Northview Chiefs Improve To No. 2 In Region, No. 7 In State

The Northview Chiefs moved up a spot this week to to No. 2 in the region and are ranked No. 7 in the state in the latest 1A rankings released Tuesday by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
In Region 1-1A, the Chiefs are ranked behind Baker, ranked No. 1 in the state.
Region 1-1A rankings are as follows (listed as school, RPI, record):
- Baker 0.682 (9-0)
- Northview 0.619 (6-2)
- Vernon 0.607 (6-3)
- Freeport 0.576 (6-3)
- Graceville 0.545 (6-3)
- Jay 0.514 (4-5)
- Holmes County 0.475 (4-5)
- Cottondale 0.414 (2-7)
- Chipley 0.408 (1-8)
Teams are ranked based upon a RPI formula. RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index. In short, it is a way to measure a team’s strength relative to other teams, based largely on the strength of their schedules.
Northview will face Jay this Friday night in Jay, while Baker will face No. 3 Blountstown in Panama City in a battle of the undefeateds.
Teams are ranked based upon a RPI formula. RPI stands for Ratings Percentage Index. In short, it is a way to measure a team’s strength relative to other teams, based largely on the strength of their schedules.

Northview Assistant Coach Gets Head Shaved After Losing Touchdown Bet

Northview Assistant Coach Tyler Reeves made a bet with players Trent Peebles and Jayden Jackson that one or both of them could not score three touchdowns last Friday night against Chipley or he would shave his head.
He lost.
Jackson scored not three but four touchdowns.
And Reeves is now sporting a new style.
Jackson, a Boston College recruit, had nine carries, 160 yards for two touchdowns; one catch for 44 yards and a touchdown; and he was 2-2 passing for 23 yards and a touchdown.

Tate Aggies Fall To Chiles, Celebrate Senior Night And HOCO Part II (With Photo Gallery)

It was a night of many emotions Friday night for the Tate High School Aggies as they Tate High School Aggies celebrated Senior Night, Homecoming Part II, and worried about a player taken away by ambulance.
The Aggies fell to Tallahassee Chiles 45-7.
Tate’s lone score of the night came on a pass from senior Ethan George to junior Keishawn Qualls with a good extra point kick from Matthew Johnson.
The Homecoming Court, including Queen Tayler Mills, first runner-up Avery Young, and second runner-up Baylor Phillips, had a chance to walk across the field after the October 18 homecoming game was postponed by Tropical Storm Nestor. And one homecoming court member, Payton Simmons, was escorted by six Escambia County deputies [learn why by clicking here].
After taking a hard hit, Tate Aggie Jacori Simpkins was transported to the hospital for treatment. According to the Tate Quarterback Club early Saturday morning, Simpkins was in good spirits and was allowed visits from his teammates and coaches.
The Tate Aggies (1-8. 0-2) will wrap up their season next Friday night at West Florida (1-7, 1-2).

Northview Beats Chipley 52-14
October 26, 2019
The Northview Chiefs cruised past the Chipley Tigers 52-14 Friday night in Chipley.
Jayden Jackson racked up four touchdowns for the Chiefs, while Ben Wilson added a couple of touchdowns.
The Northview Chiefs (6-2) will wrap up their regular season next Friday night at Jay (4-5). The Royals are coming off a 49-35 loss to Bozeman Friday night.
Prior to Friday night’s game, the Chiefs were ranked No. 3 in the District behind Baker and Vernon. Baker beat Port. St. Joe 27-21 Friday night, but Vernon lost to Blountstown 42-13. Updated rankings will be released Tuesday by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

Northview Boys, Four Individual Runners Place At Districts, Advance To Regionals

The Northview High School Boys Cross Country team placed fourth overall Thursday in District 1-2A competition in Tallahassee and will advance to regionals.
In addition, four individual Northview runners will advance to regionals. They are Noah Harigel, Colby Morris, David Lamb and Kara Santorelli.

After a bye week last Friday night, the Northview Chiefs slipped to No. 3 in the region and No. 8 in the state in the latest 1A rankings released Tuesday by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
In Region 1-1A, the Chiefs are ranked behind Baker, ranked No. 1 in the state, and Vernon, ranked No. 6 in the state.

ECHS Earns JV Win Over Northview On Final Play Of Game

The Escambia County High Blue Devils defeated the Northview Chiefs 24-20 Thursday night in junior varsity football action.
The Blue Devils earned the victory with the go ahead score on the final play of the game in Bratt.
It was the final game of the season for the JV Chiefs.

Tate Drops Fierce Battle With Washington (With Photo Gallery)
October 20, 2019
The Tate Aggies lost a fierce battle with the Washington Wildcats 51-31 Saturday afternoon in a game postponed a day by Tropical Storm Nestor.
The Wildcats took an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter before the Aggies tied it at seven all on a Keaton Solmonson touchdown and a good kick from Matt Johnson.
With a field goal through the uprights from Johnson, the Aggies then took a 10-7 lead over Washington.
The Aggies had touchdowns from Keontral Culpepper, Kesean Williams and second from Solmonson to round out the afternoon.
The Tate Aggies are now 1-7 on the season, while the Washington Wildcats improved to 8-0.
Next Friday night, the Aggies will host Tallahassee Chiles (4-3) for Senior Night in Pete Gindl Stadium. The were also be a representation of the homecoming court.
