Courtney Taylor (Lee) Lassitter

Courtney Taylor (Lee) Lassitter, 34, of Pensacola, Florida, went to be with the Lord on January 11th, 2024. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Courtney – a soul whose presence left a mark on those fortunate enough to have known her. She is welcomed into eternal peace by her grandmothers, Linda Farrior and Wanda Lee, and her grandfather, Kenneth Tyson.
Courtney’s passion for creating lasting connections extended beyond friendships, captured through her lens in every photograph she took. Her greatest masterpieces, however, were her two beloved sons, Joshua and Hudson Lassitter, whom she cherished with unwavering love.
Courtney is survived by her two sons; her father, Michael D. Lee Sr.; her mother, Cheryl McClurg; her brother, David Lee; her sister, Catriona Lochhead; her grandfather, Bob Lee; and her grandmother, Margaret Jackson.
Through everything, Courtney never stopped smiling. She was a beacon of warmth, loyalty, and vibrancy. She illuminated any room she entered, and to know Courtney was to know a friend.
Viewing services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 5-6 PM for family and from 6-8 PM for all those who wish to pay their respects. The funeral ceremony will take place at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM, followed by the burial at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Roy Clinton Hattaway, Jr, age 76, passed away, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in Atmore, AL. He was born March 6, 1947, in Meridian, MS. He was a Vietnam Veteran that proudly served in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Clinton (Donie Crenshaw) Hattaway, Sr.
He is survived by his sister, Cathy (Jack) Dessommes’, of Ocean Springs, MS.

Floyd Wilson, Jr.

Mr. Floyd Wilson, Jr,, age 72, of Atmore, Alabama passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a was born, February 24, 1951, in Leesville, Louisiana before moving to Atmore, AL. He retired with the State of Alabama Highway Department with many years of service.
Mr. Wilson was an avid Alabama Football Fan, who also enjoyed watching Nascar racing and westerns. He enjoyed listening to country music and bluegrass. He had many places he loved to travel such as the mountains, traveling to Texas and many other destinations.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd (Gussie Sanders) Wilson, Sr; and one brother, Charles Wilson.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Beth Wilson, of Atmore, AL; one sister, Esther Marie (Duane) Dortch, of Flomaton, AL; other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Chaplin Rickey Tedder officiating.

Barry E. Van Hoosen

Mr. Barry E. Van Hoosen, age 64, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at a Century, FL healthcare facility.
Mr. Van Hoosen was born in Century, FL and had lived most of his life in the Brewton area. He had lived in Mobile for a time before returning to Brewton. He was a member of the T.R. Miller High School Class of 1977 and later received an associate degree from Bishop State Community College. After working for the railroad for a few years, he became a Funeral Director. He was co-owner of Craver’s and Flomaton Funeral Homes. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Barry was preceded in death by his father, James Eugene Van Hoosen; his stepfather, Lavon Kelly; and a brother, Keith Van Hoosen.
He is survived by his mother, Shelby Kelly of Brewton; three daughters, Erin (Carl) Lambeth of Brewton, Lauren Yoder of Brewton, and Jessica (Jeremy) Fant of Grand Bay; a brother, Larry Van Hoosen of Brewton; half-brother, James E. Van Hoosen, Jr. of Mobile; half-sister, Felicia Dyess of Jacksonville, FL; stepsisters, Belinda Hintze of Chesapeake, VA, Brenda Kelly of Flomaton, Beverly Cheniae of Virginia Beach, VA, and Elizabeth Spracklen of Fort Worth, TX; six grandchildren, Austin Lambeth, Tucker Lambeth, Addison Yoder, Kennedy Yoder, Ayden Tipton, and Kyler Tipton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Dr. Gene Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Pollard Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the 3:00 p.m. service time.

Larry Eugene Godwin, age 72, of Atmore, AL passed away on January 10, 2024. He was born on May 24, 1951 in Atmore, AL to the late Ernest Eugene “Gene” and Myrlene Stewart Godwin. Larry was the owner/operator of Escambia Auto Parts and Detailing. He also served in the Army National Guard. He is preceded in death by his parents; his,brother, Garry Godwin and Shelly Godwin.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Becky Wooten Godwin; his daughters, Wendy Godwin Classen of Atmore, AL, and Kayla Godwin of Atmore, AL; Krista Howell of Atmore, AL; his sister, Deborah (David) Ronzone Sr. of Bratt, FL; his grandchildren: Blaine O’Brien (Brandee Barrow), Loryn O’Brien, Elliot Classen and Ann-Elise Classen along with his great grandchildren: John-Marshall O’Brien, Lilly Kate O’Brien, Rowan O’Brien and Kylee Clifford.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL.

