Foley Defeats Ernest Ward

The Foley Lions defeated the Ernest Ward Middle School Eagle Thursday night, 26-12.

Ernest Ward, Escambia County’s only middle school football team, will wrap up their season at home next Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they host the Flomaton Hurricanes.

About 90 runners took part in a cross country meet with Ernest Ward Middle, Flomaton High, Milton High, Northview High, Catholic High and T.R. Miller High Tuesday at Northview High School in Bratt.

Volleyball: Pensacola High Tops Northview (With Gallery)

The Pensacola High Lady Tigers defeated the Northview Chiefs Monday afternoon

PHS topped Northview in three straight 22-25, 20-25, 17-25.

Northview travels to Central Tuesday, with the JV playing at 5:00 and varsity at 6:00.

Major Leaguer Caleb Gindl To Hold Baseball Clinic

October 14, 2014

Northview Baseball and Major Leaguer Caleb Gindl of the Milwaukee Brewers will present a fall baseball clinic for ages 9-17. Participants will receive professional instruction and on the field experience while supporting the Northview Chiefs baseball program.

The clinic will be held Saturday, November 8 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Northview baseball complex. The cost is $40 per participant. Pre-register by November 1 for a free clinic t-shirt.

FHSAA Eligibility Experts Offer Class Today In Escambia County

October 13, 2014

Today, the Escambia County School District will host a team from the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) to conduct training that will address FHSAA rules and regulations for the athletic eligibility for middle and high school student athletes. This training opportunity will be held in the auditorium of  Booker T. Washington High School at 6000 College Parkway  from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

FHSAA eligibility and compliance experts will educate student athletes and their families on the rules and regulations concerning recruiting as well as how to establish, protect, and maintain a student athlete’s athletic eligibility throughout high school.

Along with student athletes and their families, the public is also invited to attend this training.

Tate Beats Washington (With Photo Gallery)

Fans at Pete Gindl Stadium in Cantonment got their money’s worth of excitement Friday as the Tate Aggies beat the Washington Wildcats 35-28.

Things rolled right along for the Aggies in the first quarter. On the second play of the game,  Alondo Thompkins had an 86-yard touchdown run, followed by an Alonte Thompson touchdown run with about five minutes to go in the first for a 14-0 Tate lead.

But then the Wildcats began to roar with two touchdowns for a 14-14 tie at the half.

In the second half, the Aggies added three touchdowns. The first was a 6-yard quarterback keeper from Sawyer Smith. the second on a 27-yard pass from Smith to Reggie Payne and the third from Alondo Thompkins from 44-yards out.

The Tate High School Aggies  (5-2,0-1) will host Crestview (2-5, 0-0)  next Friday at 7:30.

Northview Volleyball Celebrates Senior Night, Takes On Jay

The  Northview Lady Chiefs honored their seniors during Senior Night Thursday before taking on the Jay Royals.

Senior Northview volleyball players honored were E’Layzha Bates, Penny Banda, Kyndall Hall, McKenzie Nasser and Shania Ward.

The Chiefs lost to Jay 15-25, 25-18, 8-25, 12-25.

Ernest Ward Beats Excel (With Photo Gallery)

The Ernest Ward Eagles defeated the Excel Panthers 44-20 Thursday night in middle school football action in Walnut Hill.

The Eagles will host Foley on Thursday, October 16, and Ernest Ward will round our their season at home on Tuesday, October 21 against the Flomaton Hurricanes. Both games are set for kickoff at 6 p.m.
