Mary Lou Irene Shaw

Mary Lou Irene Shaw, 89, of Pensacola, FL died peacefully after a long hard fight with dementia and CHF on Saturday, June 29, 2024.
She was born on March 28, 1935, in Port Huron, MI to the late Arthur and Madeline Stanyer. She grew up and spent most of her life in the Lake Port and Port Huron areas. In the last 4 years of her life, she moved to Pensacola, FL to live with her daughter.
Mary Lou had a true love for children. She worked for the Foster Grandparent program in Port Huron for over 11 years. She was honored with the annual Emperor Penguin Award in 2012 for her exceptional work in the Foster Grandparent program. The Penguin Award is given to foster grandparents who sustain the goal of providing excellence in children’s education. She loved to teach etiquette to the younger children so that they would grow up and be polite adults. She loved to dance as well. You could catch her on any dance floor…weddings, senior dances, at her senior independent living facility, etc. She loved to grab folks who may have been wallflowers and get them to dance with her. Even people in wheelchairs she would love to spin them around to make sure that they participated in the dances. Mary Lou loved to travel with her daughter to just about anywhere. She was able to travel to Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico…and her favorite spot Kauai – Hawaii.
She is survived by her four children Gordon Albert Shaw (Debra), Frederick Arthur Shaw, Rodney Alan Shaw (Cristina) and Laura L. (Lorie) Shaw, 5 grandchildren – Whitney Provost (Adam), Jenna George (David), Aubrey Shaw, Leslie Ann Shaw-Shef (Nik), Rodney Allan Shaw II (Monica), and 9 great-grandchildren (Ashley, Kaylah, Rodney III, Hunter, Collette, Gabrielle, Brooks, Kyra, and Kalista).
There will be a memorial service in Pensacola, FL on August 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Faith Chapel – North, 1000 S. Highway 29, Cantonment, FL 32533. A meal will be provided at the conclusion of the memorial service at the event center at Faith Chapel North. The memorial service will be live-streamed for those who can’t make the service.
There will be a final resting place memorial service held in Port Huron, Mi September 28th, 2024. The grave site memorial will be held at 11 AM at the Ruby Cemetery, North Street, Michigan. A meal will follow at the Dorsey House, North Street, MI.
Marjorie Sue Martin

Marjorie Sue Martin, born to Robert Newton and Neca Allgood in Lexington, Alabama, on August 7, 1935, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 26, 2024. Known for her spunky personality and boundless energy, Marjorie lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
Her journey took her from Alabama to Pensacola, FL, where she worked at the old Chemstrand plant (now Ascend). It was there that she met the love of her life, Francis Lee Martin. After leaving Chemstrand to raise her family, she later attended cosmetology school and became a hairdresser, bringing beauty and smiles to many.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Frances and her son Jeffery O’Neal, Marjorie is survived by her son Pistol (Vi), daughter-in-law Ann, son Matt and grandchildren Nicole (David) Snyder, Stephani (Steven) Pyron, Kristen (Blake) Holcombe, Bradley (Heather) Martin, and Kelly (Corey) Strange. She also leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, each a testament to the loving family she nurtured.
Marjorie had a passion for gardening and flowers, working for several florists over the years. She was also a dedicated softball player, continuing to play well into her 70s. Her creative talents shined in her quilting; she made countless quilts for children’s hospitals and nursing homes, each stitch a labor of love.
A faithful member of Gonzalez Methodist Church for over 50 years, Marjorie found joy and community in her church family.
Though her greatest happiness came from working in the shop with her family and going to many craft shows throughout the years.
Marjorie was also known for her cooking, especially her famous cubed potatoes, a dish she tried to teach her family to make but one that remained uniquely hers. She loved fishing and camping and cherished taking her grandchildren on trips to North Alabama and Bonifay, creating memories they will hold dear forever.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and Muriel Fingers Sitters Services for their compassionate care.
Marjorie’s zest for life and her unwavering love for her family will be remembered with smiles and fondness by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held at Gonzalez Methodist Church on August 7, 2014. Visitation will begin at 10 am service to follow at 11.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gonzalez Methodist Church to assist in the purchasing of a new HVAC system.
Nora La Verne Nobley White Hunsucker