Mrs. , age 75, of McDavid, FL; passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024, surrounded by her family at her bedside. She was a native of McDavid, and lived in Clearwater, FL; in her teenage years and always loved to eat mangos there.
Mrs. Comalander was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, that enjoyed spending time with family, and friends. She really loved fishing, dancing and got enjoyment out of sitting on her front porch drinking a good cup of coffee. She loved to cook for family and friends, especially biscuits. She always enjoyed traveling to Texas with her husband and children while he worked. Her favorite place to go eat was “Chinese Food”
Preceded in death by her parents, Walter (Myrtle Sanders) Jernigan, two brothers, Carmel Coleman, James Jernigan, three sisters, Patricia Jernigan, Mary Francis Jernigan, Lois Livingston, one grandson, Rodie Comalander, three great grandchildren, Dloni Casey, Liam Comalander, Tyler Addison, Jr; and one son in law, Larry McLain.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, James Edward Comalander, of McDavid, FL; one son, Dennis Edward Comalander, of McDavid, FL; three daughters, Tina Comalander (Buddy) Randall, of Century, FL; Connie Comalander ‘Mbeng, of Pensacola, FL; Melissa Comalander McLain, of Robertsdale, AL; one sister, Joyce Jernigan Fowler, of Texas, fifteen grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Mr. Mack Henry Myrick, age 84, passed away peacefully, on Monday, January 8, 2024, in Little Rock, AL; surrounded by his loving family at his bedside. He was a native of Little Rock, AL; and a member of Corinth Primitive Baptist Church. He retired from the Escambia County Alabama Road Department with many years of service.
Mr. Myrick loved the outdoors and vacationing with his wife. He enjoyed wood working and tinkering, on most everything. He enjoyed sitting down watching antique car shows and a good western. He served as a deacon in the church and loved his church family.
He is preceded by his parents, Willie Harvey (Cumi Lynch) Myrick, two brothers, Billy Myrick, Aaron Myrick, two sisters, Margaret Smith, Flora Lou Black, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Myrick, of Little Rock, AL; one son, Michael (Brandy) Myrick, of Little Rock, AL; two daughters, Carolyn (Paul) Pearson, of Poarch, AL; Ellen (Earl) Crook, of Brewton, AL; four grandchildren, Nathan Lambeth, Phillip (Sabrina) Myrick, Bryant (Autumn) Crook, Morgan (Zach) Myrick, one step grandson, Justin Pearson, one great-grandchild, Colter Myrick, special family member, Michelle Lucas, other relatives and friends

Gerald ‘Jerry’ McAnally

Gerald “Jerry” McAnally was born January 24, 1966, in Atmore, Alabama. His faith became sight when he was called to his Heavenly home on January 8, 2024, at the age of 58, following a fearless and courageous battle with cancer.
“Coach Mac” graduated from Auburn University Montgomery and taught at Repton Middle School and Brewton City Schools, before furthering his education at The University of West Alabama. After receiving his Specialist Degree, he moved into administrative roles as assistant principal at Excel High School and principal at Thomasville Middle School. While he enjoyed teaching history and leading teachers in his administrative roles, coaching was his passion. He coached football, track, basketball, and tennis.
“Coach Mac” didn’t just coach sports, he coached lives. He was always ready with a kind, encouraging, or motivating word. He helped many understand that there is a difference between winning and winning graciously. He always saw the best in everyone.
Regardless of his numerous accomplishments in education and coaching, the titles that he carried with the most pride were “Dad” and “Papa”. He always put his family first and he was most happy when all of his family was together. He instilled in his family a love for each other, a love for Auburn Football, and an unwavering faith in the Lord.
Gerald was proceeded in death by his mother, Estelle White McAnally; his father Edward McAnally and stepmother Marie McAnally; grandparents Jake and Tishie White and Ernest and Ellafara McAnally, special sister-in-law Ramona McCall, brother-in-law Mark Lukkar, and 2 grandchildren who were born into Heaven.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 21 years, Sharon McAnally; his three sons – Caleb (Kinsey) McAnally of Canton, GA; Christopher (Ashley) Johnson of Wetumpka, AL; Michael McAnally of Dawsonville, GA; granddaughter – Rosalie Johnson; grandson Elijah Johnson; his two brothers – Douglas (Tiffany) McAnally of Huntsville, AL; and Timothy (Marcy) McAnally of Atmore, AL; brother-in-law Steve McCall of Pace, FL; sister-in-law Marian (Roger) Kays of Molino, FL; father-in-law George (Linda) Marlow of Molino, FL; Aunt Pauline McAnally of Bay Minette, AL; Aunt Pauline Callahan of Molino, FL; Aunt Carol (Tom) Truesdale of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues, students, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Priscilla Nelson Snow

