Ernest Ward Middle Defeats Gulf Shores 14-12

The Ernest Ward Middle School Eagles defeated Gulf Shores Middle School 14-12 Thursday night in Walnut Hill.
The Eagles will round out their season with two games against Flomaton. Ernest Ward will play at Flomaton at 6 p.m. Monday, while Flomaton will be at Ernest Ward on October 23.

Local Football Playoff Point Standings Released
October 11, 2017
The Florida High School Athletic Association has released current projected football playoff point standings for local schools.
Bottom Line for North Escambia Schools: Tate is second in District 1-Class 6A. The Northview Chiefs are currently next to last in Region 1-Class 1A (not in a playoff spot).

For Classes 1A-4A, no region or district play is required, with each school controlling its own schedule. Four teams from each region (16 total statewide) will make the playoffs based on the new points system.
District play for Class 5A-8A remains, with 32 teams qualifying for the playoffs in each class. District champions will receive an automatic bid to the playoff and will receive a 1-4 seed based on the new points system. Four wild cards will be taken from each region based on points following the conclusion of Week 11.

Volleyball: Northview Chiefs Fall To The Milton Panthers
October 10, 2017
The Milton Panthers defeated the Northview Chiefs in three sets Monday in Bratt — 25-9, 25-12, 25-14.
Teriana Redmond led the Chiefs with three kills, eight blocks and 17 digs. Olivia Porter (pictured above) recorded nine serving aces.
The junior varsity Chiefs lost to Milton 29-27, 25-14.
Up next, the Chiefs travel to Flomaton on Tuesday. The JV plays at 5:00, followed by the varsity at 6 p.m.

Jay Royals Beat The Northview Chiefs (With Gallery)

The Jay Royals beat the Northview Chiefs for the first time in a decade Friday night. The Royals topped the Chiefs 48-18 in Jay.
“Early turnovers hurts us,” Northview Coach Dereck Marshman said. “Big plays and missed tackles work hand in hand….we felt pretty good about our preparation on tackling coming in, but it failed us. And then we’ve got to learn to finish drives. We moved the ball between the 30 and 30 pretty good, but once we got into the red zone, it just stopped. The better team tonight won.”

The Chiefs were the first on the scoreboard on a hand-off from quarterback Seth Killam to sophomore Aunterio Minor from eight yards out. With a missed point after attempt, the Chiefs were up 6-0 with 9:35 to go in the first quarter.
The Royals responded with six points of their own in the first quarter before exploding in the second quarter with 24 more points. The Chiefs were held to just six more points on a Trent Peebles touchdown dive with 1:17 to go in the second quarter.
At the half, the Royals were up 30-12.
The Royals added another TD in the third and two touchdowns in the fourth. The Chiefs’ only score of the second half came as Tim Bush score a touchdown with 3:43 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Jay Royals improved to 2-5 with the win. Northview’s season record fell to 1-6.
The Royals will face J.U. Blacksher of Uriah, AL, next Friday night. The Chiefs will celebrate homecoming as they host Pensacola Catholic in Bratt.
“We will reevaluate everything from the top down — coach, players — everything will be reevaluated,” Marshman said of the preparation for Catholic. Despite of a 1-7 record, Catholic will be one of the top teams Northview plays this season, he said. “It’s going to be a great challenge for us. They have great program with a lot of tradition.”

Volleyball: Royals Defeat Chiefs

The Jay Royals defeated the Northview Chiefs 3-2 Thursday night in Bratt.
Northview won the first set 25-13 before Jay powered ahead to take the second set 25-14. Northview came out on top of the third set, 25-16. Jay won the final two sets by the scores of 25-15 and 15-12.
Teriana Redmond led the Chiefs with 17 digs, 8 blocks and 3 kills. Olivia Porter had 9 aces for the Lady Chiefs.
In junior varsity action, Jay beat Northview 25-14, 25-17.
Northview is scheduled to host Milton on Monday.
