Jonathan David Cotton

Our beloved son, husband, father, nephew and cousin, Jonathan David Cotton was unexpectedly called home on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Jonathan was born in Atmore, AL, to John David Cotton Jr. and Kathryn Gail Cotton on March 24, 1985. He worked for Williamson Electrical and loved his job and work family. In his spare time, he loved riding four wheelers, working on projects with his dad and watching his girls play sports.

Jonathan is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Hazel Crutchfield, John and Joyce Cotton, Step-Daughter, Daizee Angus, Aunt and Uncle, Diane and Lamar Smith.

He is survived by his wife Karmen Cotton of Flomaton, AL; daughter Kayley Marie Cotton of Flomaton, AL; stepdaughter, Zoey Angus of Flomaton, AL; his parents, John and Gail Cotton of Flomaton, AL; aunts Jennifer (Walt) Woodfin, Julie (Chad) Miller and Faye Bradley Coover; cousins, Steve Bradley, Cindy Baggett, Chris Smith, Allison Woodfin, Stewart Woodfin, Raeleigh Woodfin, Ansley Claire Miller and John Edward Miller.

Visitation was held at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, AL, on Thursday, February 11. A celebration of life was held Friday, February 12 at at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home with Brother Ted Bridges officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Steve Foley, Jeremy Wise, Stephen Manning, Chris Smith, John Edward Miller and Stewart Woodfin.

The family greatly appreciates the overwhelming support and generosity they have received from so many in the community over the past few days and ask for your continued prayers. Due to Covid-19, the family asks that you practice social distancing and face masks are recommended.

Jillian Michelle Caraway

February 17, 2021

Jillian Michelle Caraway, age 38, passed away on February 9, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1982 in Brewton, AL to the Eugene and Kim Weaver Caraway.

She is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Caraway.

She is survived by her mother, Kim (Billy) Walker of McCullough, AL; her children, James Morris of McCullough, AL, Mia Morris, Brandy Morris and Colton Morris all from Bay Minette, AL; her brother, Justin (Magen) Caraway of McCullough, AL, her sister, Kimberly (James) Dyal of Bay Minette, AL, her grandfather, James Caraway and her niece, Hadley Caraway.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James Morris Special Fund at First National Bank and Trust of Atmore, AL.

Robert Ernest Ford

Robert Ernest Ford was born August 3, 1954, to Howard Ford and Deloris Roberts in Joplin, Missouri. He passed February 8, 2021, in Cantonment, Florida.

He was a retired Senior Chief in the United States Navy and served for more than 22 years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Brenda ford; children, James (Tiffany) Ford, Timothy Ford, and Teresa Ford; and nine grandchildren.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North has been entrusted with arrangements.

Carlton Phillip Cook

February 15, 2021

Carlton Phillip Cook passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 78 after a short illness. Carlton was born in Jay, Florida on January 23, 1943. He married the love of his life, Marion Cook, on January 30, 1965. He was a lineman at Bellsouth and retired after 28 years. Throughout his life he showed great strength by working hard, building his own home, and taking care of his family. Carlton loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting with his family. He loved his two dogs, Scooter and Buster. Carlton will surely be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marion Cook; his mother, Doris Boutwell; one sister, Mary (Wayne) Hays; three children, Cynthia Avirett, Daniel Cook, and Christine Haynes; eight grandchildren, Matt and Brian Avirett, Amanda Canfield, Tyler Oquain, Justin and Darren Barlow, Ashlyn and Julianna Tidwell; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carlton is preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Mason.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Mashburn officiating. Pallbearers are Matt and Brian Avirett, Tyler Oquain, Justin and Darren Barlow, and James Avirett.

Lillian L. Jones

Lillian L. Jones, a 58 year resident of Molino, Florida, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born in Paxton, Florida to the late Carlton Alcus Mitchell and Lena Mae Nobles Mitchell on March 1, 1932. Lillian was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Molino Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and flower gardening.

Lillian is survived by son, Donald W. (Kimberly A.) Jones; daughter, Deborah A. (Vernon L.) Prather; grandchildren, Christina O’Steen, Kenneth W. Jones, A. Ryan Prather, and Nicholas L. Prather; great grandchildren, Nathan O’Steen, Jacob O’Steen, Kristen Jones, Keaton Prather, and Parker Prather.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Brian Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 11AM prior to services.

