Pensacola Council To Discuss Confederate Monument, Lee Square. Here’s How To Provide Input.

On Tuesday July 14, 2020, the Pensacola City Council will hold a special meeting regarding the Confederate Monument located at Lee Square as well as the renaming of Lee Square.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with all public participation taking place remotely. The meeting will be live streamed at cityofpensacola.com/video.

The city provided the following information on how the public can take part:

There are several options to provide comments and participate in the meeting:

Speak during the meeting: Those wishing to participate can access the request to speak form here at https://www.cityofpensacola.com/ccinput, submissions will be accepted from 12:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on July 14th . Those requesting to speak will then be called via the telephone number they provide; in the order the requests are received. You are asked to state your name and address for the record, and you will have two minutes to speak.

Send an email to City Council: Another option is to express your thoughts and have your voice be heard by emailing the Council Members or to Don Kraher at dkraher@cityofpensacola.com who will share your thoughts with all Council Members. These emails will be made part of the record of the meeting. Please be aware that all emails become public records and are subject to disclosure.

Send comments to be read during the meeting: A final option is to send your thoughts in written form to Don Kraher at dkraher@cityofpensacola.com and request those thoughts be read into the record at the meeting. Comments will be read as submitted, however no obscenities or curse words will be read. The reading into the record will be relegated to the same two minute time limit in place for the call-in speakers.

One Death, 144 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Escambia County

Another COVID-19 death and 144 new positive cases were reported in Escambia County Thursday by the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County fatality was an 85-year old male long-term care facility resident

Escambia County cases increased to 3,332 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 40 to 1,033.

On Thursday, there were 137 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County. As of today, we are now able to report the current number of hospitalized patients using data compiled daily by Escambia County and the City of Pensacola directly from the local hospitals.

Of the 598 test results returned on Wednesday, 17.4% were positive in Escambia County and 17.9% were positive from 170 tests in Santa Rosa County.

Of the 52 deaths in Escambia County, 38 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 10 deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 232,718 cases including 229,367 Florida residents. There have been 17,167 hospitalizations* and 4,009 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Three New COVID-19 Deaths In Escambia, One Additional In Santa Rosa

Three new COVID-19 deaths, including a 24-year old man, were reported Wednesday in Escambia County, and one additional death was reported in Santa Rosa County by the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County fatalities were a 69-year old female, 71-year old male and a 24-year old male; only one was a long-term care facility resident. The Santa Rosa death was a 61-year old male.

Escambia County cases increased 129 to 3,188 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 52 to 993.

Of the 763 test results returned on Monday, 13.1% were positive in Escambia County and 17.3% were positive from 248 tests in Santa Rosa County.

Of the 51 deaths in Escambia County, 37 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been nine deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 223,783 cases including 220,492 Florida residents. There have been 16,758 hospitalizations* and 3,889 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

One Additional Death, 117 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Tuesday In Escambia County

Escambia County recorded an additional COVID-19 death as cases were up by 117 in the Tuesday report from the the Florida Department of Health.

The fatality was a 92-year old female that was not a resident of a long-term care facility.

Escambia County cases increased to 3,059 and Santa Rosa cases were up by 39 to 941.

Of the 508 test results returned on Monday, 15.6% were positive in Escambia County and 16.9% were positive from 197 tests in Santa Rosa County.

Of the 48 deaths in Escambia County, 36 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been nine deaths in Santa Rosa County, seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and none in long-term care facilities.

Free Produce Giveaway Wednesday At Highland Baptist Church

Highland Baptist Church will host a free fresh produce box giveaway again this Wednesday, July 8.

Escambia County COVID-19 cases were up by 133 in the Monday report from the the Florida Department of Health.

Escambia County cases increased to 2,942, and Santa Rosa cases were up by 35 to 902.

Of the 595 test results returned on Sunday, 17% were positive in Escambia County and 19.3% were positive from 146 tests in Santa Rosa County.
