community, and we will continue to dedicate every available resource to identifying and
stopping those who exploit our children.”
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the
growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Launched in May 2006 by the
Department of Justice and led by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Divisions Child
Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), it marshals federal, state, and local resources to
better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well
as to identify and rescue victims.
Holbert’s prison sentence will be followed by lifetime of federal supervised release, and he will
be required to register as a sex offender.
This conviction was the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, and the
Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg
prosecuted the case.

Northview Homecoming Parade To Roll Through Bratt Early This Afternoon

The Northview High School Homecoming Parade will roll through Bratt early Friday afternoon, starting and ending at Northview.
The parade will line up at noon and roll at 12:30 p.m. from Northview High School. It will travel east on Highway 4 before turning on Bratt Road by the Travis Nelson Park, around the park to Ashcraft Road to Highway 99, travel north past Bratt Elementary School, turn back onto Highway 4 and end at Northview. (Note that Ashcraft Road has a very narrow shoulder with no place to park.)
Only parade participants will be allowed to enter Northview’s campus.
The homecoming queen will be named during a ceremony that begins at 6 p.m. Friday in Tommy Weaver Memorial Stadium on the Northview campus. The Chiefs will host the Jay Royals at 7 p.m.
