Franklin “Shorty” Carnley

Mr. Franklin “Shorty” Carnley, age 87, passed away, Thursday, August 25, 2022 in Century, FL. He was born October 2, 1934 in Jay, FL; and resided most of his life in Davisville, FL. He was a member of Calvary Deliverance Temple Church.

Mr. Carnley enjoyed family reunions, going to church, and playing his bass guitar. He enjoyed going fishing in Escambia River Swamp catching shell crackers. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to travel in his motorhome.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pink Holly (Gladys Carnley) Carnley, wife, Letha Carnley, seven brothers, Glenn Carnley, Floyd Carnley, Horace Carnley, Lenell Carnley, L J Carnley, Doug Carnley, Dan Carnley, three sisters, Jeanette Morris, Thelma Petty, and Mae Smith Owens.

He is survived by his three sons, Rick (Karen) Hardy, of Davisville, FL; Mark Kevin Carnley, of Davisville, FL; Darren (Judy) Carnley, of Davisville, FL; one daughter, Lorraine Kite, of McDavid, FL; six grandchildren, Shane Hardy, Dywane Carnley, Rachael Carnley, Julie Moyer, Cody Qualls, Alissa Williams, fourteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Sister. Enfinger, Sister; Darlene Defee, and Rev. Charles Blackmon officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Barren Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Shane Hardy, Rick Hardy, Darren Carnley, Dywane Carnley, Josh Hardy, and Tristan Reeves.

Frances Meadows Kent

August 28, 2022

Frances Meadows Kent passed away on August 19, 2022 in Cantonment, Florida.

She was born on July 29, 1947 in Rome, Georgia to Rowe and Mary Margaret Meadows. Frances was a longtime member of First Pentecostal Church until health issues prevented her from attending.

She loved to write poems and she always had a song for everything. Her favorite saying was, “I LOVE you the most and I said it first!”, which was a phrase taken from her long-time friend, Shirley Welch, pastor’s wife of F.P.C.
Frances was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Margaret White Meadows; sister, Linda M. Kent; and brother, Jerry Meadows.

She is survived by her son, Earl David Kent, Jr.; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sister, Nancy Poillucci; brothers, Elton and Anthony Meadows; and one daughter-in-law, Kaye Kent.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Earl David Kent, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dale Caraway

Mr. Dale Caraway, age 66, passed away, Friday, August 19, 2022 in Atmore, AL; surrounded by family at his bedside. He was a lifelong resident of Atmore, AL. He was a supervisor at a local grocery store for many years.

Mr. Caraway enjoyed playing video games, watching TV, and listening to music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and (Maureen Carraway) Caraway, two brothers, Johnny Carlton Caraway, Edward Caraway, two sisters, Rebie Blanton, and Dorothy Henderson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Tracey Caraway, of Atmore, AL; children, CHEIF MSTR. SGT. Chris Robinson, Brandon Henderson, two brothers, Bob Caraway, of Atmore, AL; Jimmy (Shona) Caraway, of Atmore, AL; two sisters, Maureen Searcy, of Atmore, AL; Ernestine Brantley, of Wedowee, AL; two grandchildren, Autumn Drew Blankenship, Brayden Robinson, two great-grandchildren, Vincent Blankenship, Margaret Blankenship, special children in his life, Reagan King, Aiden Harrelson, Rileigh Harrelson, Seth Searcy, two special friends, Edward Davis, Wanda Pittman, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A special thanks to, two special nieces, Connie Rolin and Angela Searcy.

Cynthia Diane Jacobs Jones

Cynthia Diane Jacobs Jones, 62, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday August 23rd, 2022. Diane was born February 13th, 1960, to James Hub and Evelyn Jacobs. She was a lifelong resident of Jay Florida, of the Berrydale community and a member of Cora Baptist Church.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Mark Jones; parents, James Hub and Evelyn Jacobs; her brother, James Bryan Jacobs; and her angel twins that never knew pain.

