The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit is asking for your help to name their new puppy.

She is nine months old and is the agency’s first bloodhound. She will be assigned to Sergeant Biggs, and her main job will be to conduct searches for missing people or suspects.

The ECSO has narrowed it down to three names, but can’t decide which one fits their newest employee.

No Deaths, 33 New COVID-19 Cases Reported Sunday In Escambia County

There were 33 new COVID-19 positives and no new deaths reported in Escambia County on Sunday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Escambia County cases increased to 11,151. An additional 25 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,659.

Of the 818 tests results returned in Escambia County, 3.9% were positive, and 9.7% were positive from 224 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 5.5%.

There were 132 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Saturday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 186 deaths in Escambia County, 89 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 55 deaths in Santa Rosa County, at least seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and 10 in a long-term care facilities.

Statewide, there were 621,586 cases including 614,753 Florida residents. There have been 38,410 hospitalizations* and 11,119 deaths. The Florida Department of Health does not have a clear standard or definition of “recovered” and does not report a number of recovered individuals.

Saturday Report: Two New COVID-19 Deaths In Escambia, 55 Additional Cases

There were 55 new COVID-19 positives and two new deaths reported in Escambia County on Saturday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The deaths in Escambia County were females ages 78 and 88. One was a long-term care facility resident.

Escambia County cases increased by 55 to 11,211. An additional 42 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,634.

Of the 993 tests results returned on Thursday in Escambia County, 4.4% were positive, and 14% were positive from 263 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.

There were 132 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Saturday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

One New COVID-19 Death, 67 New Cases Reported Friday In Escambia County

There were 99 new COVID-19 positives and one new death reported in the two county region on Friday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The death in Escambia County was a 96-year old female long-term care facility resident.

Escambia County cases increased by 67 to 11,066. An additional 26 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,592.

Of the 590 tests results returned on Thursday in Escambia County, 8.8% were positive, and 7% were positive from 356 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.

There were 146 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Thursday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 184 deaths in Escambia County, 88 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 55 deaths in Santa Rosa County, at least seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and 10 in a long-term care facilities.

Volunteers Needed: Cleanup Day Saturday At Tate’s Pete Gindl Stadium

A cleanup will be held Saturday at Tate High School’s Pete Gindl Stadium to prepare for the 2020 football season.

The cleanup will take place from 8 a.m. until noon; volunteers can spend as little, or as much time, as they would like.

Participants are asked to bring any lawn equipment and safety gear. The cleanup will include the coaches’ storage room, old gym, press box and the Aggie Shack.

There were 98 new COVID-19 positives and five new deaths reported in the two county region on Thursday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The Escambia County deaths were men ages 53, 76 and 80. The death in Santa Rosa County was an 86-year old male long-term care facility resident.

Escambia County cases increased by 55 to 10,999. An additional 43 cases brought the Santa Rosa County total to 4,566.

Of the 836 tests results returned on Tuesday in Escambia County, 5.8% were positive, and 11.9% were positive from 334 tests in Santa Rosa County. Over the past week, the overall average positivity rate for Escambia County is 8.2%.

There were 149 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Escambia County as of Wednesday, according to data from the three local hospitals.

Of the 183 deaths in Escambia County, 87 have been long-term care facility residents or staff. There have been 55 deaths in Santa Rosa County, at least seven of those at the Blackwater River Correctional Facility and 10 in a long-term care facilities.
