East Hecker Road Closed Wednesday In Century Just Off Highway 29

East Hecker Road in Century will be closed Wednesday, June 23.
The roadway will be closed for a water leak repair from 7:30 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m. from North Century Boulevard (Highway 29) to Bradley Street. Drivers can detour along Bradley street around Nadine McCaw Park to/from Highway 29.

Pfizer Vaccine Available In Century Today

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination will be available in Century today from Community Health Northwest Florida.
The vaccine will be available to anyone ages 12 and up from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Century Pediatrics at 501 Church Street (go to the “dental” entrance on the side of the building).

Meeting Wednesday Night To Discuss Longleaf Drive Improvements

A public meeting will be held Wednesday night discuss improvements to Longleaf Drive in the area of Pine Forest High School and other school campuses.
Improvements will be discussed on Longleaf Drive from Pine Forest Road to Marcus Bayou Bridge during the meeting from 5:30-7 p.m. at Longleaf Elementary School, 2600 Longleaf Drive.
Longleaf Drive is being redesigned to include improved mobility for vehicles and pedestrians connecting our neighbors to schools, parks and businesses within the corridor. Improvements include roadway, drainage, lighting, bridge, landscaping and a new trail within the existing rights-of-way. This will be a meeting to share concerns and opportunities with county staff, including District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh.

Flood Warnings For Escambia And Perdido Rivers; Barrineau Park Bridge Submerged

Water was over the Barrineau Park Bridge at the state line over the Perdido River Saturday afternoon. Full size trucks were unable to make it across, according to local residents.
Flood warnings continued Sunday morning for the Perdido River near Barrineau Park and the Escambia River at Century. Both were expected to crest just over flood stage. The Perdido River is expected to fall below flood stage Sunday; the Escambia River is not forecast to crest until Monday.

Molino Tornado Caught On Camera

A local storm spotter caught an apparent tornado on camera this morning near Molino.
A tornado warning was in effect with radar confirming a strong rotation as the storm moved from Barrineau Park and across Highway 29 north of Highway 97 about 8:30 a.m.
Asa Schlobohm captured the images, and below has highlighted the rain-wrapped tornado since it is difficult to see.
There were no injuries or damage reported.