Priscilla Nelson Snow, age 81, of Atmore, AL passed away on January 4, 2024. She was born on September 20, 1942 in Pensacola, FL to Maurice and Helen Coon Nelson. She was a cosmetologist until she retired. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Katherine Ard and Ronald Nelson.
She is survived by her husband, John Snow, Jr.; her sons, Bruce Alan Barton of Pensacola, FL and Kelly Andrew Barton of Molino, FL; her stepson, John L. (Amy) Snow, III; her brothers, Paul (Theresa) Nelson of Jay, FL and Maurice (Patricia) Nelson, Jr. of Jay, FL; her sisters, Lynda Duke of Knoxville, TN and Marilynn (John) Ghiatis of Walnut Hill, FL; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12 Noon at Divine Grace Church with Pastor Keith Lisenby officiating. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery at NAS, Pensacola, FL.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12 Noon at Divine Grace Church, 5191 Highway 21, Atmore, AL 36502.

Betty Lou Chance Anderson

Betty Lou Chance Anderson, age 88, was called home on Sunday, January 7th, 2024. Betty was born on May 9th, 1935, in Albertville, Alabama to John and Bernice Phipps.
Betty is reunited with her parents; sisters, Vivian Johnson and Bernice “Bonnie” Shaffer; husband, Robert Thomas Anderson; sons, Johnny Ray Chance, James Calvin Chance; son-in-law, Larry Ronald Davis; and her grandchildren, Jesseca Miller Williams and Anthony Wayne “Little Tony” Mandel Jr.
Betty is survived by her children and grandchildren, Sandra Davis, Ray Chance (Sherri), and Susan Mandel (Tony). She was known to her grandchildren as “Grandma”; Sommer (Dan), Dustin, Randy, Coty (Amber), Tiffany (Phillip), John Houston (Amanda), Crystal (Doyle), and Desere (Kevin). She was so very proud of her great-grandchildren and of being a great-great-grandma.
Betty moved to Pensacola in high school where she graduated from J. M. Tate High in 1955. She married Alton Raymond Chance and built a farm in Barrineau Park, which was awarded Florida Farmer of the Year. She was a devoted “Mama” to her five children. She also nurtured and provided for the needs of so many in the community. Betty was quite the seamstress. She knitted, crocheted, and hand-embroidered homemade gifts that we adore. She passed her skills on to so many. She was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, cheer sponsor, and a leader of many things with her children. Mama prided herself in making sure her children experienced and achieved any activity they dreamed of participating in. Most importantly Betty always saw the best in every person she met.
Betty joined family’s with R.T. Anderson and gained children and grandchildren she loved and cherished as her own. They resided in Freeport, Florida for twenty-two years.
Betty loved attending Victory Assembly of God, would speak of it often, and was delighted when her family would join her. Betty will be remembered by many as having a station wagon full of kids, being able to whistle above a crowd cheering for her family, and being blessed with a personality that could light up a room. If we pause for a moment to remember all she has provided for her family and community, we could be still for hours.
We would like to make a special thank you from the family to Vitas Healthcare. All of their help throughout the last year made it possible for her to be home with her daughter Sandra, until her peaceful passing.
Her celebration of Life will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Saturday, January 13th, 2024, officiated by Jeff McKee. Family visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until services begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Lathram Chapel UMC Cemetery (2690 Jacks Branch Rd. Cantonment, FL 32533).
Pallbearers will include her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