Nora La Verne Nobley White Hunsucker passed away on July 26, 2024, and went home to Heaven to be with Jesus and to join many precious loved ones and dear friends. Nora was born on July 12, 1946, at home, in Jay, FL. Nora was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Ray White, Sr. (married almost 35 years), and their beloved son, Donald “Ray” White, Jr. Nora was also preceded by her second husband, Robert “Bob” James Hunsucker, Sr. After losing their first spouses due to extended illness, lovebirds Bob and Nora found that love the second time around was even sweeter, and they were blessed with 13 precious years together. Nora’s life changed dramatically from being the wife of a Produce Manager and Pastor (New Hopewell Baptist Church) to becoming the wife of a very jolly retired Navy sailor who loved NASCAR. Nora was also preceded by her parents, Daniel Harris Nobley and Vera La Verne Nelson Nobley Bowman Nall Stanton, along with her siblings: Curtis Harris Nobley, Gladys Annie Nobley, and Brady Eugene Nobley.
Nora is survived by her daughter, Susan White Powell (and husband Ron), her daughter-in-law, Nelda Campbell White, and her dear grandchildren: Brittany, Brandon, and Bethany White. Nora is also survived by numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, along with many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends and neighbors. Nora will also be missed by her “grand-cats” and “grand-chickens,” from the Powell farm, most especially her namesakes, Hen La Verne and Hen Nora, who were often blessed with treats and toys from Grandma.
Nora graduated from Jay High School in 1964 and Pensacola Junior College in 1966. She worked at Southern Bell Telephone, several sewing plants (Judy Bond, Shapely, Dixie Apparel, Vanity Fair, and Russell Corporation), and Touch One Communications. Her final career was her favorite, working as an Exemptions Specialist at the Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser’s Office. She enjoyed helping customers, especially the challenging ones! Nora had a great sense of humor. No matter where she was working, she made the workplace more fun for her co-workers, whom she considered to be her extended family.
Nora’s love for Southern gospel music and hymns was demonstrated through her piano playing, which began in her teenage years. She added her personal “pep” to the songs as she played for local singing conventions, revivals, her home church, and impromptu family singings. Nora was a talented seamstress, she enjoyed crocheting, and she loved to cook (and eat) especially anything chocolate. Nora’s motto was, “Life is short. Eat dessert first.” Nora loved God and loved people. She never met a stranger, and she was generous, thoughtful and encouraging to others. She was a member of Harold First Baptist Church. She touched many lives throughout her life on this earth and will be greatly missed!
A very special thanks to numerous medical professionals and first responders who cared for Nora in recent months and years, especially Dr. Messe, Dr. Foreman, Milton Fire Department, Munson Fire Chief John King, Lifeguard Ambulance, VITAS Hospice, and her guardian angels at her final rest stop, Silvercrest Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be held at the chapel of Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, FL on Sat., Aug. 3, 2024, at 3:30 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m.. Pastors Brian Deida and Willie Oglesbee will be officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetary (next door). Chapel service will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend. Floral tributes are appreciated, but Nora would also encourage you to bless someone else instead.
Robert ‘Bo’ Eldridge Bartley

Robert “Bo” Eldridge Bartley, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday afternoon, July 28, 2024.
Robert was born January 8, 1937, to Ernest and Ruby Bartley in Walnut Hill, FL. He grew up there and attended Ernest Ward School. Following High School graduation, he joined the Army National Guard for eight years.
In 1958, he married his High School sweetheart, Nina Brown and moved to Pensacola, FL for six years. They had a son, Scott, in 1962 and soon moved back to Walnut Hill where they spent 64 years married to each other.
Robert worked at NADEP on NAS Pensacola as a Soldering Training Specialist from 1957 to 1992. He loved helping people with a wide variety of needs, always serving others first. Everyone who knew Robert, loved him and his gentle, kind nature and servant’s heart. He was very active in his church, serving in many capacities, including Sunday School Teacher and Deacon for many years. He also enjoyed working with stained glass.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Bartley and his father, Ernest Bartley. He is survived by his wife, Nina Bartley, son, Scott (Brenda) Bartley of Pensacola, and sister, Faye Franklin of Atmore, AL.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Greg Sellers, Pastor Roy Chewning, Pastor Jesse Wood and Pastor Tim Hawsey officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

