Three Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 135 New Cases Reported Monday In Escambia County

Three new COVID-19 deaths and 135 new cases were reported Monday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.
Escambia County’s deaths were a 53-year old male, 79-year old female and a 40-year old male. One was a long-term facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased to 5,900 and Santa Rosa case county was up 67 to 1,976.
Of the 880 tests results returned on Sunday in Escambia County, 12.5% were positive and 16.4% were positive from 347 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.2%.
There were 217 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 61 deaths in Escambia County, 43 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 13 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and two in a long-term care facilities.
Statewide, there were 360,394 cases including 355,899 Florida residents. There have been 21,263 hospitalizations* and 5,072 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

10,000 Pound Food Giveaway Tuesday At Carver Park In Cantonment

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a food distribution on Tuesday, July 21 at Carver Park, 208 Webb Street. There will be 10,000 pounds of food distributed, including meats, fresh fruits, vegetables and more.
The food distribution will begin at 3 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. Line up on Webb Street facing north.

One new COVID-19 death and 208 new cases were reported Sunday in Escambia County, while 87 new cases and two deaths were reported in Santa Rosa County.
Escambia County’s death was an 88-year old female that was a long term care facility resident. Santa Rosa’s two deaths were females are 78 and 81. One was a long-term care facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased to 5,765 and Santa Rosa case county was at 1,909.
Of the 1,761 tests results returned on Saturday, 9.6% were positive in Escambia County and 14.6% were positive from 510 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.2%.
As of Saturday, there were 217 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 57 deaths in Escambia County, 42 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 13 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and two in a long-term care facilities.

Alabama’s Back To School Sales Tax Holiday Ends Today

Alabama’s 15th annual back to school sales tax holiday is underway.
It ends at midnight Sunday, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, books and clothing free of the state’s four percent sales or use tax.
Most individual cities and counties are also waiving local sales taxes.
Exempt items include:
- clothing priced at $100 or less per article;
- school supplies valued at $50 or less per item;
- books that cost $30 or less per book; and
- tablets, laptops, computers and printers with a selling price of $750 or less.

One additional COVID-19 death and 211 new case were report Saturday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.
The fatality was a 81-year old male long-term care facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased 5,557 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 82 to 1,822.
Of the 1,170 tests results returned on Friday, 14.2% were positive in Escambia County and 21.8% were positive from 301 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.2%.
As of Saturday, there were 202 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 57 deaths in Escambia County, 41 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 13 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and on in a long-term care facility.

Give Blood Saturday At The Molino Branch Library

The OneBlood Big Red Bus will be at the Molino Branch Library on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
OneBlood is testing all blood donations for the COVID-19 antibody. The antibody test is authorized by the FDA and will indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether they ever showed symptoms. Donors must be symptom free for 14 days.

The Florida Department of Health on Friday reported one new death in Santa Rosa County as cases in the two-county area increased by 369.
The fatality was a 64-year old male that did not live in a long-term care facility.
Escambia County cases increased 292 to 5,346 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 77 to 1,740.
Of the 1,737 test results returned on Thursday, 13.6% were positive in Escambia County and 12.7% were positive from 575 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.2%.
As of Thursday, there were 207 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 56 deaths in Escambia County, 40 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 13 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and on in a long-term care facility.
