Chiefs Fall To Walton County, 36-13
September 20, 2008
A young Northview High School team lost 36-13 to Walton High Friday night in Bratt.
Walton blocked two different punts, and they returned both for touchdowns.
A 37-yard pass with 9:56 in the first quarter put the Braves on the board first. A good kick, and Walton led 7-0.
Walton scored another TD with an almost 70 yard run, and they had a good kick with 11:03 in the first to increase their lead to 14-0. With 4:14 in the quarter, Walton scored again to move ahead 23-0.
The Chiefs got their first points on the board with 2:24 to go in the half. A 37 yard pass and a one yard run by Jay Jackson made the score 23-7 going into the half.
Walton picked up another seven with 7:05 on the clock in the third to make the score 30-7. They added another half dozen with 5:21 to go in the ballgame, 36-7 Walton.
Chief Montayo Mitchell intercepted a Walton pass and had scored a touchdown on a 27 yard run with 4:03 in the ballgame for a final score of 36-13.
“All we can do is put this behind us and look forward to next week,” Northview Head Coach Cody Keene told the team after the game. “We are not going to point any fingers at anyone on this one. If we are going to point any fingers, we are going to point them at me.”
“We just made a lot of mistakes in the kicking game, and we just didn’t play very well,” he said. “We tackled real poorly.”
“They’ve got a good football team,” Keene said about Walton after the game. “We are real young, and we are going to keep working and try to improve this week and get ready for a district game.”
Northview’s first district game is next Friday night on the road at Holmes County.

West Florida Over Northview JV
September 19, 2008
West Florida High downed the Northview High School JV team Thursday evening 36-0 in Pensacola.
The Jaguars put 20 points on the board in the first quarter. The Chiefs held them scoreless until the fourth.
The JV Chiefs have an open week next week.

Volleyball: Walton Over Northview
September 19, 2008
The Walton High Raiders were victorious over Nothview’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams in district play Thursday.
The Northview varsity girls lost to Walton 12-25, 15-25, 9-25.
Ashley Digmon had seven digs for the Chiefs. Brittney Thompson had three block and four kills. Angela Rodriguez, a junior, had a couple of blocks, two kills and two aces. And Caitlin Hall, also a junior, had four blocks and eight assists.
The JV girls also lost to Walton on the road, 9-25, 13-25.
Shaniqua Jones, a sophomore, had one kill and four digs on the night. Freshman Raylin Spence had two digs, and freshman Kayla Miles had seven aces.
The varsity Northview volleyball team will be on the road Saturday in the Spanish Fort Tournament in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Both the varisty and JV will be in action on the road next Thursday against South Walton.
Northview Downs Neal In V-ball

The Northview Chiefs downed W.S. Neal High School in varsity and junior varsity volleyball action Tuesday afternoon.
The varsity Lady Chiefs downed the Lady Eagles 26-24, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19.
Sophomore Ashley Digmon had four digs. Shawna Montgomery had three digs, three blocks, three kills and 11 aces.
Senior Britney Thompson had two blocks, six kills, two digs and 10 aces for Northview. Angela Rodriguez and a single dig and five kills. Catilin Hall, a junior, and a block and 19 assists.
The JV Chiefs beat W.S. Neal 25-17, 25-27, 15-11.
Shaniqua Jones had four kills and four aces. Freshman Raylin Spence and two kills and three aces. Miranda Burkett and one ace and three digs.
Tori Searcy and six aces for the Chiefs, and Kayla Mills had five aces.
Both the JV and Varsity will be on the road Thursday against Walton in district play. The JV plays at 4:30 and the varsity plays at 6:00.

Football: T.R. Miller Downs Ernest Ward Middle

The Ernest Ward Middle School football team lost 36-6 to T.R. Miller Tuesday night in Brewton.
Middle school games are usually played on Thursday nights, but the EWMS game against Miller was moved to Tuesday night because Ernest Ward has an Open House scheduled for Thursday evening.
Flomaton JV With Another Win Over The J. U. Blacksher Bulldogs

The JV Canes traveled to Uriah Tuesday evening to take on the J U Blacksher Bulldogs. The Canes record improved to 3-0 after a 28-6 win. The Canes were the first to score early on in the first quarter of play. At halftime the Canes were up 22-0. The Bulldogs would put six on the board in the second half for a final score of 28-6.
The game originally scheduled for next week against Baker will not be played. The next game on the schedule for the JV Canes is September 30 at Jay.

Northview Downs Chipley 20-7; Photo Gallery

The Northview Chiefs downed Chipley 20-7 Friday night on the road.
The Tigers were first on the board with 6:20 in the first quarter. Jacques Givens hit the end zone from one yard out. The kick was good, 7-0, Chipley.
The Chiefs made a 77 yard drive in the second quarter to even the score. Quarterback Jay Jackson finished the nine-play drive with 13-yard TD run. The kick was good.
The Chiefs and the Tigers were tied 7-7 at the half. The Tigers were unable to score again the the second half, but Northview put another 13 on the board in the second.
Jackson picked up another touchdown run, this one at 13-yards, early in the fourth quarter to end a 14-play drive for the Chiefs.
Junior Shakel Holmes picked up a huge interception in the fourth quarter, putting Northview on the Chipley 32. After two more plays, Jackson was in the endzone for the third time with 9:02 to go in the game.
QB Jackson, a senior, had 26 carries on the night for 122 yards. He had three touchdowns against the Tigers, racking up 208 of the Chief’s 372 offensive yards.
For the Chief defense, sophomore Cole Gandy had 10 tackles.
Northview Head Coach Cody Keene said victory over the Chipley Tigers was one of the biggest wins of his career. Northview had never beaten Chipley since Keene has been the Chief’s head coach.
The Chiefs (1-1) will be at home next Friday night against Walton County. Northview’s first district game will be the following week on the road against Holmes County.

Flomaton Hurricanes Beat Southern Choctaw, 50-27

The Flomaton Hurricanes came from behind Friday night to take a huge victory against Southern Choctaw.
The Canes (3-0) were trailing 13-8 with about six minutes to go in the half. The Hurricanes then took over and stormed ahead with three touchdowns in the last five minutes of the first half. The score was 28-13 at the half.
Southern Choctaw picked up the last TD on the night with just less than 12 seconds on the clock. The Southern Choctaw Indians made the two point conversion, making the final 50-27.
Flomaton had 262 yards on the night; the Indians had 240 yards.
Tony Ellis had five touchdowns for the Canes against Southern Choctaw.
Flomaton is now 2-0 in regional play. The Hurricanes will travel to Leroy next Friday night to take on the Leroy Bears.

After a halftime 7-0 lead, Veron picked up 21 points in the second half to down the Jay Royals Friday night. Jay fumbled six times on the night and had three plays intercepted.