, 63, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away on July 27, 2024. She was born in Hawthorne, California on August 14, 2024 to Dale and Ilaree Specht. She was married to Larry Dye for 26 years. She worked as an accountant for Santino’s, and Groovin-Noovin’s Stores. She had a passion for Life, Family and Travels.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Dale and Ilaree Specht, and her sister, Michelle Specht. She is survived by her sons, Brian Hedden, Chris (Brandy) Hedden, Tim Hedden; bonus sons, Joe (Vara) Dye, Chuck (Casey) Hedden; granddaughters, Airiana Hedden, Camryn Hedden and Nora Hedden; brother, Harlan (Glenda) Specht.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, Florida 32533. Visitation will be prior to service at 1:30 p.m. Event room will follow visitation from 3-5 p.m.

John Raymond Yvarra, 67, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away July 21, 2024. He was born in Ventura, California on July 23, 1957 to Consuelo Perez and Edward Rudolph Yvarra. John worked as a golf
course superintendent in design and landscaping for Marcus Pointe Golf Club Pensacola and The Martines Corporation.
He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Boy Scouts of America, Okaloosa Rugby (RFC). He had a passion for his grandchildren, and sports of any kind. John was preceded in death by his parents, Consuelo Perez and Edward Rudolph Yvarra; son, Timothy Lane Scherer.
May you rest in peace, your legacy will be continued among us, with your loving spirit carried on by his wife, Patricia Yvarra; his children, Melissa Hadder, James Hadder, Damen Hadder, Gabrielle Hadder and Christian Raymond Hadder; and numerous grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Edward (Rebecca) Yvarra his two sisters, Marian Page, Chris Yvarra and little brother Pat and Robin Yvarra; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chris Sherouse

Chris Sherouse, age 53, of Cantonment FL passed away July 20, 2024. Sadly, Chris was diagnosed 2 months prior with a rare and aggressive type of lymphoma. The only pain suffered is the pain in our hearts as he left us way too soon. But in true Chris style, our funny guy was still joking around right until the very end.
Chris was born in Pensacola, FL to Ladye Constance Armstrong and Jimmy Lavon Sherouse. He has been with his wife Tracy for almost 19 years, served in the United States Marine Corps when he was young, and worked at GE for 16 years.
Chris loved so many things in this world. The ocean, the woods, campfires, fishing, hunting, family, friends (including furry friends), grilling and feeding the neighbors, softball, and most importantly his three girls and Ruby. He was always so happy to lend a hand and help others even while he was sick. Most people don’t know this about Chris, but a lot of days he woke up early just to watch the sunrise…especially recently.
Chris was such a prankster! Just ask those who were fortunate enough to receive a lick on the face at every greeting. We laughed a little thinking “in lieu of flowers” please bring a wooden spoon as he was always known to stir the pot. Chris’ final wish was to be laid to rest in a reef ball so now he doesn’t have to sneak out to go fishing with bologna in his pocket!
He is preceded in death by his mother Connie Armstrong, his aunt Barbara Busby, and his grandmother Hazel Pope.
He is survived by his wife Tracy Sherouse and daughters, Katelyn & Natalee. His father Jimmy Sherouse and wife Patty, stepfather Buddy Armstrong, sister Nikki Smith and husband Kent with nieces Mia and Cara, his brother Wes Sherouse and wife Amber with nieces Abigail and Ainsley and nephew Noah, stepsister Carol Armstrong, and stepbrothers David Armstrong and Ronnie Armstrong. He is also survived by his Texas family George and Christine Stobart, Jennifer, Roy, Lauren, Buck, Brandy, Bailey, Logan, Bentley, Bo, and Addy.
A celebration of life for Chris will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Cantonment, FL on Friday, August 9 at 1pm. Donations in honor of Chris may be made to the T-Cell Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation specifically HSTCL.