She is survived by her nephews, James Jamie Jacobs (Erika) and Aaron Jacobs; niece, Bridget Jacobs (Marcus); sister-in-law, Karen Jacobs; a very special uncle, Frank Rowell (Pearl); aunts, Dinah Colonna, Joy Rowell, Lorene Rowell; and special friend, Paul Taylor Jr. Aunt Di, as she was known to her nephews and nieces, also leaves behind great-niece, Addalyn Sanders; great-nephews, Mason Sanders and James Wesley Jacobs (JJ) that she loved to watch grow and learn. She also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Terrace at Ivey Acres, Fresenius Kidney Care of Century Florida, and the nursing staff of 3 west at Baptist Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday August 28, 2022 at Lewis Funeral Home Milton Chapel, 6405 Highway 90 W Milton, Florida 32570 from 2pm-3pm. A funeral service will follow at 3pm. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Tena Elaine Ellis

Tena Elaine Ellis, age 78, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2022.

Tena grew up in Pensacola, Fl and graduated from Pensacola High School. She attended the First Pentecostal Church where she met and married the love of her life, Winston Ellis.

Tena worked at several daycare centers which she enjoyed more than anyone will ever know. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She loved boating and vacationing in the Florida Keys.

Tena is preceded in death by her mother, Ida Pearl Anderson; nephew, Morgan Stith; her father and mother-in-law, James L. and Mae Rotenberry; and many aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish her loving memory, husband of 60 years, Thomas Winston Ellis; daughter, Cherie Myers; grandsons, Robert Dryden (Meagan) and Brad Myers (Allie); two great grandchildren, Hudson Dryden and Olivia Myers; sister, Diane Anderson; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at First Pentecostal Church of Pensacola, 6500 North “W” Street, Pensacola, FL. with Pastor Brian Kinsey officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Memoria Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Noon prior to services.

Pallbearers will by Robert Dryden, Brad Myers, Sean Plant, Jimmy Ellis, Adam Nelson and John Connell. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be Charles Rotenberry, Ray Rotenberry, Freddie White, Rodney Nelson and Ricky Haugen.

Elise Drinkard

Elise Drinkard, a devoted wife, loving mother, Mimi and sister, stepped into heaven on August 24, 2022. Elise was born April 26, 1961 to Norma and Robert Belvin, Sr. She was a graduate of Woodham High School class of 1979. Elise was part of the A. Downing Gray and Company family for 39 years where she worked with some of her dearest friends. She was a member of Olive Baptist church and enjoyed fellowship and Bible study with the SHE Group and also teaching 4th grade Sunday school.

To cherish her memory is the love of her life of 39 years, Robert Drinkard. Also surviving their mother are her children, Lauren Hinote (Bryan) and Ashley Drinkard. Elise was active in her children’s lives taking on leadership roles in the PTA, East Hill School Board, cheer coach and professional dance mom. Elise is survived by the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Ava. She was the most fabulous Mimi and Ava was her heart. Elise is survived by her siblings, Robert Belvin, Jr. (Cecilia) and Jo Ann Adams (Gary). “Lisee” adored her siblings and treasured time spent with them. She also coveted time with her bonus siblings, Cheri Parda, Elizabeth Vinson (Kevin) and Ginny Guelzo (Dan). Elise is also survived by many nieces, nephews, adopted children and grandchildren and beloved friends.

Elise’s loved ones will receive friends and celebrate her at a visitation on Friday, August 26 from 5-7pm at Faith Chapel North. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 27 at 2pm at Faith Chapel North. A graveside service will be held on August 29 at 11am at Victoria Community Cemetery in Victoria, AL.

Opal J. Smith

Opal J. Smith, 85, of Cantonment, FL passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born January 31, 1937 on a cotton farm in Lottie, AL. One of ten children born to John Emory Jones and Mazzie Artence Chunn Jones. She graduated from Baldwin County High School. Mrs. Smith worked at Monsanto for six years and over 30 years as a Guidance Office Secretary at Ransom Middle School. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cantonment for over 50 years. Mrs. Smith loved her family, her church family and friends. In her leisure time she enjoyed Suduko puzzles and watching Jeopardy as well as traveling.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 plus years, Grady K. Smith, Sr.

