Obituary
David Gilbert Jasso graced this world on November 13, 1969, and entered the arms of our Lord surrounded by his loved ones on October 13, 2023.
David, or Dave as most called him, leaves behind a vast family who held him dear. He was the beloved son of Gil and Ann Jasso, the cherished brother of Greg Jasso and Susie Murphy, and brother-in-law to Ross Murphy. His wider family circle, which includes Clyde and Kathy Waller, Tommy and Jodi Waller, Wade and Ashley Hatcher, and many loving nieces and nephews, will forever hold warm memories of him. His legacy lives on through his three sons, who resemble him so much – Chad David, Charles Gregory, and Caden Thomas. By his side was his endlessly supportive and dear wife, Amy Jasso.
Born in Sumpter, SC, Dave’s childhood was filled with travels, thanks to his father’s Air Force duty, which took them around the U.S. and beyond. Though he enjoyed many of these places, he held Texas and New Mexico close to his heart, proudly claiming them as home. He played football and baseball in his youth and in high school. His love for sports only grew stronger in the years after, through coaching and cheering for his boys.
After high school, Dave attended the US Naval Academy. He was commissioned in May of 1992 and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in July 1994. While stationed in Pensacola, he found love, marrying Amy on September 24, 1994.
Dave’s first duty station took him to Whidbey Island, WA, where he became a part of the EA6-B community, earned his legendary call sign “Assman”, and built bonds that felt like family. After a distinguished Naval career, which included support for Operations Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, Dave returned to Naval Station Pensacola for a third time in March 2012, where he served as NASP Executive Officer. Dave reported to Jacksonville University Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in April 2015, where he served as the unit’s Executive Officer.
Retirement from the Navy led Dave to a new passion. Alongside Amy and with the help of a loyal, supportive staff, he opened Cantonment Ace Hardware in 2018. The store was a mirror to Dave’s own character – honesty, friendliness, and down-home candor.
Dave’s love for family, friends, his nation, and faith were evident in all aspects of his life. He enjoyed coaching his sons in football, baseball, and lacrosse, and later took joy in cheering them on from the stands. Quiet family weekends meant the world to him, especially when they involved watching his favorite teams – the Crimson Tide and the Dallas Cowboys – with his family. Always at the helm of the grill, Dave channeled his passion to serve up barbecue at gatherings with friends and family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Fr. James Valenzuela celebrant. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, with full Navy honors.
In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the fight against ALK-positive cancer, a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. ALK-positive cancer is a type of cancer with no known cause and no known cure. No one should have to go through the journey Dave did.
Dave’s greatest legacy is the way he lived his life every day – his generosity to others, his quiet humor, and his very unique dance moves. We are all better for having known him. Fair winds and following seas, until we meet again.

Michael Elvin Peak, 55, of Pensacola, Florida passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. He was born in
Pensacola, Florida on January 8, 1968 to Mary Peak Parker and Elvin Peak. He was married to his
wife, Christina Sparks-Peak for 23 years. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Pensacola.
He has a passion for his family, football, and fishing.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Peak Parker, and his step-father, Legic Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Peak; sister, Teresa; children, Kheyndra (Josh), Korrie (Eddie),
Rich, Hailee (David), Noah; and his grandchildren, Avery, Jacob, Raylynn, Alivia, and Rhett.
A funeral service for Michael Elvin Peak will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Faith
Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Julian Walker officiating. Michael will be laid to rest at
Huelsbeck Cemetery.

Linda Faye Nelson Cox, 80, of Berrydale, FL passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was born in Century, FL and had lived in Berrydale for the last fifty years. She graduated from Allentown high school, Pensacola Junior college, and Faulkner State, and had worked for thirty years with the Santa Rosa County School Board.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Nelson and Violet Lee Holland Nelson, and her husband Billy Max Cox.
Survivors include her brother, Eddie Leonard Nelson Jr; uncle, Aaron Holland; aunt, Ola Mae Gill; her niece, Susana Michelle Caris; Nephew, Eddie Leonard Nelson III; several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Jay Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Lassiter officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM
Donald Ray White, Jr.