Bennie Charles “Chuck” Presley, Jr., age 52, of Wawbeek, AL passed away on July 16, 2024. He was born on August 31, 1971 in Monroeville, AL to Bennie C. and Carolyn Till Presley, Sr. Chuck was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He was faithful and humble in carrying out God’s mission sharing the Gospel of Christ. Chuck valued studying his Bible and cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing with his dog, Cali and working in his yard. He was a Technician with Frontier Communications. He is preceded in death by his father, Bennie Charles Presley, Sr.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Tammy Jefferies Presley; his children, Blake (Mary) Presley, Madison (Matthew) Cook and Ashtyn (Nate) Donald; his grandchildren, Griffin Cook and Eden Presley; his mother, Carolyn Presley; his sisters, Ronda Woodard, Regina (Huey) Swilley, Melissa Presley and Chasity (Robert) McGillivray, and his extended family, Karissa Knight and her children, Peyton Lee, Landon Lee, and Remi Knight.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Atmore, AL with Bro. Floyd Harris, Pastor Gene King and his son-in-law, Bro. Matthew Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Lura Mae Thomas, 91, of Cantonment, Florida, passed away on July 21, 2024. She is now at peace and resting in the arms of her Savior.
Lura was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 21, 1933, to Robert Nathan Thompson and Grace Seale Thompson.
Lura lived life to the fullest. She loved bling, red and gaudy jewelry. She loved people and always wanted those around her to be happy and have a good time.
She loved her church families. For years she served as the door greeter at Harvest Christian Center and in recent years was the greeter at Calvary Way Full Gospel Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Grace Thompson, husband Malcolm Thomas Sr; her brother Robert Thompson Jr; her sister Elsie Haddox; two of her sons Jackie Thomas and Robert Otis Thomas.
She is survived by sons Malcolm Thomas (Sandra); and John Thomas (Lois). 8 grandchildren: Rhonda Fleming (Durward), Rebekah Shamburger (Jeremy); Jackie Thomas Jr (Rachel), Laura White (Lee), Tara Johns (James), Robert Thomas Jr (Collyn), Nathan Thomas (Crystal), Charles Thomas (Christina). 19 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Jackie Thomas Jr, Robert Thomas Jr, Nathan Thomas, Charles Thomas, Durward Fleming and Jeremy Shamburger.
Visitation will be at 10:00am to 11:00am Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Harvest Christian Center in Cantonment, Florida. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am. Officiating will be Pastor John Whitaker.

John Franklin “Johnny” Lord

Mr. John Franklin “Johnny” Lord, age 83, passed away, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in Atmore, AL. He was born in Uriah, AL; and later in life moved to Garfield, KY; before moving to Atmore, AL; the past 3 years. He worked in the oil field for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Kentucky) and Friendly Holiness Church.
Mr. Lord enjoyed spending time with his family and attending church at Friendly Holiness Church. Fishing was a favorite thing to do, along with singing and playing his guitar. Eating out with family and friends, being able to watch westerns and Gospel television was also favorites of his to do. Alabama football was always a special time of the year, he was member of the Masonic Lodge as well.
Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin (Hattie Mae Brooks) Lord; wife, Glenda Lord; one son, Rodney Lane Lord, one daughter, Tammy Annette Blackwell; three brothers, Robert Edward Lord; Thomas Eugene Lord; Roger Lord; and three sisters, Gloria Almeda Lord; Lillie Mae Harris, and Ella Mae Boyette.
He is survived by his two sons, John Daniel Lord, of Birmingham, AL; Vince Edward Lord, of Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Lorie (James) Mims, of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Mason Lord, of Pineville, KY; three sisters, Irene Lord, of Atmore, AL; Mary Elizabeth Harris, of Milton, FL; Glenda Diane Kennington-Arrington, of Milton, FL; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Ray Ward and Rev. Greg Harris officiating.
Burial will follow at Semirah Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes.
