Flomaton Beats Excel 25-14

The Flomaton Hurricanes improved to 6-1 after a big region game against the Excel Panthers.
The Canes beat Excel 28-14 Friday night in Flomaton.
Tony Ellis rushed for 234 yards on 29 carries. Dominique Robinson picked up a touch down on a one yard run and an 11 yard pass to Tata Ellis for a 14-0 Flomaton lead at the end of the first quarter.
Excel scored on a 5-yard run with 11:52 in the second quarter.
The Canes will host Millry in game number eight of the season next Friday. This game will be the third game of four in a row region games.

Heartbreaker: Jay Royals Suffer Homecoming Loss, West Gadsden Scores At :06 To Go

Homecoming was spoiled for Jay Friday night when West Gadsden traveled to north Santa Rosa County and scored a field goal with just six seconds to go on the clock.
West Gadsden downed the Jay Royals 17-14.
Jay dominated the first half of the game, taking a 14-0 lead. The Royals scored their first TD with 11:11 to go in the first quarter following a Dale Barlow kickoff return and a three yard dash from Rush Hendricks. Stephan Brabham ended an 83 yard drive with one yard touchdown run. A good two point conversion, and Jay was up 14-0.
It looked like Jay was on a roll, recovering an onside kick and completing a drive down to the one yard line. But the West Gadsden defense kicked in, stopping the score just short from a fourth and goal position.
It was all Gadsden in the second half.
Jay will be on the road next Friday night against Freeport.
NHS JV Falls To WFHS, 18-6

The JV Northview Chiefs lost to West Florida High School Thursday night, 18-8 in Bratt.
The Jaguars jumped out to a an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter. By the third, they had increased that lead to 18-0.
The Chiefs came back to put six on the board for the 18-6 final.
The JV Chiefs will end their season at home against Catholic High School next Thursday night.

NHS Chiefs Beat Walton

The Northview Chiefs varsity volleyball team beat Walton Thursday night, taking three of five.

Northview downed Walton 25-23, 26-24, 20-25, 18-25, 15-13.
Northview’s varsity volleyball team is now 10-9 on the season, 2-3 in district play.

The Flomaton JV Canes ended their season last night in Excel with a big win over the Panthers. The Canes 42-6 win ended a perfect season for the JV Canes.

Northview Varsity Volleyball

Northview beat Straughn in Tuesday varsity volleyball action, and the Chiefs lost one to the Flomaton Hurricanes.
Northview took two of three from Straughn, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.

Northview Takes On W.S. Neal On The Court; Varsity Plays In Tate Tourney

The Northview varsity volleyball team beat W.S. Neal Monday, while Neal downed the Chiefs in JV action.
Northview’s varsity beat Neal in the five game series on the road, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 22-25, 15-12.
Candice Greenwell, a junior, had five kills and two aces for the Chiefs. Senior Brittney Thompson had eight kills, nine aces and a single dig. Angela Rodriquez had five kills and couple of aces. Caitlin Hall, a junior, had 18 assists, one dig and a half dozen aces on the night. Northview’s Shawna Montgomery had seven kills and three aces.
Neal slipped past the Northview JV team, 23-25, 19-25.
Miranda Burkett, a sophomore, had a dig, three kills and three aces for Northview. Freshman Raylin Spence and four aces, one ace and one kill. Trestine Dean, a sophomore, had a dig and an ace, and Tori Searcy had one kill, one assist and one ace.
Tate Tournament
In tournament action over the weekend at Tate, Northview beat West Florida, but lost to Tate and Milton.
Tate downed Northview 25-21, 23-25, 12-15.
Northview beat West Florida 25-16, 25-20.
And Milton downed the Chiefs 18-25, 22-25.

NWE Takes On Bellview Saturday
October 5, 2008
The Northwest Escambia Mites downed Bellview Saturday afternoon in Penacola, 8-6.
At 4:43 into the first quarter, Bellview recovered an Eagle fumble close to the goal line. On their first play Chasen Freeman downed Bellview behind the line for a two point safety, 2-0 Eagles.
With 2:27 left in the first quarter, Luke Ward ran 28 yards for a touchdown, 8-0 Eagles.
2nd quarter 3:18, Bellview scored a touchdown on a long run, 8-6 Eagles.
Neither team scored in the second half, making the final 8-6 Eagles.
Saturday was not as good to the NWE Mini Mites, with Bellview winning 27-0.

Flomaton Beats Mobile Christian 46-16

The Flomaton Hurricanes improved to 5-1 Friday night with a big win over Mobile Christian.
The Canes’s big region win was 46-16 over Mobile Christian.
Next week the Canes face the Excel Panthers at home in another important regional game.

Bad Night For Ernest Ward Eagles

The Ernest Ward Golden Eagle lost to Monroe County Thursday night in Walnut Hill, 44-8.
The Eagles will be on the road next Thursday night against W.S. Neal.