To cherish her memory is her son, Grady K. Smith, Jr. (Kandys); her daughter, Allison K. Eisinga (Henk); her grandchildren, Jonathon Kennedy, Daniel C. Eisinga, Jacqueline J. Eisinga-Roles(Daniel) and a great granddaughters, Sophia Kennedy and Claire Eisinga.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 10:00 AM until Noon at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Regi Burkett

Mr. Regi Burkett, age 62, passed away, Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Century, FL; at his home surrounded by family at his bedside. He was a lifelong resident of Century, FL. He was employed with Westinghouse for many years.

Mr. Burkett valued his time he got to spend with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed fly fishing, and refurbishing reels. He always enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every year. He was a “Florida Gators Fan”. He was a big fan of Nascar Racing especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and loved collecting old fire extinguishers. He was a member of Century Vol. Fire Department, Station 5, for 39 years, where he served as Chief from 1987-2017. He was the most influential person on building of the current fire house and the stations as of today.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carrie B. (Mary Lois Ray) Burkett, and one sister, Donna Jo Way.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ann Burkett, of Century, FL; one son, Ryan (Mariah) Burkett, of Century, FL; one daughter, Casey (Stephen) Roach, of Grand Ridge, FL; three brothers, Roger (Katie) Burkett, of Century, FL; Todd Burkett, of Century, Fl; Trent (Marjorie) Burkett. of Troy, AL; five grandchildren, Benjamin Roach, Reagan Roach, Samuel Roach, Carlton Roach, Liz Kelley, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC with Rev. Mitch Herring and Rev. Tim Floyd officiating.

Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Infants Sabrina Grace Rhamstine and Dagan Alexander Rhamstine passed away peacefully in the arms of their parents on August 20, 2022. Sabrina and Dagan were born on August 20, 2022 to Alexander and Stephanie Roach Rhamstine in Pensacola, FL. They are loved deeply by their family and friends. They are preceded in death by their great grandparents, William Coon and Mary Coon.

Sabrina and Dagan are survived by their father and mother, Alexander and Stephanie Rhamstine; their grandparents, Valeria Slevin (David Bowling), Timothy (Carrie) Rhamstine and Raymond “Eddie” and Kathryn Roach; their great grandparents, Barbara Rhamstine, Thomas (Maria) Rhamstine and Athalia Cherry, and their uncles, Avery Rhamstine and Pierce Rhamstine.

Alex Lorinza “Buster” Hollinger

Mr. Alex Lorinza “Buster” Hollinger, age 90, passed away, Sunday, August 21, 2022, in Century, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Uriah, AL. He was a member of Semirah Springs Freewill Baptist Church and Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He was also a very skilled “Handy Man.” He served in the United States Army with many years of service.

Mr. Hollinger enjoyed going camping on the sandbars. He enjoyed riding four wheelers, fishing, and playing gospel music. He had a very vibrant and bubbly personality, that he never met a stranger. He traveled many different places spreading the gospel with his gospel music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex (Lillie Mae Heathcock) Hollinger, two wives, Patricia Ann Woods Hollinger, Yvonne Johnson Hollinger, two brothers, Dennis Cee Hollinger, Adam Lavon Hollinger, three sisters, Lucille Turk, Ernestine Lundy, Anna Jean Hollinger, and one grandson, Denver Shuttlesworth.

He is survived by his four sons, Phil (Serena) Hollinger, of Uriah, AL; Gary (Tara) Hollinger, of Uriah, AL; Jarrell (Angel) Hollinger, of Uriah, AL; Darrell (Sandy) Hollinger, of Uriah, AL; one daughter, Brenda (Michael) Helton, of Atmore, AL; eight grandchildren, Tiffany (Brian) Marshall, Brandy (Clint) Lassiter, Austin Shuttlesworth, Alexis Hollinger, Dawson (Maggie) Hollinger, Colby Hollinger, Jarrell Hollinger, Jr; Anna Grace Hollinger, five great-grandchildren, Lydia Marshall, Tripp Lassiter, Brooklyn Marshall, Kade Marshall, Ryleigh Marshall, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives.

Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery.
