The Beulah Academy FFA Chapter Forestry team tied for sixth place to take seventh place in the state.
The team took third overall in map interpretation.

Justin Lynn Kent, age 20, was welcomed in the arms of our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was born in Pensacola, FL on January 12, 2003, to his parents, Edwin M. and Julie C. Kent.
Growing up, Justin was a multicultural child who loved life in Costa Rica, Guatemala, England, and Czech Republic. He attended kindergarten at Molino Park Elementary school. Then homeschooled in 1st and 2nd grade through the Florida Virtual Program while his family lived in Costa Rica and Guatemala. Justin attended part of his 3rd grade year back at Molino Park Elementary, as his family prepared to move to England. He spent 4th through 9th grade years in Reigate, England at Sandcross Primary School, and Reigate School. Justin moved to the Czech Republic and completed 10-12 grade at the Christian International School of Prague where he graduated June 12, 2021.
After graduating high school, Justin moved back to Pensacola, FL and enrolled at Pensacola State College in June of 2021. Justin worked as a Ninja Coach at Ninja Trix and at Academy Outdoors. He loved investing in young children, so coaching kids at Ninja Trix was a perfect fit, and the kids adored him. Justin also volunteered during the summers at Camp Okaloosa, a camp for kids, and youth run by the Okaloosa Baptist Association.
He strived to help others see the best in themselves and to grow. Justin had an infectious personality and smile. He connected so well with others and people connected with him.
Due to his multicultural life, his church families were Upward Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill, Highland Baptist Church (FL), Reigate Baptist Church (England), Heart Prague (Czech Republic), and Upward Church.
Justin is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lynnwood M. Kent; and his maternal grandparents, Jimmy B. and Virginia S. Cato.
He is survived by his father, Edwin M. Kent; mother, Julie C. Kent; sister, Meagan B. (Philip) Camarda and nieces, Kathlynn and Michaela; grandmother, Margaret Kent; aunt, Jessica (Bobby) Washington and cousins, Bobby and Mydis Washington; aunt, Jennifer (Brian) Lucas and cousins, Kobi and Kyler Lucas.
Special Acknowledgements: To God for the Twenty special years that he gifted us with Justin here on earth.
Justin’s service will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023, at Highland Baptist Church, 6240 Highway 95 A, Molino, FL. The family invites friends to join them at 1:00 p.m. for the visitation and the service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Okaloosa Baptist Associations Camp Okaloosa, at 102 Edney Avenue E, Crestview, FL 32539, in memory of Justin Kent.

FHP Releases Blurry Suspect Vehicle Photo In Fatal Hit And Run Crash That Killed Molino Man

Update: Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol released the photo above.
“Although the photo is extremely blurry, we believe the vehicle is possibly a silver or light blue Dodge Challenger with loud exhaust. Passenger side damage with airbag deployment, as well as one maybe even two of the side windows shattered from impact, FHP said.
The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for clues about a hit and run driver after a 20-year old motorcyclist from Molino was killed in a hit and run Wednesday night in Beulah.
The crash happened about 8:45 p.m. on West Nine Mile Road and Allegheny Avenue. Troopers said an unknown type of passenger vehicle turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash. The Molino man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect vehicle may have both right side windows shattered and may be grey or silver, troopers said.
Anyone with information is asked to call *FHP (*347), Crime Stoppers, or 911.

Find that Perfect Pet: Escambia County Animal Shelter Now Open On Sundays

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is pleased to announce it will begin extended holiday hours starting Sunday, Nov. 5. The Animal Welfare and Adoption Center will open on the following Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the remainder of the year to allow the public additional opportunities to adopt:

- Nov. 12
- Nov. 19
- Nov. 26
- Dec. 3
- Dec. 10
- Dec. 17
The facility will be closed to the public for the following holiday dates:
- Nov. 10 – Veterans Day
- Nov. 23-24 – Thanksgiving
- Dec. 24-25 – Christmas
- Dec. 31-Jan. 2 – New Year’s
“One of our priorities at the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is to get animals out of our facility and into their forever homes,” said John Robinson, Director for the Department of Animal Welfare. “We do this through adoptions and reuniting lost pets with their families. During this holiday season, thanks to help from our other county departments, we have the ability to be open on Sundays to provide more of these opportunities for everyone. Our long-term goal is to provide these new hours on a permanent basis. We believe this is a benefit to the animals in our facility and the members of our community.”
The Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center is located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive. Hours of operation Friday from 12-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Northview’s Playoff Hopes End With Loss On The Road To The Undefeated Bozeman Bucks

The Northview Chief’s state championship hopes came to an end Friday night on the road in a 37-31 loss to the undefeated Bozeman Bucks in 1-Rural regional semi-final action Panama City.
The 10-0 Bucks were ranked No. 5. in 1-Rural.
Quarterback Wyatt Scruggs was in from 55 yards the for the touchdown to the pu the Chiefs on the board first, 7-0.
Joe Wright added a Northview TD from 22-yards out in the second quarter to give NHS a 14-6 lead. Bozeman scored on the kickoff to tie it 14-14.
Northview went up 21-14 with a 7-yard touchdown from Tyler Ragan.
Bozeman (11-0) will take on Holmes County next Friday night after Holmes defeated Chipley 26-7.
Northview’s season endeda at 4-7.

John Jimmy ‘Pops’ Roley, Sr.

John Jimmy “Pops” Roley, Sr., age 74, of Bratt, FL passed away on November 15, 2023. He was born on March 5, 1949 in Bratt, FL to Joe and Anna Mae Ledkins Roley. He retired from the Utility Services of Gulf Breeze and enjoyed spending his time working on his farm. He also was a Shriner. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mickey Diane Nichols Roley and his siblings, Joe Roley, Jr., Donald Roley and Helen Flirt.
He is survived by his sons, John (Charlotte) Roley of Bratt, FL and Kenneth (Sherry) Roley of Davisville, FL; his brother, David (Pam) Roley of Bratt, FL; his sisters, Ann (Roy) Lowery of Bratt, FL and Mary Gordon of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Tyler (Allison) Roley and Savannah Roley; two step grandchildren, Sara Rolin and Alyssa Barber and his great grandchild, Elijah Roley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tyler Roley officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL.
Active pallbearers will be Craig Lowery, Donald Roley, Bo McGhee, Jordan Lee, Wayne Gunn and Tom Koehler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Roley, III, Gary Roley, Bill Lee and Carly Edwards.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, AL.

Mildred Hadley Drew

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my life partner and the love of my life.
Mildred Hadley Drew, age 85, of Pensacola, FL passed away on November 13th, 2023, at 5:35 pm, peacefully at home. She was born on March 25, 1938, in McCullough, AL to Robert Lee Hadley and Adelia Weaver Hadley. Mildred was a member of Innerarity Point Baptist church. She worked at Monsanto and retired from there at age 55.
Mildred met the love of her life, Wilburn Cleo Drew, at a square dance in Atmore. She danced her way into his heart and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years of happiness together. She took pride in her children and grandson.
Mildred enjoyed life and loved her family with all her heart. She never met a stranger and was quick to offer a kind word, a compliment, or encouragement. She was extremely generous and warm-hearted and had a nickname for everyone she met. She loved to sing, and play the piano, and knew more about pop music than most teenagers.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Byron Keith Drew and Michael Cleo Drew, her brothers, Robert and Roger Hadley, and sisters Helen Boone, and Betty Allison.
She is survived by her husband, Wilburn Cleo Drew, her son Barry Kirk Drew (Kymberley) and daughter Tonia Anderson (Rex) her grandson Barry Kirk Drew Jr. (Jessica), and great-grandchildren Easton and Havanah Drew. Her brother Rex Hadley, sisters Syble Montgomery, Pat De Armond, and Peggy McGhee.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Lottie New Home Cemetery in Lottie Alabama with Dr. Joe McClellan officiating.