Raymond Wilbert Boutwell

Mr. Raymond Wilbert Boutwell, age 72, of Atmore, AL passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Mobile Infirmary.

Mr. Boutwell was a long time resident of the Atmore community where he worked for 25 years as a correctional officer for the State of Alabama. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, working on cars, weightlifting, planting a garden and anything involving a yard sale. He attended Atmore Baptist Temple and was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Louise Conway Boutwell and his sister, Willonise Boutwell.

Mr. Boutwell is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Boutwell of Atmore, AL; sons, Shannon Boutwell of Atmore, AL and Desmond (Ashley) Boutwell of Loxley, AL; sister, Eloise Boutwell of Big springs, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 10 AM until 11 AM.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 11 AM with Pastor William Odom officiating.

Interment will be in Traveler’s Rest Cemetery in Flomaton, AL.

Gerald Winfred Woolard

CDR Gerald Winfred Woolard, USN (ret.), age 86, a long-term resident of Pensacola, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 5 th , 2021.

For over 20 years he served his country faithfully as a Naval Aviator and Flight Instructor spending countless hours in an A-4 fighter jet. Following his retirement from the Navy, he served his community as a county commissioner and then as a schoolteacher. Gerald was an active member of First United Methodist Church participating in many programs. His hobbies include woodworking, stained glass, and traveling all over North America with his wife, Anne.

He is survived by Anne, his spouse of 64 years, his three children: Craig Woolard (Kathy), Karen Kennedy (Fred), Christy Hart (Daniel), six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Misha.

He touched the hearts of everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
Graveside Services will be held February 16, 2021,  at Barrancas National Cemetery. For those wishing to attend should arrive at Faith Chapel South by 1:30 p.m. for the procession. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to First United Methodist Church “Serving the Hungry Program” or a charity of your choice.

Shannon Ellis Edward

Mr. Shannon Ellis Edwards, age 53 of Watermill Road in Jay, Fl, passed away Sunday afternoon February 7, 2021 at his Jay Residence.  Mr. Edwards was a native of Ozark, Alabama and former resident of Holt, Florida before moving to Jay 6 years ago.  He was a Department manager with Wal-Mart in Pace and attended Century Church of Christ.  Mr. Edwards loved fishing, hunting, riding his golf cart and collecting guns.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Heather Dean Edwards of Jay, FL; father, Marvin (Molly) Edwards of Pace, FL; mother, Marjorie Edwards of Pensacola, FL; sons, Mathew Edwards of Pensacola, Christopher (Hallie) Edwards of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Tabitha (Patrick) Young of Pace, FL; sisters, Jessica Edwards of Buda, Texas; Morgyn (Christopher) Goff of London, England; step-brother, Matthew (Amanda) Weber of Pace, FL; step-sisters, Brandy (Joel) Wise of Pace, FL, Tracy (Ryan) Fowler of Pace; two grandsons, Nikolas Young, Jacob Young, two granddaughters, Madison McGowan and Gracie Edwards.

Visitation will be held Thursday February 11, 2021 from 12 Noon until 1:00 P.M. service time at the Century Church Of Christ in Century, Florida.

Funeral services for Mr. Shannon Ellis Edwards will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday February 11, 2021 at the Century Church Of Christ with Minister Jessie Claunch officiating.  Interment will follow in Jay Cemetery.

David (D.C.) Roach

February 9, 2021

David (D.C.) Roach, 82 of Davisville, Florida, passed away suddenly on February 6, 2021 at Atmore Community Hospital. He was born June 23, 1938 in McDavid, Florida.

Mr. Roach had resided in Bratt, Florida for most of his life. He was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School, Walnut Hill, FL and was a retired employee of Monsanto. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bratt, FL. He loved the Lord and his church family. He also was an avid hunter and reader. He was a Mason with Century Lodge #213. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Lee and Joseph Sands and brother, Joe (Buddy) Sands.

Mr. Roach is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy Murph Roach; sister, Marsha (Mervin) Gibson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 10:30 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Redditt officiating.

Burial will follow at the Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 9:30 AM until service time at 10:30 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Gibson, Eddie Roach, Matthew Barnett, Michael Ward, Michael Ward and Mike Ward.
