Northview Beats Chipley; Tate Falls To Gulf Breeze

Northview 17, Chipley 3

The Northview Chiefs beat the Chipley Tigers 17-3 Tuesday night in Chipley.

Jase Portwood went 3-3 to drive in six runs on three hits to lead the Chiefs with a two-run double in the first and fifth innings, along with a two-run single in the sixth.

Jackson Bridges, Bryant Mason, and Grayden Sheffield each scored two runs for the Chiefs.

Gayson Burns earned the win on the mound for Northview, surrendering two hits and three runs (two earned) while walking three and striking out nine in five and one-third innings. Mason threw two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit and no runs, striking out two.

Northview will host Holmes County on Thursday before traveling to Destin on Friday.

Gulf Breeze 3, Tate 0

The Tate Aggies fell to Gulf Breeze 3-0 on Tuesday night in Gulf Breeze.

Beasley took the loss for the Aggies. He went three and one-third innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking four. In two and two-thirds innings, Hunter Clayton allowed one hit and no runs, striking out two and walking none.

Nathan Connors, Cade McNair, Cooper Halfacre, and Cal Foxworth each contributed one Tate hit.

The Aggies will take on Fort Walton on Thursday and Escambia on Friday at Wahoos Stadium.

Tate Aggies Shut Out Choctaw 15-0: Mitchell Drives In Five; Padgett Throws No-Hitter

The Tate Lady Aggies shut out the Choctawhatchee Indians 15-0 on Monday night.

Kayla Mitchell collected five RBIs on three hits in Fort Walton Beach on Monday. Mitchell accounted for three with a home run to center field in the third inning and added two runs on a double in the second.

Madison Smillie also had three hits for Tate, while Jordyn Banks and Brelynn Morris added two hits each.

Mykamia Padgett pitched a four-inning no-hitter, allowing no runs, walking two and striking out 10.

Next up, the Lady Aggies will travel to Niceville on Thursday.

Tate 14, Choctaw 5 (JV)

In JV action, the Lady Aggies beat Choctaw 14-5.

In the circle, Faith Middleton earned the win for Tate, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) in two innings, walking one and striking out five. In relief, Khloe Gibson pitched one inning, giving up two runs (none earned) while walking two and striking out one.

Middleton and Mikela Foster had two hits each for THS.

Here’s What To Know As Jay Lady Royals Basketball Heads To The State Final Four

It’s been nearly three decades, 28 years in fact, since a Jay High School girls basketball team made the state Final Four in the Rural Division

Last week, the Lady Royals beat Chipley 51-44 to seal the deal.

Jay will travel to UNF Arena at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville for the semifinals on Tuesday, February 24, ahead of the state championship game on Friday, February 27.

The team is seeking help with travel expenses. Donations by cash or check can be made Monday morning at the Jay High School front office.

The Lady Royals last made the Final Four back in 1998.

JV Northview Chiefs Go 2-1 At Weekend Tournament With Big Win Over Opp

The junior varsity Northview Chiefs went 2-1 in the T.R. Miller JV Tournament, with rain cancelling their final game.

J.U. Blacksher 6, Northview 0 (JV)

J.U. Blacksher JV from Uriah, Alabama, defeated the JV Northview Chiefs on Friday 6-0. Brooklynn Allen faced 24 batters, allowing no hits and six runs while walking seven and striking out five. Kiley Webb and Natalia Morales each had a hit for the JV Chiefs.

Northview 4, Pace Red 2 (JV)

On Saturday, the JV Northview Chiefs defeated the Pace JV Patriots Red team 4-2. Brooklynn Allen pitched a complete game, five innings, allowing four hits and two runs (one earned), while striking out six and walking five. Presley Davey went 2-3 for the Chiefs at the plate.

Northview 15, Opp 3 (JV)

The JV Northview Chiefs earned a big 15-3 win over Opp, Alabama, on Saturday. Addyson Boleyn had five runs on three hits with a two-run triple in the first, a two-run double in the third, and a single in the fourth. Brooklynn Allen surrendered three runs and no hits in four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Lady Aggies Rebound From Early Losses To Down Foley In Tournament Play

The Tate Lady Aggies dropped two but got final game redemption during a Saturday tournament at Foley High School. Friday play was canceled by weather.

Fairhope 4, Tate 3

The Tate Lady Aggies fell 4-3 to the Fairhope Pirates on Saturday. Sarah Mitchell took the loss for the Aggies. She went for two innings, surrendering three runs on one hit, striking out two and walking five. MyKamia Padgett allowed two hits and one run in three innings, walking two and striking out three. Jordyn Banks and Madison Smillie each had one hit for the Aggies.

