Escambia Increases Just 99 COVID-19 Cases On Sunday, No New Deaths

The number of COVID-19 cases reported in Escambia County topped 8,000 on Sunday as, for the first time in more than a week, there were no new deaths reported in the two-county region.

Escambia County cases increased 99 to 8,007. An additional 55 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 3,454. While the daily increases dropped, the number of test results reported also dropped.

Of the 879 tests results returned on Saturday in Escambia County, 8.9% were positive, and 12.4% were positive from 345 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.1%.

There were  217 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Sunda, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 97 deaths in Escambia County, 59 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 22 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and three in a long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 487,132 cases including 484,668 Florida residents. There have been 27,150 hospitalizations* and 7,084 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Hurricane Isaias Headed Toward Florida; No Local Worries

Isaias became a hurricane Thursday night, the second hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season. It’s headed for an Atlantic coast brush with Florida.

There are no direct local impacts expected on Northwest Florida or South Alabama. Our local North Escambia area forecast for the weekend calls for mostly sunny with those typical afternoon showers.

Three Additional COVID-19 Deaths, 140 New Cases In Escambia County

Three additional COVID-19 deaths and 140 new cases were reported Friday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.

Th Escambia County deaths were a 57-year old man, an 81-year old man, and an 84-year old man. One was a long-term care facility resident. There have been 21 COVID-19 deaths in Escambia County in the past six days.

Escambia County cases increased to 7,598. An additional 154 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 3,279.

Of the 1,117 tests results returned on Thursday in Escambia County, 11.5% were positive, and 9.5% were positive from 540 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.1%.

There were  237 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Friday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 95 deaths in Escambia County, 59 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 22 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and three in a long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 470,386 cases including 465,030 Florida residents. There have been 26,533 hospitalizations* and 6,843 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Four Additional Deaths, 169 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Escambia County

Four more COVID-19 deaths and 169 new cases were reported Thursday in Escambia County by the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County deaths were a 60-year old man, an 81-year old man, a 61-year old woman and an 84-year old woman. Two were long-term care facility residents. There have been 18 COVID-19 deaths in Escambia County in the past five days.

Escambia County cases increased to 7,598. An additional 154 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 3,279.

Of the 911 tests results returned on Wednesday in Escambia County, 14.9% were positive, and 24.7% were positive from 469 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.3%.

There were 224 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Thursday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 92 deaths in Escambia County, 58 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 22 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and three in a long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 461,379 cases including 456,105 Florida residents. There have been 26,017 hospitalizations* and 6,586 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Flood Advisory Issued For Central Escambia, Santa Rosa Counties

July 29, 2020

The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for central Escambia County and west central Santa Rosa County until 5:30 p.m.

Several inches of rain have fallen in the area, and more rain is possible.

The advisory area is along and both north and south of I-10, including Brent, Ferry Pass, Gonzalez, Pine Forest area, Bellview, Beulah, Pace and Pea Ridge (map below).

Three more COVID-19 deaths and 359 new cases were reported Wednesday in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties by the Florida Department of Health.

Te Escambia County deaths were men ages 65, 83 and 95. All were long-term care facility residents.

Escambia County cases increased to 7,429. An additional 180 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 3,125.

Of the 1,103 tests results returned on Tuesday in Escambia County, 12.7% were positive, and 24.1% were positive from 580 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 12.1%.

There were 238 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Wednesday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 88 deaths in Escambia County, 56 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 22 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and three in a long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 451,423 cases including 446,251 Florida residents. There have been 25,499 hospitalizations* and 6,333 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.
