Volunteers Needed: Cleanup Day Saturday At Tate’s Pete Gindl Stadium

A cleanup will be held Saturday at Tate High School’s Pete Gindl Stadium to prepare for the 2020 football season.
The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. until noon; volunteers can spend as little, or as much time, as they would like.
Participants are asked to bring any lawn equipment and safety gear. The cleanup will include the coaches’ storage room, old gym, press box and the Aggie Shack.
Five New COVID-19 Deaths, 98 New Cases Reported Thursday

There were 98 new COVID-19 positives and five new deaths reported in the two county region on Thursday, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The Escambia County deaths were men ages 53, 76 and 80. The death in Santa Rosa County was an 86-year old male long-term care facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased by 55 to 10,999. An additional 43 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,566.
Of the 836 tests results returned on Tuesday in Escambia County, 5.8% were positive, and 11.9% were positive from 334 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.
There were 149 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Wednesday, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 183 deaths in Escambia County, 87 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 55 deaths in Santa Rosa County, at least seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and 10 in a long-term care facilities.
Statewide, there were 611,991 cases including 602,342 Florida residents. There have been 37,718 hospitalizations* and 10,868 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

State To Offer COVID-19 Testing In Walnut Hill On Friday

The Florida Department of Health is bringing COVID-19 testing to Walnut Hill on Friday.
The state-supported drive thru testing site will be at the Walnut Hill Community Center from 3-7 p.m. It will be the first testing location made available in the Walnut Hill community.
“We want to make testing available for anyone that wants to be tested,” Escambia County Emergency Manager Eric Gilmore told NorthEscambia.com.
Results from the Walnut Hill testing site will be available within 24 hours, according to FDOH.
The Walnut Hill Community Center is located at 7850 HIghway 97 in Walnut Hill, just north of Ernest Ward Middle School and the Walnut Hill Fire Station. It is also known as the Walnut Hill Ruritan Building.

There were 113 new COVID-19 positives and one new death reported in the two county region on Wednesday, according to the Florida Department of Health.
The death was a 92-year old male that was not listed as a long-term care facility resident.
Escambia County cases increased by 73 to 10,944. An additional 40 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,523.
Of the 1,368 tests results returned on Tuesday in Escambia County, 5% were positive, and 9.3% were positive from 449 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.
There were 149 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Tuesday, according to data from the three local hospitals.
Of the 179 deaths in Escambia County, 87 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 54 deaths in Santa Rosa County, at least seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and nine in a long-term care facilities.

Escambia County cases increased by 39 to 10,871. An additional 21 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,483.
Of the 398 tests results returned on Monday in Escambia County, 7.7% were positive, and 13% were positive from 148 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.

Update: Hurricane Laura Is Moving Across The Central Gulf Of Mexico, Expected To Intensify

Hurricane Laura is moving across the Gulf of Mexico and is predicted to strengthen into a major hurricane prior to landfall on the upper Texas or southwest Louisiana coast.
Forecasters say Laura could undergo rapid intensification as it moves northwest on Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Marco made landfall in Louisiana on Monday and weakened. Marco was responsible for several inches of rain across Escambia County Monday.
Community Health COVID-19 Testing Wednesday In Cantonment For Any Age

Community Health Northwest Florida will provide COVID-19 testing Wednesday in Cantonment.
The drive-thru testing will be available Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon at Community Health Northwest Florida Cantonment Pediatrics at 470 South Highway 29. Community Health plans to hold the testing each Wednesday until further notice.
The testing is for Escambia County (FL) residents only. There is no pre-screening required, and the testing is available for any age regardless of symptoms.
Testing will be provided weather permitting while supplies last. Participants should bring a photo identification and an insurance card (if insured).
