Northview Volleyball Sweeps Central; Childhood Cancer Benefit Game Monday

The Northview Chiefs swept Central Thursday in both varsity and junior varsity volleyball. The NHS varsity won 25-19, 25-14, 25-22. The JV Lady Chiefs beat Central 25-19, 25-10.

On Tuesday, the JV Lady Chiefs defeated Jay 25-19, 25-19. while Jay beat Northview’s varsity 25-16, 25-20, 13-25, 25-21. And on Monday, Laurel Hill defeated Northview in varsity action, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15.
The Northview Lady Chiefs will host a “Gold Digger” game at 5 p.m. Monday against Lighthouse Christian. All proceeds will go to the American Childhood Cancer Organization.
“We”d love to have a big crowd come out to support our Lady Chiefs,” Northview coach Ashley Salter said. “We will also honor our award winners from our volleyball camp that night too.”

Cross Country Team Runs For Childhood Cancer Awareness

Northview High School’s country team ran for a childhood cancer awareness Tuesday, with team members wearing symbolic gold bandanas during their meet with Flomaton and Jay.
The team ran in honor of 11-year old Brooklyn Alana Davison, a 10-year survivor of a rare Neuroblastoma cancer. Davison is a sixth grader at Stapleton Elementary School in Baldwin County and the special friend of a Northview cross country team member.

Jay ran individual male runners.
Girls

- Northview
Flomaton did not enter any female runners.

Century Blackcats Show Off New Uniforms
September 18, 2018
The Century Sports Association president stopped by the Century Town Council meeting Monday night to show off the teams’ new uniforms, and to thank the council for their support.
In July, the town council voted to contribute $1,600 towards the purchase of 75 new uniforms. The total purchase price was $4,860.
Century Sports President Amanuel Dobose said program is a positive influence for Century’s youth.
Century’s games begin at 5 p.m. as below for the remainder of the season:
· Sept. 22 – Century at Castleberry
· Sept. 29 – Repton at Century (Homecoming)
· Oct. 6 – Frisco City at Century
· Oct. 13- Century at Georgiana
· Oct. 20 – Beatrice at Century
· Oct. 27 – Jamboree, location TBA

Cantonment’s Strictly Business Wins 10U Tournament

Cantonment 10U Strictly Business took home the championship Saturday in the first annual USSSA Gulf Coast Recreation All Star Showdown charity tournament in Pace.
Strictly Business was 4-0 in tournament play, defeating the Fairhope All Stars 17-12 in the championship game.

PHS Tops Tate 21-7
September 15, 2018
The Pensacola High Tigers topped the Tate Aggies 21-7 Friday night.
On their first drive of the game, the Aggies scored on a quarterback keeper from Hunter Riggan with 9:45 to go in the first for a 7-0 lead. The Tigers answered to tie it at 7-7 in the second.
But PHS held Tate scoreless in the last three quarters.
Tate had won the previous three meetings between the teams, both of which went into Friday night at 1-2.
The Tate High School Aggies will be at Milton next Friday night with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
Fourth-Ranked Blountstown Stops Northview 35-19
September 15, 2018
The Northview Chiefs lost a hard-fought game 35-19 on the road Friday night against the Blountstown Tigers, the state’s fourth-ranked team in 1A.
The Chiefs and the Tigers were both 2-1 headed into Friday night’s contest as the Chiefs were looking for payback for a 46-point loss to the Tigers last year in Bratt.
“It was a hard-fought game,” Northview Coach Derek Marshman said. “I’m proud of how our kids battled, battled back from 20-6.”
Northview took an early 6-0 lead on their first possession of the game, but Blountstown answered with 20 points to make it 20-6 by the end of the first.
“We had two good opportunities in the fourth that we just could not capitalize on, including a tough interception…We are going to get back excited and show improvements to get back on a winning track to get to 3-2,” Marshman said.
Northview will host Holmes County next Friday night at 7:00.

Ernest Middle Defeats W.S. Neal 28-0

The Ernest Ward Middle School Eagles opened their season Thursday night with a 28-0 win over W.S. Neal in East Brewton.

Northview Splits V-Ball With Flomaton; Tate Wins Golf Match

Northview Volleyball
The Northview Lady Chiefs split volleyball games with Flomaton Thursday. The Northview JV defeated Flomaton 25-15, 25-27, 15-9, and the Flomaton varsity topped Northview 25-17, 25-27, 25-22, 25-18. The Lady Chiefs are on the road Monday at Lighthouse Christian and Tuesday at Jay before returning home to host Central on Thursday.
Tate Golf
In high school golf Thursday, Tate came out on top with a score of 194, followed by Washington with 212 and Pensacola High with 224. Individual medalists were JT Semple from Tate with 40, Jett Zhang of PHS with 45 and Jace Anthony from Washington with 46.

PCA, Tate And Northview Teams Place In Cross Country Meet (With Gallery)

Pensacola Christian Academy took the top spot among male and female teams during a cross county meet at Northview High School in Bratt.
In addition to PCA and Northview, Tate, Central and Flomaton high schools also took part.
Team results were as follows:
Boys
1st. – Pensacola Christian Academy
2nd – Tate High School
3rd – Northview High School
Central ran individual male runners but not a team.
Girls
1st – Pensacola Christian
2nd – Northview High Schoo
