Northview Lady Chiefs, JV Lady Chiefs Remain Undefeated

nhssoft.jpgThe Northview Lady Chiefs improved to a perfect 5-0 Thursday as they shutout Freeport in Bratt.

Northview slammed Freeport 14-0.

Ashley Digmon was 3-2 with three RBI’s, and Shawna Montgomery had two RBI’s as she went 2-4.  Misty Doran had four RBI’s, while Emily Vickery had one. Kolbi Cobb also had an RBI.

Doran pitched five for Northview with nine strikeouts.

The Chiefs hit their way to an easy win, leading 7-0 at the end of the first inning and kept on going with two in the second, one in the third and four in the fourth.

The Lady Chiefs will be take on Freeport again Friday night with a road trip.

Northview 2 Freeport 1 (JV)

The JV Lady Chiefs softball team defeated Freeport Tuesday afternoon by a score of 2-1.

Northview was led by Shaquanna Jones who pitched a no-hitter for five innings allowing only one run and striking out eight Freeport batters.

Lauren McCall and Taylor Byrd both scored in the bottom of the first inning for the only Northview runs. Shaquanna Jones and Morgan Payne had hits for the Lady Chiefs. With this victory the Northview Lady Chiefs are now 4-0 for the season. The next game for the JV is at Freeport Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Northview 13 Pensacola Christian 1 (Boys)

The Northview Chiefs beat Pensacola Christian 13-1 Tuesday night for a district win.

Northview (4-1, 1-0) scored 13 runs on 9 hits, and committed one error. Northview scored three in the first, three in the second, four in the third, and three in the fourth.

Leading hitters for the Chiefs were Austin Arrington, who was 2 for 4, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a triple. Dabney Langhorne was 2 for 3, including 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI’s. Dakota Stuckey was 2 for 2, one run scored, 2 RBI’s, and one double. Austin Reid was 1 for 1 with 2 RBI’s. Aaron Chancery scored 2 runs for the Chiefs. Colton Sims was 1 for 1 with a run scored. Tyler Brooks was 1 for 1 with an RBI.

Brad Lowery pitched a five inning no-hitter for Northview. During five innings, Lower gave up one run, no hits, walked two, and struck out 12 hitters.

Northview 10 Pensacola Christian 0 (JV Boys)

The junior varsity Northview Chiefs beat Pensacola Christian 10-0 Tuesday afternoon.

The Chiefs scored three in the first, three in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the fifth to win in five innings at Northview.

Hunter Rigby was 1 for 4 with two runs scored.  Ty Randolph had one hit and scored a run.  Tyler Hester had one single and two runs scored.  Brian Sanders had a single and a run scored.  Reid Bell had two hits and scored two runs.  Harold Harrison scored a run.  Chance Jackson had one hit and scored a run.

Reid Bell was the winning pitcher for the Chiefs.  Chance Jackson and Hunter Rigby pitched relief. l.  The JV Chiefs are 1-0 on the year.

Northview 16 Escambia County 0 (Girls)

The Northview Lady Chiefs remain undefeated after a 16-0 non-district win over Escambia County High School of Atmore Tuesday

The Chiefs took an early lead 4-0 at the end of the first inning and expanded their margin to 11-0 by the end of the second.

Amber McMillan pitched five for the Chiefs, allowing just one hit and striking out five.

Northview 17 Escambia County 2 (JV Girls)

The junior varsityLady Chiefs beat Escambia County High School of Atmore Tuesday, 17-2.

Taylor Byrd, Tori Reid, Samantha Johnson, and Lauren McCall led the Lady Chiefs on offense.  Taylor Byrd picked up the win pitching three innings and striking out five.  With the win, the JV Lady Chiefs are 3-0.  The next game for the Lady Chiefs is Thursday against Freeport at NHS beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Tate Loses Regional Quarterfinal In Final Seconds

http://www.northescambia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/basketball.jpgTate High School’s hopes for state basketball championship came to an end with a Niceville layup with less than ten seconds to go in their Tuesday night matchup.

Niceville (26-3) beat the Aggies 62-60  to win the Region 1-5A semifinals. Tate, which won only 10 games combined in 2008 and 2009, finished the season at 20-9.

Tevin Brown 16 led the Aggies against Niceville with 16, while Shermonne Jones had 13.  Krys Walden and Dylan Anderson had 11 each. Petey Jones added 8, and Jabril Rashied had one point.

