Escambia Woman Charged With Hit And Run Involving State Trooper

An Escambia County woman ha been charged with a hit and run accident involving a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle.

On September 5, a FHP Trooper H. Martinez was blocking Fairfield Drive due to a downed power line when his marked patrol vehicle was struck by a driver that fled the scene.

Christine B. Stallworth, 26, was later identified as the driver of the vehicle after an investigation.

Sunday, troopers attempted to serve a warrant at Stallworth’s home. She climbed into the attic and then entered the apartment next door where she was taken into custody.

She was booked into the Escambia County Jail without bond on charges of felony hit and run, driving with a suspended license as a habitual offender and reckless driving.. She was also charged with felony burglary of an occupied dwelling and misdemeanor resisting arresting arrest without violence.

Northview Football Names Teachers Of The Week

The Northview Chiefs are naming  Teachers of the Week during football season and honoring them for their hard work and dedication to inspire football team members in an academic setting.

This week’s Teacher of the Week is Tim Huber (pictured above). Last week, the Chiefs named Danny Steele (pictured below) as Teacher of the Week.

Each teacher is invited to a pregame meal, asked to speak to the team before the game and invited to stand on the sideline with the team during the game.

Three Injured In Highway 29 Crash

September 9, 2018

Three people were injured in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 29 in McDavid.

The wreck happened at Highway 29 and Roach Road.

All three of the injured were transported to the hospital by Escambia County EMS; their injuries were not life threatening.

The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

First Responders Host Kids Picnic

September 9, 2018

A First Responders & Kids Picnic was held Saturday at Ashton Brosnaham Park. The free event was in honor of the upcoming 17th anniversary of September 11.

The day  featured free food, a suspect pursuit obstacle course, face painting, demonstrations from SWAT and K-9 teams, radar detector fast pitch, mounted posse, “Color with a Cop”, static displays and more.

The event included first responders from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Escambia County EMS, Escambia County Fire Rescue, Pensacola Police Department, Escambia Search and Rescue and others.

Good Times: Barrineau Park Friends Gathering

The fourth annual Gathering of Friends was held Saturday at the Barrineau Park Community Center.

Thee event featured live music, arts and crafts, bouncy houses, face painting, good food and much more.

The day’s events were sponsored by the Barrineau Park Historical Society.

Equine Field Day Held In Molino

The Escambia County Equine Field Day Saturday in Molino was  a hands-on learning opportunity for horse owners and enthusiasts from across the area.

Participants learned about a variety of topics, including equine vaccinations, hoof and leg care, nutrition, pasture weed control, exercise physiology, and other relevant topics related to the Florida equine industry.

The events was held at the Escambia County 4-H Livestock Facility on south Highway 99 in Molino.

Blood Drives Held Saturday In Molino, Century; More Giving Opportunities Set

Blood drives were held Saturday at the libraries in Molino and Century, and there several additional opportunities to give this month in the North Escambia area.

Blood drives will also be held at:

  • Century Correctional Institute Monday, September 10 from noon until 5 p.m.
  • University of West Florida Tuesday, September 17 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Tate High School on Wednesday, September 18 from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
  • Northview High School on Wednesday, September 19 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

OneBlood welcomes blood donations from donors 16 years old and older. 16 year-old donors, however, must present a signed permission form from their parent or a guardian before the donation.
