Rain due to Hurricane Delta has almost cleared the area. As a reminder, a burn ban remains in effect for Escambia County.

FEMA Mobile Registration Centers Closed Saturday Due To Weather, Will Reopen On Sunday

Due for forecasted wind and rain, FEMA individual assistance centers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties  will be closed on Saturday and will reopen on Sunday.

It is not necessary to visit a center to register with FEMA. Disaster survivors with uninsured losses can also apply by:

  • Visiting DisasterAssistance.gov;
  • Downloading the FEMA App; or by
  • Calling 800-621-3362 (800-462-7585 TTY). Multilingual operators are available. The toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. local time, seven days a week.

The following information is necessary when you register:

  • Address of the damaged dwelling where the damage occurred (pre-disaster address)
  • Current mailing address
  • Current telephone number
  • Insurance information
  • Total household annual income
  • Routing and account number for checking or savings account (this allows FEMA to directly transfer disaster assistance funds into a bank account)
  • A description of disaster-caused damage and losses

Hurricane Delta Takes Aim At Louisiana. Here’s The Latest Forecast Track.

Hurricane Delta is headed for a landfall in Louisiana.

Northwest Florida, south Alabama and even New Orleans are now well outside the cone.

The National Weather Service of Mobile is forecasting potential local impacts in Escambia County to include 1-3 inches of rain, gusts up to 20 mph, high risk of rip currents, high surf, minor coastal flooding and the possibility of isolated tornadoes Friday evening through Saturday morning.

“Escambia County is continuing to prepare for Hurricane Delta as though the storm is coming our area,” Emergency Manager Eric Gilmore said. “We are encouraging residents to prepare their storm kits and finalize their storm plans in the event that the track shifts eastward.”

Hurricane Delta made its first landfall Wednesday morning on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Most Area High School Games Rescheduled For Thursday Night

October 8, 2020

All of the high school football games in the area were reschedule due to Hurricane Delta concerns, and most will be played tonight.

The Thursday night schedule is below, following a couple of notes.

  • Northview High School principal Mike Sherrill says Walton will only have 350 visitor tickets for sale, all the gate. So some fans may make the long trip and not be able to attend the game. The Northview JV game scheduled for Thursday at Baker has been canceled.
  • Pine Forest High School’s game at Crestview was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, and Washington’s game at Mobile Baker was canceled. Pine Forest and Washington have arranged to play each other.