Northview 15 Central 0

The Northview Lady Chiefs slammed Central 15-0 in Monday softball action.

Shawna Montgomery was 2-2 with 4 RBI’s. Emily Vickery was 2-4 with a couple of RBI’s. Misty Doran was 2-3 with 2 RBI’s; Amber McMillian was 3-4 with 2 RBI’s. Kolbi Cobb was 3-3 with 2 RBI’s.

Northview’s 15 points were split between the third and fourth innings, while Central managed two in the last inning.

Jay 6 West Florida 5

The Lady Royals from Jay beat West Florida 6-5 Monday.

Leading offensive players for the Royals were Olivia Wright with a homerun, two runs and two RBI’s. Tessa Hendricks added two runs.

West Florida was led by Brittany Adkinson with 2 RBI’s, and Gabby Leifur with two RBI’s and a run.

Northview 12 Jay 8

The Northview Lady Chiefs defeated Jay Royals Friday night by the score of 12-8.

Offensive leaders were Candice Greenwell 3-5, Amber McMillan 3-5, Misty Doran 3-5 Shawna Montgomery 2-5, and Emily Vickery 2-4,   Winning pitcher was Misty Doran.

Northview plays at Central Monday afternoon and at home against Atmore on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Northview 9 Jay 6 (JV)

The Northview Chiefs JV softball team defeated Jay Friday night by a score of 9-6.

Leading offensive players for Northview were Lauren McCall  with a double; Tori Reid with one hit and a run scored; Samantha Johnson with a double and three runs scored; two runs from Taylor Byrd; Ashley Mooney with a hit and a run scored; Shaquanna Jones and Ashton Gibbs with hits.

Shaquanna Jones picked up the victory on the mound pitching five innings, allowing only one hit and striking out four.

Four Northview errors  and five walks led to the six runs scored by Jay.  The Northview JV softball team is now 2-0.

The Lady Chiefs will be at home on Tuesday against Atmore  at 4:00 p.m.

NHS Chiefs Take Eagle Classic With Wins Over Neal, Escambia County, Flomaton

The Northview Chiefs claimed the Eagle Classic Championship  over the weekend with strong wins over Flomaton, Escambia County and W.S. Neal. Northview outscored their opponents by a combined 34-8 in claiming the Eagle Classic Championship.

Northview 7 W.S. Neal 5

Northview defeated W. S. Neal 7-5 on Saturday evening to claim the Eagle Classic Championship.  Each team entered the championship game 2-0 in the tournament.

Leading hitters for the Chiefs included Brad Lowery, who was 2 for 3 with a double, and two runs scored.  Dabney Langhorne had two hits, and three RBI’s.  Austin Arrington had a run scored, collected one hit, and had two RBI’s.  Austin Reid had one hit, and an RBI.  Brandon Sheets had one hit also for the Chiefs.  Josh Scott and Taylor Martin each scored a run.
Austin Reid picked up the win on the mound for Northview.  He ran his record to 1-1 on the season.  He pitched four innings, giving up three runs, on four hits, walking four, and striking out seven batters.  Austin Arrington pitched the final three innings for Northview.  He gave up just a couple of runs on three hits, walked two, and struck out a half dozen hitters.

Northview 11 Escambia County 1

The Chiefs beat Escambia County High School of Atmore 11-1 on Saturday at W.S. Neal. The Chiefs scored two in the first, six in the third, and three in the fifth.

Leading hitters for the Chiefs were Brad Lowery, who had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI’s.  Austin Reid went 2 for 3, with a double and one RBI.  Austin Arrington and Aaron Chancery had one hit each.  Dabney Langhorne and Taylor Martin had doubles for Northview.  Brandon Sheets had one single and two RBI’s.  Josh Scott also singled for Northview.

Heath Burkett picked up the win on the mound.  He pitched five innings, giving up one run, on four hits.  He walked one batter and struck out six.  His record is 1-0 on the season.

Northview 16 Flomaton 2

Northview beat Flomaton 16-2 in five innings Friday night during the first game of the tournament.

Panhandle All-Star Cheer Team Places First in Orange Beach Nationals

pact111.jpgThe Panhandle All-Star Cheer Team  picked up a first place win in their category Saturday at the Orange Beach Nationals.

The All-Stars, which include girls from across the area, recently placed second in the Saltwater Championship All-Star Level 2  that was held at the Pensacola Civic Center.
