Rodney Brown Maxwell

Rodney Brown Maxwell, 79, of Pensacola, Florida peacefully passed away on June 12, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family.

He was known to many as “Max”. Rodney is survived by his loving wife Sheila Sheehan of 57 years.

He was the proud father of daughters Crystal Lane and Dawn (Eric) Jackson and sons Corey (Jennifer) Maxwell and Ryan (Heather) Maxwell. He was most affectionately known as Poppy to his loving grandchildren Tyler (Megan), Sierra, Maxwell, Ryleigh, Sydney, Reece, Emalyn and great granddaughter, Elizabeth. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Strickland, cousin Buddy Brown, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Lee and Mary Autney Maxwell and brother-in-law, Roy Strickland.

Rodney was born on September 2, 1944 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. He graduated from Walton High School in 1962. He joined the Air Force and was stationed in Germany and Hill Air Force Base in Utah where he met his wife whom he married on December 22, 1967. After serving, Rodney moved to Pensacola and began his career with Southern Bell as a cable splicer where he made many lifelong friends. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee for 40 years until his retirement in 2007. He spent much of his time fishing and listening to Alabama football. He was his grandchildren’s number one fan and spent countless hours supporting their many endeavors.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 14th at 4:00 pm at the Sanders Beach Community Center.

The family is encouraging guests to dress in appropriate “Rodney” attire including Hawaiian or fishing shirts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ARC Gateway. Interment at Barrancas National Cemetery will occur on a separate date.

Barbara Ann Lambert Hollingsworth

Barbara Ann Lambert Hollingsworth, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the age of 80 surrounded by her family and friends.

Barbara was born in Nokomis, Florida to Hibbert and Edna Earl Lambert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Dewayne Hollingsworth; her father, Hibbert Lambert; daughter, Tanga Rena Hollingsworth; brother, Hibbert “Buddy” Lambert, Jr.; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Lambert; granddaughter, Addison Yvonne.

Survivors include three sons: Ronald (Barbara) Hollingsworth of Enon, Florida, Robert Hollingsworth of Enon, Florida, and Russell (Suzanne) Hollingsworth of Beulah, Florida;

daughter, Rachael (Marty) Hamilton of Enon, Florida; her mother, Edna Earl Lambert of Poarch, Alabama; four sisters: Edna Ship of Poarch, Alabama, Merle Pope of Nokomis, Florida, Glenda McAnally of Nokomis, Florida, Pat Barnes of Turnerville, Alabama; brother-in-law, Paul (Linda) Hollingsworth of Robertsville, Alabama; ten grandchildren: Kimberly, David (Nina), Kelly (Curtis), Crystal (Nathan), Rena, Bessie, Kourtnei, Dalton (Grace), Caitlyn, and Hannah; ten great-grandchildren with one on the way: Tatum, Austin, Lane, Colton, Nathan, Kharrington, Brody, Hayden, Tucker, and Riktavius; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Reverend Alton Lister and Pat Barnes officiating.

Burial will follow at Hollingsworth Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC

Joyce Sue Hall Hollingsworth

Joyce Sue Hall Hollingsworth, age 91 of Atmore (Nokomis), AL passed away on June 26,

2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 15, 1933, in Freemanville, AL to John Robert Hall and Clydie Brewer Hall. Joyce and her husband Dewey operated a successful dairy farm in Walnut Hill, FL for more than 30 years. They were active members of Nokomis Baptist Church and the surrounding communities.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Dewey Hollingsworth; five sisters and their spouses – Elizabeth Reid, Ila Fuller, Nola Wise, Jimmie Johnson, Jean Miller and five brothers and their spouses – Earl Hall, James (Hilton) Hall, Ray Hall, Gordon (Gwinn) Hall and Gary Hall.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Rose (Ronnie) of Atmore (Nokomis), her grandson Jason Williams of Atlanta, GA, her granddaughter Julie Williams of Atmore, AL; step grand-children Amanda Rose Mills, Jessica Rose and their families; great-grandchildren Savannah Cale, Noah Cale; and a host of other family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29 at 11:00am at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Nokomis Baptist Church Cemetery.

