Baseball: West Florida Takes Two From Northview

The West Florida Jaguars took two from the Northview Chiefs Tuesday in Bratt.

In junior varsity action, West Florida defeated Northview 3-2.
And in varsity action, the Jaguars beat Northview 6-4. Hunter Rigby was 3-3 with a double for the Chiefs.
The Chief and Jaguars will face off again Thursday in a junior varsity double header at West Florida beginning at 4 p.m. On Friday, the varsity Chiefs will be on the road at Bonifay at 6 p.m.

Baseball: Tate Sweeps Pine Forest

The Tate Aggies swept the Pine Forest Eagles Tuesday.
The varsity Aggies beat the Eagles of Pine Forest 4-1. while the junior varsity Tate Aggies beat the Pine Forest JV by the score 8-3.
The Aggies will host the Pace Patriots Thursday in a district game. The varsity takes the field at 7 p.m. Tate’s varsity will be in action again Friday night as they host Navarre in another district matchup.
Pcola’s East Hill Christian Defeats Atmore Christian

Pensacola’s East Hill Christian defeated Atmore Christian Tuesday in high school baseball action, 13-5.
The Atmore Christian Rams will travel to Milton on Thursday to take on Santa Rosa Christian Academy at 4:00. Up next for the Rams will be another road trip to Milton on March 12 against West Florida Baptist.

Escambia Academy Beats Monroe

Escambia Academy beat Monroe Academy on Monday 1-0.
Michael Thompson led the charge against Monroe, striking out 12, and allowing just two hits in seven inning. Cole Boatwright was 3-3, with a double in the fourth and a single in second and sixth.
Other hitters from EA’s Cougars were Chance Jackson, Reid Bell, Jarrett Hadley, Austin McGhee, Braxton Chastang and Boatwright.
The Cougars only run came with an RBI single by Bell in the seventh.
Locals Place In Boogie On Down 5K For United Cerebral Palsy

Several North Escambia residents took part in the Circle K 5K Run/Walk Benefiting Local Affiliates of United Cerebral Palsy on Pensacola Beach over the weekend.
Two local residents finished first in their divisions. April Conaster of Molino finished the rain-shortened 5K walk in fifth place overall, first in the female 1-39 division. Julie Keith of Molino also finished first in her division (female 10-14) in the 5K run.

Zumba: 800 Calorie Workout For Two Bucks A Class

Get ready to Zumba — it’s a chance to get fit, have fun and burn up to 800 calories per hour — all for two bucks a class.
Zumba is “an exciting and effective fitness class that burns up to 800 calories per hour,” according to Shannon Erdwins, financial analyst by day, Zumba teacher by night. “Ditch the workout, join the party.”
Zumba combines Latin and international music with dance steps for an upbeat, high-energy workout.
The Escambia County Community School Zumba class is offered Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m,. at Ransom Middle School at 1000 Kingsfield Road.

Saturday Northview DCT Softball Tourney Canceled

A coed softball tournament set for Saturday in Walnut Hill has been canceled due to weather.

Byrd, Clark, Barrow Named To Subway All-Star Basketball Roster

Three North Escambia players were included as the Pensacola Sports Association announced the rosters for the 2012 Subway High School All-Star Basketball Game.
Taylor Byrd from Northview and Katie Clark from Tate were named to the West Girls team, and Zach Barrow from Northview was named to the West Boys team.
The 2nd annual all-star game is scheduled for Friday, March 9 at Pensacola State College. Beginning at 6 p.m., the women will take the court with the men’s game to follow. This year’s game features some of the best seniors from Okaloosa and Santa Rosa Counties (East) playing against the seniors from Escambia County (West).
Tickets to the game are only $8. Fans are encouraged to bring canned good items to donate to the Manna Food Pantry to get a discount on game admission. Additionally, $1 of every ticket will go toward the Dr. Alec Kessler Scholarship Foundation. Dr. Kessler played for the University of Georgia and the Miami Heat before becoming a surgeon at the Andrews Institute. He passed away in 2007 from a heart attack. The scholarship winners will be announced at the all-star banquet.

Northview Splits Baseball Games With Washington

The Northview Chiefs split a couple of baseball games with Washington High School Monday in Pensacola.
The junior varsity Northview Chiefs defeated Washington 8-5. The win ups the junior varsity’s record to 2-1 on the year.
In varsity action, Washington defeated Northview 6-1.
The varsity Chiefs will open district play Friday night as they travel to Chipley to take on the Tigers at 6 p.m.