Donald Ray White, Jr. left for his heavenly home on October 7, 2023, at the age of 56.
Ray, as he was best known, was born in Brewton, Alabama, but lived most of his life in Jay and Milton, Florida. He was an alumnus of Jay High School and the University of West Florida. He dedicated his life to the service of Santa Rosa County, working in the Road and Bridge Department for almost 30 years. He was a dedicated Christian and a member of Harold First Baptist Church. His parents were Donald Ray White Sr. and Nora Nobley White Hunsucker.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Ray is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nelda Campbell White; his three children Brittany, Brandon, and Bethany White; his mother, Nora Nobley White Hunsucker; and his sister, Susan White Powell.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Lewis Funeral Home Pace Chapel, 4777 West Spencer Field Road Pace, Florida 32571, with visitation from 1:00-2:00pm and service at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Elizabeth Chapel Cemetery.

Glenn Lee Calloway of McDavid, Florida passed away on October 11, 2023 at the age of 75.
He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 13, 1947 to the late Comer Lee Calloway and Elma McCurdy Calloway.
Glenn was an accomplished welder/millwright with International Paper. He was a proud Veteran and a Master Mason. Glenn enjoyed racing and was a member of the Southern Outlaw Gassers.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Calloway; and great granddaughter, Lyla Rose Mathis.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Belinda Eller Calloway; children, Kerrie Ann (Troy) Kersey and Jason (Beth) Calloway, Heather (Slick) Roley, Nikki Eller, and Danny (Kristi) Eller; grandchildren, Heather (John) Smith, Lacey (Jake) Stewart, Brittany Calloway, Brandon Calloway (Sarah Siemsen), Alex Ferris, Danny Gay, Alanna Gay, Falicia Maddox, Makinzi Roley, Hunter Eller, and Cami Eller; great grandchildren, Kayden, Evelyn, Jaxton, Raylee, Ryli, Ryan, Aiden, Kali, Kynlee, Weston, Zane, Myiah, Grayson, and Rivers.

Genevieve E. Avery, age 94, of Atmore, AL passed away on September 27, 2023 in Fairhope, AL. She was born on January 4, 1929 in Woodland, PA to Harry Reuben Jordan and Mary Barnyak Jordan. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Atmore and Atmore Garden Club, was the oldest club in Alabama. She along with her late husband, William Avery, owned and operated the Wagon Wheel. She was beloved by her town and The Meadows of Atmore. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Avery, and her brothers, Harry Reuben “Toots” Jordan, David Lee Jordan, and Milton Jordan.
She is survived by her loving family and friends around the country.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First United Methodist Church of Atmore.

, age 86, of Bratt, FL passed away on October 8, 2023. She was born on January 3, 1937 in Evergreen, AL to Grady Brooks and Katie Earnestine Reid Brooks. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and retired from Vanity Fair Corporation. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tammy Ann Martin and her sister, Betty Hilburn.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alton Killam of Bratt, FL; her son, Tony Killam of Bratt, FL; her brothers Jessie (Earlene) Brooks of Uriah, AL and Robert (Elaine) Brooks of Frisco City, AL; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Matt Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL.

Mr. Dwight Henry Brewer, age 68, passed away, Monday, October 2, 2023, in Century, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Flomaton, AL.
Mr. Brewer was an avid Alabama Football Fan and also liked watching a good western. He always enjoyed growing a vegetable garden, especially tomatoes. He really enjoyed going to the river and fishing, and was a skilled paint and body technician.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle (Evelene Baker) Brewer, and one brother, Ronnie Brewer.
He is survived by his one son, Rodney (Roxy) Brewer, of Franklin, AL; two daughters, Kayla (John) Webb, of McDavid, FL; Lindsey Brewer of Century, FL; four grandchildren, Peyton Brewer, Troy Brewer, Jon Clifton Buckhault, Everlee Conway; one great-grandchild, Judson Brewer; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held, Friday, October 6, 2023 at 2:00PM at Flomaton Cemetery with Bro. Alvin Cook officiating.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Brewer, Peyton Brewer, Troy Brewer, Clifton Buckhault, Adam Buckley, and Jim Blankenship.