lvin Lamar Pugh

lvin Lamar Pugh, age 87, of Oak Grove, FL passed away on June 24, 2024 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 19, 1936 in Oak Grove, FL to Joseph Albert Pugh and Willie Enfinger Pugh. He retired from St. Regis-Champion with 42 years of service. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved his family, his church and was an avid fisherman. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Pugh.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Mooney Pugh; his son, Stephen (Sheila) Pugh of Oak Grove, FL; his daughter, Terri (Charles) Stark of Oak Grove, FL; his grandchildren, Stevie (Star) Pugh, Clint (Shelby) Pugh, and Charla (Alan) Lee and his great grandchildren, Libby Pugh, Colby Pugh, Jaxon Lee and Kenzie Lee.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

James Houston ‘Jimmy’ White Sr.

Pensacola Native, James Houston “Jimmy” White Sr., passed away June 19, 2024, in Tallahassee, Florida.

He was born in Mobile, Alabama, on February 27, 1945, to Clayton Houston White and Blanche Thomas White. Jimmy, Sr. was the creator and owner of Deep South Crane Rentals, Inc. for 45 years with locations in Pensacola and Panama City. Jimmy, Sr. was a member of the National Rifle Association, the National Cutting Horse Association, and the Club of “I’ll Tell You Like It Is”. He had a passion for bass fishing and deer hunting.

Jimmy, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton Houston and Blanche Thomas White; and sisters, Carol Ann Wenzel and Barbara Joyce White Flowers.

Jimmy Sr. is survived by his wife, Raquelle G. White; children, Susie White, R.N., Jamie White Clarke, and James “Jimmy” White, Jr. (Whitney); siblings, Cathy Milan and Mike White; five grandchildren, Jake Middleton (Mary), Jared Clarke, Jaden White, Drake White, and Greg White (Berkley); and five great grandchildren, Dalton Middleton, Stone Middleton, Easton White, Cruz White and Decker White.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 3:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Thomas L. Hedger, Sr.

Thomas L. Hedger, Sr. was born August 28, 1940, in Pensacola, Florida. He was the fifth child born to Jim Hedger and Lillie Bell Hedger. Thomas graduated from Washington High School. Thomas was a devoted and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He was a great storyteller, he had a photogenic memory, he like to fish and he never met a stranger, he spoke to everyone and helped people in many ways!

On, March 1, 1958, Thomas married his high school sweetheart, Sonjair Harris. His memories and legacy will be cherished by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years. They were blessed with raising six wonderful children, each of whom held a very special place in his heart. Thomas was well known in Pensacola as one of the best Upholstery Refinishers. He retired from Pensacola Junior College in 2006 after serving 25 years in the Maintenance Department. In 2007 he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lillie Bell Hedger and 4 siblings; Bessie Mae Peazant, Jimmy Hedger, Nellie Dees, and Delores Thomas. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Sonjair Hedger; and 6 loving children, Thomas (Dora) Hedger, Jr., Belinda (Wallace) Benson, Angela (Wayne) Taylor, Christopher (Sylvia) Hedger, Pamela Lanier, and Anthony Hedger. 17 Grandchildren, Evan, Ella Simone, Naomi, Desmaca, Fonte, Lester, Kiearra, Demacklin, Doniellie, William, Christina, DeMarcus, Terrell, Dominique, Douglas, Antwann, and Tamira; 39 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Special in-laws, that were like his sisters and brothers, Sister-in-laws, Wanda Bright and Cynthia Knight; brother-in- law, Charles Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and one very special nephew, Don Peazant who Thomas had a very special relationship with. Thomas was loved dearly by many relatives and friends, too many to name.

