More Details Released: Two Jailed After Molino Manhunt; One Captured Near Daycare
February 21, 2020
UPDATED- Two people are now charged in a connection with burglaries and vehicle thefts that led to a lengthy manhunt Thursday in Molino.
Christopher Robert Howard was taken into a custody in a wooded area by deputies and a K-9 team around 11 a.m. Thursday He was charged with two counts of vehicle theft and booked into jail on a $11,000 bond.
Jack David Inman, 25, is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), burglary, grand theft, vehicle theft and criminal mischief with property damage. He’s being held on a $41,000 bond.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said the duo stole a pickup truck in the Lillian Highway area early Thursday morning. The suspects then headed to North Escambia where they stole two four-wheelers and tried burglarizing a vehicle. That’s when a resident walked out and caught them in the act about 7:30 a.m. A struggle followed between the homeowner and at least one of the suspects.
Late Thursday afternoon, a K-9 team apprehended Jack David Inman, 25, near the Providence Early Learning Center on Quintette Road near Carrington Lakes Boulevard.
According to ESCO Maj. Andrew Hobbs, Howard originally implicated Nicholas Pierce as his accomplice and picked him out of a photo lineup. It was soon learned the Pierce, who has multiple facial tattoos, was actually in state prison while Inman, the actual suspect, does not have facial tattoos. Howard is expected to face additional charges as a result.
Inman was positively identified by victims, and is reportedly seen in the video below of a four-wheeler being driven away from Stout Road and across traffic on Highway 29.
The stolen vehicles were recovered, Hobbs said.

ECSO: No Credible Threat Against Ernest Ward Middle, Student That Found Note Likely Created It
February 21, 2020
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says the student that claimed to find an alleged threat involving students at Ernest Ward Middle School was actually the person that wrote it.
The student reported finding a note and turned it into school officials, leading to an investigation that delayed the departure of buses from the school Thursday afternoon.
“The evidence shows that the student that brought the note to the attention of the school was the person that created it,” Maj. Andrew Hobbs said. “They can face criminal charges for this note that was no credible threat to the school or anyone at the school.”
The contents of the note have not been released due to ongoing investigation.
Escambia County School District Deputy Superintendent Norm Ross termed it simply as a “situation”. He said Thursday night that no weapon was involved, and that he was unable to elaborate due to the ongoing investigation.

Cashless Tolls To Pensacola Beach Begin This Spring. Here’s How It Will Work.
February 21, 2020
The new all-electronic tolling system on Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach will begin in the spring of 2020. The toll will remain $1, and cash and change will no longer be accepted at this location. Until this change is implemented, Escambia County will continue to monitor traffic levels and will waive toll fees as needed during peak traffic times.
A specific date for the switch has not been announced.
All tolls will be collected electronically. Motorists will use either SunPass, another interoperable transponder or be billed utilizing the TOLL-BY-PLATE system. TOLL-BY-PLATE customers will be charged a $1 toll, plus a monthly $2.50 administrative fee and will receive a bill by mail. You may pay cash at SunPass kiosks to replenish and pay TOLL-BY-PLATE invoices.
There are many ways to get to Pensacola Beach. Transponders are available at the Santa Rosa Island Authority and any retailer where SunPass and E-Pass are available. Other options for passes include the NC Quick Pass, Peach Pass and tolling apps such as PayTollo. The community can still walk, bike, ferry or ride ECAT bus routes 61 and 64 to Pensacola Beach.
“All electronic tolling is going statewide and the goal is to get everyone to Pensacola Beach quicker,” said District 4 County Commissioner Robert Bender. “We want to make it easy to go to the beach in a safe, comfortable amount of time.”
