30,000 Pound Thanksgiving Meal Distribution Held Saturday In Beulah

A 30,000 pound Thanksgiving food distribution was held Saturday morning at Beulah Church.
The food distribution was to help those who may be struggling and going through a hard time to supplement their family Thanksgiving. There was full Thanksgiving meal available for the first 300 families.
Rep. Michelle Salzman and Beulah Church in partnership with Farm Share and other community partners Sponsored the distribution along with Commissioner Steven Barry, Congressman Matt Gaetz, Kevin Stephens, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Ascend Cares, The Butcher Shoppe, International Paper, Florida Power and Light, Beulah Church, Escambia County Council PTA, Aaron Erskine, State Farm Tyler Kercher, Escambia County Council PTA, Thompson Trucking, & other community partners are joining in the effort.

Beulah Academy FFA Chapter Forestry Team Takes Seventh In The State

The Beulah Academy FFA Chapter Forestry team tied for sixth place to take seventh place in the state.
The team took third overall in map interpretation.
Luke Graham was the high scoring individual in map interpretation.

FHP Releases Blurry Suspect Vehicle Photo In Fatal Hit And Run Crash That Killed Molino Man

Update: Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol released the photo above.
“Although the photo is extremely blurry, we believe the vehicle is possibly a silver or light blue Dodge Challenger with loud exhaust. Passenger side damage with airbag deployment, as well as one maybe even two of the side windows shattered from impact, FHP said.
The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for clues about a hit and run driver after a 20-year old motorcyclist from Molino was killed in a hit and run Wednesday night in Beulah.
The crash happened about 8:45 p.m. on West Nine Mile Road and Allegheny Avenue. Troopers said an unknown type of passenger vehicle turned left in front of the motorcycle, causing the crash. The Molino man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect vehicle may have both right side windows shattered and may be grey or silver, troopers said.

Find that Perfect Pet: Escambia County Animal Shelter Now Open On Sundays

The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is pleased to announce it will begin extended holiday hours starting Sunday, Nov. 5. The Animal Welfare and Adoption Center will open on the following Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the remainder of the year to allow the public additional opportunities to adopt:
- Nov. 5
- Nov. 12
- Nov. 19
- Nov. 26
- Dec. 3
- Dec. 10
- Dec. 17
The facility will be closed to the public for the following holiday dates:
- Nov. 10 – Veterans Day
- Nov. 23-24 – Thanksgiving
- Dec. 24-25 – Christmas
- Dec. 31-Jan. 2 – New Year’s
“One of our priorities at the Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare is to get animals out of our facility and into their forever homes,” said John Robinson, Director for the Department of Animal Welfare. “We do this through adoptions and reuniting lost pets with their families. During this holiday season, thanks to help from our other county departments, we have the ability to be open on Sundays to provide more of these opportunities for everyone. Our long-term goal is to provide these new hours on a permanent basis. We believe this is a benefit to the animals in our facility and the members of our community.”
The Escambia County Animal Welfare and Adoption Center is located at 200 W. Fairfield Drive. Hours of operation Friday from 12-5 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Northview’s Playoff Hopes End With Loss On The Road To The Undefeated Bozeman Bucks

The Northview Chief’s state championship hopes came to an end Friday night on the road in a 37-31 loss to the undefeated Bozeman Bucks in 1-Rural regional semi-final action Panama City.
The 10-0 Bucks were ranked No. 5. in 1-Rural.
Quarterback Wyatt Scruggs was in from 55 yards the for the touchdown to the pu the Chiefs on the board first, 7-0.
Joe Wright added a Northview TD from 22-yards out in the second quarter to give NHS a 14-6 lead. Bozeman scored on the kickoff to tie it 14-14.
Northview went up 21-14 with a 7-yard touchdown from Tyler Ragan.
Bozeman (11-0) will take on Holmes County next Friday night after Holmes defeated Chipley 26-7.
Northview’s season endeda at 4-7.

Cantonment Woman Charged With Felony For Hitting Her Boyfriend In The Head With A Vase, ECSO Says

A Cantonment woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly hitting her boyfriend in the head with a vase. Sallie Eva Denise Jimenez, 37, was charged with felony aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
Sallie Eva Denise Jimenez and her boyfriend allegedly became involved in an argument over missing keys. He said she struck him on the back of the head with a vase, causing his ear to bleed. He was evaluated by Escambia County EMS but refused transport to the hospital.
Deputies determined that Jimenez was the primary aggressor in the altercation, according to an arrest report.
She was released from jail on a $7,500 bond.
Contractor Jesse LaCoste Wanted By ECSO

Embattled local contractor Jesse LaCoste is wanted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for fraud/swindling, deputies said Thursday afternoon.