Memorial service will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 S. Highway 29, Cantonment, Florida 32533. Visitation will be prior to service at 10:00 am.

George Baxter Howard

George Baxter Howard, age 86 of Cantonment, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was kind hearted, hardworking, and a friend to everyone he met.

George, also known as Paw Paw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was born in Blountstown, Florida, on October 4, 1937 to Amos and Florence J. Howard. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him in Blountstown, and his mother, father, and six siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jurene Howard; two daughters, Lori A. Banitt (John Banitt) and Lisa A. Foster (Gary Foster); his brother, Ronald Johnson; many nieces and nephews; six grandchildren, Shane Reeves, Abbie Ripple, Thomas Fisher, Deven Banitt, Delanie Foster, and Gavin Foster; and six precious great-grandchildren who he adored, Isla, Evelyn, Jonah, Caleb, Noelle, and Micah.

George was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Gulf Coast Grading and Paving for many years until his retirement. He had a passion for race car racing, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles, and his beloved family. In retirement, he enjoyed building wagons, much like his grandfather, Joseph Davis. These were a labor of love, and on each wagon he built, he added the initials L.A.H. for his daughters, Lori Ann and Lisa Ann.

The family of George B. Howard would like to say a heartfelt “thank you” to the wonderful first floor staff at Life Care Center of Pensacola. They took outstanding care of George for the past two years, and we are eternally grateful.

George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by his family, and he will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment. Family visitation begins at 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.

Rita Wiggins Nichol

Mrs. Rita Wiggins Nichols, age 74, passed away, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Atmore, AL; surrounded by her loving family. She was born, March 26, 1950, in Century FL; and has resided most of her life in McDavid, FL; before moving to Atmore, AL; the past 18 years.

Mrs. Nichols enjoyed bowling, boating and overall, the outdoors. She loved spending time with her family, traveling to the mountains, Graceland and going on cruises. She really liked to cook for family and friends, watch General Hospital, and Alabama Football.

She is preceded by her parents, Clifton (Doris) Wiggins, two brothers, Jerry Wiggins and David Wiggins.

She is survived by her one son, Allen Walston, of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Deborah (David) Arrington, of Flomaton, AL; one brother, Donnie Wiggins, of McDavid, FL; three, grandchildren, Austin Arrington, Logan Walston, Madison Launius, three great-grandchildren, Jake Walston, Harper Walston, Sawyer Walston, and two great-grandchildren, on the way Lucy Launius, Charlotte Arrington, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Cynthia Diane Martin, age 71, passed away, Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Brewton, AL; surrounded by her love ones. She resided most of her life in Flomaton, AL; before moving to Brewton. She was a member of Century Methodist Church.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite past-time she enjoyed crocheting, collecting antiques and watching a good western. She enjoyed planting flowers and loved the water.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Kilby (Edna Earl Allen) Bell, and one sister, Polly Ann Fuqua.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Martin, of Brewton, AL; two sons, Robert Joshua (Jessica) Martin, of Pollard, AL; Jeremy Luverne (Amanda) Martin, of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Jennifer Melissa (Richard) Merchant, of Flomaton, AL; two brothers, Brian Keith Bell, of Jay, FL; James Randolph Bell, of Flomaton, AL; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Troy Houston Daughtry

June 19, 2024

Mr. Troy Houston Daughtry, age 50, passed away, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Pensacola, FL. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and resided most of his life in Pensacola, FL.

Mr. Daughtry in his past-time enjoyed gaming and comics. He loved the Superheroes and was an avid collector of them. He enjoyed traveling and going to amusement parks. He was a great brother, uncle and an awesome caretaker for his mother.

Preceded in death by his father, Houston Daughtry and mother, Glenda Smith Guidy.

He is survived by his two brothers, Andrew (Elizabeth) Daughtry, of Atmore, AL; Jacob Lolley, of MS; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.

Burial will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens 1985 W. 9 Mile Rd. Pensacola, FL. 32534.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 18 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