Spanish Fort 7, Tate 1

The Spanish Fort Toros defeated the Tate Lady Aggies 7-1. Sarah Mitchell was in the circle for two innings for the Aggies. She surrendered three hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one. MyKamia Padgett pitched one inning, allowing four runs and striking out one. Jordyn Banks, Taylor Robinson, and Madison Smillie each collected one hit.

Tate 6, Foley 2

The Tate Aggies downed Foley 6-2. Taylor Robinson went 3-3 at the plate for the Aggies, and Madison Smith had two RBIs. Relstab earned the Aggie win, surrendering three hits and two runs (one earned) in a complete game, five innings, striking out three and walking one.

Tate Bats Explode in Double-Digit Win Over North Bay Haven (With Gallery)

The Tate Aggies beat North Bay Haven Academy of Panama City 11-2 on Friday night in Cantonment.

Starting pitcher Nathan Connors earned the win for the Aggies, allowing two hits and two unearned runs in four and two-thirds innings, walking a half dozen and striking out eight. In relief, Hunter Clayton pitched one-third of an inning of scoreless, runless ball, striking out one.

Evan Taylor went 3-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run home run to center field in the fifth inning. Cal Foxworth was 3-3 with one RBI, while Griffin Cook went 2-3.

Early Northview Chiefs Lead Evaporates In One-Run Loss To The Escambia Gators (Gallery)

After leading 5-1 at the end of three innings, the Northview Chiefs dropped a Friday night home game 6-5 to the Escambia Gators.

Jackson Bridges opened on the mound for the Chiefs, giving up five hits and five runs (three earned) in four and one-third innings, recording eight strikeouts and three walks. Jase Portwood went two and two-thirds innings, giving up one run and two hits, walking four and striking out three.

Luke Chavers, Taylor Curtis, Kobi Fiorenti, Dane King, Bryant Mason, and Grayden Sheffield each had one hit for Northview. Mason had two RBIs, and Portwood added one.

The Navarre Raiders brought a powerful offensive attack to Cantonment on Friday night, defeating the Tate Aggies 22-3

Kira Bigalow led the Aggies’ scoring, accounting for all three of the team’s goals. Tori Sappington contributed on both ends of the field, recording an assist and leading the team with 8 draw assists.

Carly Helmig was active in the net, facing a relentless barrage of 32 shots on goal and finishing the night with 17 saves

Baseball: Tate Varsity Falls To Crestview; JV And Freshmen Earn Wins

The Crestview Bulldogs defeated the varsity Tate Aggies 5-3 on Thursday night.

Nathan Connors led the Aggies at bat with two hits. Kannon Ham and Kaden Posta each added a hit.

Starting pitcher Lance Brady went four innings for Tate, giving up three hits and three runs (none earned) while striking out five and walking one. Keelan Beasley was on the mound for two innings, surrendering two runs, no hits, walking one and striking out one.

Tate 11, Crestview 4 (JV)

The JV Aggies beat the Crestview Bulldogs 11-4 on Thursday.

Caileb Javier surrendered six hits and four runs (two earned) in five and one-third innings, walking one and striking out six. Camden Seifert threw one-third of an inning, allowing no hits, no runs, no walks and striking out one.

Jordan Edmond, Trent Godwin, and Mason Williams each had two hits for Tate. Edmond and Godwin each also recorded two RBIs.

Tate 15, Elberta 2 (Freshmen)

The freshmen Tate Aggies powered past the Elberta Freshmen Warriors 15-2 on Thursday.

Brayden Luciano earned the win for the Aggies, giving up one hit and no runs in three innings, striking out three and walking none.

Grayson McLellan went 3-4 for Tate, while Trent Madden was 2-4.

Womack Homers As Northview Softball Beats West Florida 18-4

The Northview Lady Chiefs beat the West Florida Jaguars 18-4 on Thursday night.

Peyton Womack drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Chiefs to the electric win. The University of Montevallo commit had a two-run double in the seventh, a solo home run to right field in the fourth, and a sacrifice fly to score one in the fifth.

Davonia Randolph was on fire, going 5-6 at the plate. Kyel Langham and Aubrey Hadley each added two hits.

In the circle, MiKayla McAnally earned the win for Northview, allowing 10 hits and four runs (three earned) in a complete seven innings, striking out six and walking none.

Next up, the 1-0 Chiefs will host Pace on Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m.
