Escambia County Websites Down Tonight For Internet Upgrade

Escambia County’s websites are expected to be down for about an hour tonight beginning at 8 p.m.

The county’s information technology department will be performing upgrades to the county’s internet connection.

Escambia County IT will upgrade the internet connection speeds from one to two gigabits.

During the upgrade process, all county-owned websites, including main MyEscambia.com site, the library, property appraiser and ECAT, will be unavailable to the public.

Reminder: 10,000 Pound Food Giveaway This Afternoon In Cantonment

The Cantonment Improvement Committee will hold a drive-thru 10,000 pound food giveaway Tuesday afternoon, April 25 at Carver Park on Webb Street.

The food distribution will begin at 3 p.m. and continue while supplies last for anyone in need of food. People should line up their vehicles, single file on Webb Street facing north; food will be loaded into vehicles. Identification is required.

Driver’s License Services, Vehicle Registration Available In Century Today

The Florida Licensing On Wheels (FLOW) mobile office will be available in Century today.

FLOW is a standalone mobile office with technology to provide most motorists’ needs. The mobile unit provides a convenient method to renew a driver license, obtain a replacement driver license, conversion/reciprocation of out-of-state license, change a name or address on a current driver license or identification card, and get a first-time identification card. In addition to licensing services, the mobile unit also provides an opportunity to renew or replace a vehicle registration and apply, renew or replace disabled parking placards. Written and driving tests are not available from the FLOW unit.

Vehicle registrations can be renewed up to three months and driver licenses up to 18 months in advance of expiration.

The FLOW mobile office will be at the Billy G. Ward Century Courthouse, 7500 North Century Boulevard on Tuesday, April 25 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Citizens using the FLOW services are encouraged to visit EscambiaTaxCollector.com and click the “What Do I Bring” button for information on what is needed for these services. Staff from the tax collector’s office will be on hand to answer all FLOW service questions and questions concerning all other tax collector services such as property tax, business tax receipts, concealed weapons licensing, etc.

One More Day Of Public Access At NAS Pensacola

Naval Air Station Pensacola is open to the public again on Sunday, April 23.

Entry from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. through the West Gate only on Blue Angel Parkway. All U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals 18 and older must have a Real ID or passport.

While on the installation, the public will be able to visit the Pensacola Lighthouse, Fort Barrancas and the National Naval Aviation Museum. Access to Barrancas National Cemetery is always available through the Visitor Control Center to individuals with family interred at the cemetery.

Foreign nationals will not be allowed access. Guests with boat trailers will not be allowed to enter. Access will be dependent on available parking at the National Naval Aviation Museum and Pensacola Lighthouse. Once parking is full, public access will be halted until more parking becomes available. Temporary traffic control points will be located on base to prevent public access to other areas of the installation.

The following restrictions will apply to visitors during public access:

  • No weapons (firearms/knives) allowed (to include concealed weapon permit holders)
  • No backpacks/coolers allowed (diaper bags or medically required bags are acceptable and subject to search)
  • No alcoholic beverages allowed
  • No drones allowed (countermeasures will be taken)
  • Persons with felony convictions are not authorized base access
  • All vehicles and personnel are subject to security searches and background checks
  • No visitors with boats or boat trailers.

The Department of Defense (DoD) and the Navy require any identification card used for base access to be compliant with the Real ID Act of 2005. Real ID compliant identification cards are marked by a star on the upper right of the card.

The base was last open to the public March 25-26 and again on Saturday.
