Lady Aggies Topped; Hosting Strike Out Cancer Game Friday

The Tate Lady Aggies were topped 4-2 by Navarre Wednesday night.

Friday, the Lady Aggies will host their sixth annual “Strike Out Cancer Game” against thethe West Florida High Jaguars. All gat admissions, concessions and donations collected will benefit the Pensacola Chapter of the American Cancer Society for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The JV plays at 4:30, with the varsity game beginning at 6:30.

Northview Lifters Qualify For Regionals

Six Northview weightlifters qualified for the regional meet Monday during a district meet against Jay, West Florida and Catholic at Jay.

The following Northview lifters place in the top 3 at the district meet to qualify for the April 1 regional meet at Arnold High School in Panama City:

  • 119-lb. class: Greg Pressley, 3rd place
  • 129-lb. class: Everette Garvey, 1st place; Brandon Wilson, 2nd place
  • 169-lb class: Jaylen Parker, 2nd place
  • 183-lb class: Justin Kite, 3rd place
  • 238-lb class: Ronald Harris, 3rd place

Tate High Chaparrals Winter Guard Wins Regional Championship

The Tate High School Chaparrals won first place in the 2015 WGI Scholastic Regional A Championship this weekend. They will move on to the circuit championships on March 28.

The Chaparrals are the oldest competitive scholastic winter guard in the nation and former world champions. They begin competing this season in late January.

Tate’s Perfect Season Continues With Win Over Crestview

March 15, 2015

The Tate Aggies topped Crestview 9-6 Saturday, making the Aggies a perfect 10-0 on the season, 5-0 in 1-7A.

The winning pitcher was Logan McGuffey, allowing two hits while striking out three. Trace Penton was 3-3 with two RBI’s, a double and a run. Jacob Saulnier was 1-3 with a home run and two RBI’s. Branden Fryman and Cole Halfacre were 2-3. Logan Blackmon was 2-2 for the Aggies.

Tate will host the 22nd Annual Aggie Classic baseball tournament next week, with their first game against Shawnee, OK, at 7 p.m. Monday.

Tate Head Football Coach Ronnie Douglas Resigns

March 13, 2015

Tate High School’s Ronnie Douglas has resigned after two seasons as head football coach.

Douglas said he must take care of his outside car wash businesses. He told his coaching staff of the decision Thursday.

He led the Aggies on two trips to the playoffs in his two seasons with a 8-3 record in his first season and a 9-3 record in his second season. The back-to-back play off appearances were the first for the Tate Aggies since the 1976 and 1977 seasons. Before Douglas, the Aggies won a four total games during three seasons.

FloridaHighSchoolFootball.com also named Douglas as the All-Panhandle Coach of the Year.

NHS JV Baseball Over WFHS; Jay Softball Downs NHS, Tate Over Milton

Northview 4, West Florida 2 (JV)

The Junior Varsity Northview Chiefs defeated West Florida High School 4-2 Thursday in Pensacola. The Chiefs are back in action, weather permitting, today at Freeport. The JV plays at 4:00 followed by the varsity district game at 6:30.

SOFTBALL

Tate 6, Milton 0
Tate 11, Milton 2 (JV)

The Tate Lady Aggies  topped Milton 6-0 Thursday. Savannah Rowell was on the mound for seven for Tate, striking out eight while allowing two hits. Lauren Brennon was 2-3 at the plate with a doulbe and RBI. Casey McCrackin was 3-4 with an RBI; Rachel Wright was 2-3; Ashley Barnett was 1-2 and Zaria Anderson was 1-1 for Tate.

The Lady Aggies will travel to Niceville on Friday, JV at 4:00 and varsity at 6:00.

Jay 12, Northview 2

The Jay Royals beat the Northview Chiefs 12-2 Thursday in Jay.  Dana Blackmon pitched six for the Royals, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out five. Michaela Stewart was 3-3 with two runs, two RBI’s, a double and a home run. Also for Jay:: Kolby Bray 3-4, 3 R, RBI, 3B; Harley Tagert 2-3, 1R, 2 RBI; Destiny Herring 2-4, 1 RBI; Avarie Jackson 2-2, 2 R.

Jay (8-3, 4-1) will host Baker at 6 p.m. Friday. Northview is set to host Holmes County with the varsity game at 6:00, following a 4 p.m. JV game.