William Joseph ‘Bill’ Bonifay

William Joseph “Bill” Bonifay, Jr, 79, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023.
Bill was a direct descendant of Marianna Pingrow Bonifay of the founding families of Pensacola, FL. He was born in Pensacola, FL on April 22, 1944, into a Navy family, traveling much of his early life. He graduated from Tate High School in 1962 and served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict rising to the rank of E-5. In 1969, Bill married his beloved wife, Charlotte Nowell of Pensacola.
Bill worked most of his life as an Electrician, became a certified Thermographer and retired from Air Products in Pace, FL after 31 years. He spent much of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America where he was a past leader at the Troop, Council, Regional, and National levels. Bill served in the Ducks Unlimited programs for the youth, the National Rifle Association for the youth, was an Amateur Radio Operator, sponsored the Local Amateur Radio Field Day, was Past President of a local Gun Club and of a local Amateur Radio Repeater Club.
He was a member of the Ensley Masonic Lodge # 278 and was a 32nd degree Mason. Bill became a member of the Pensacola Scottish Rite on April 7, 1982, and a Perpetual member, 33rd degree. He was a member of the Past Knights of Saint Andrews, was Past President of the North Escambia Club, Past Commander of the Council of Kadosh, completed the Member Training program, the Master Craftsman program and received several Double Eagle Awards.
Bill became a Noble of the Hadji Shrine Temple on November 12, 1988, where he helped raise funds for the Children’s Hospital. He served as a Scottish Rite Liaison, as the Hadji Chief Teller, and received the Hadji Scimitar Jewel. Bill was also a member of the Royal Order of Scotland.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Bonifay, as well as his sister, Susan Bonifay.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte Bonifay; two sons, Jason and Dustin Bonifay; a sister, Ann Kidwell; as well as his nephew, Lyle Simmons and niece, Julie Simmons.
Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until the Funeral Service to begin at 3:00pm Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Bill Flanigan officiating. A funeral procession will depart Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel at 9:30am for a Graveside Service to begin at 10:00am Friday, October 6, 2023, at Barrancas National Cemetery, with Army honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hadji Children’s Transportation Fund, 800 W. 9 Mile Rd., Pensacola, FL 32534.

Leslie Carole Clark Tuley

Leslie Carole Clark Tuley, 52, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
Leslie was born July 29,1971, in Pensacola, FL, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Woodham High School in 1989 and then attended the University of West Florida. There she met and later married her first husband, Jim Howard, in 1991. Her one foray away from Pensacola came when Jim’s employment transferred him to Illinois for a short time until they could find their way back. For 20+ years, she totally involved herself in the raising of three beautiful daughters. She nurtured them through elementary and middle school, and by the time they became students at Tate High School, she became a chorus volunteer for Destiny, a band parent for Kathryn, and a theatre audience for Angela. It was through theatre that she met director Steven Tuley. The next chapter of her life was ready to be opened, and she married Steven in 2014. For the last nine years of her life, Leslie recaptured her love of cross-stitching and jigsaw puzzling. She could enjoy quiet times sitting on the couch watching TV with Steve and her constant companion, Lily, who grieves her loss immensely. She was working on overcoming some plaguing health problems so they could enjoy their time together after Steve’s retirement.
Leslie is preceded in death by her parents, Gene Pearson Clark and Kathryn Annette Drummond Clark.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Robert Tuley; parents, Michael Warren Brock & Patricia Elaine Crane Brock; daughters, Destiny Elaine Howard (Blake) Thompson, Angela Gail Howard Holzapfel and Jonathan Holzapfel, and Kathryn Lorraine Howard; grandson, Wallace Edward Holzapfel; brother, Michael Russell (Tina) Brock; friend, Jim Howard; as well as a large and extended group of family and friends whom she dearly loved.
A visitation will be held 1:00pm until a Celebration of Life begins at 2:00pm Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32504.
