Tates Gets Dramatic OT Win Over Navarre

It was big shot from Kevin Brown with three seconds remaining that gave the Tate Aggies a 49-48 overtime win over the Navarre Raiders Saturday. The Aggies now have the top seed in the District 1-5A tournament coming up in a couple of weeks at Pine Forest.
The Aggies were up 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Navarre rallied on their home court to tie the contest 22-22 at the half. Tate took the lead at the end of the third, 12-7, but the Raiders tied it 44-44 at the end of regulation.
Walden led the Aggies with 15, and Brown added 14.

The Flomaton Hurricanes lost by a single point in overtime to W.S. Neal Friday, 47-46. Neal’s win came on a jumper with just one second on the clock in overtime. The ‘Canes were led by Dalvin Craft with 15.
Jay Football Star Hendricks To Play For USA Jaguars

Jay High School football star Rush Hendricks has committed to play football for the University of South Alabama Jaguars.
Due to an injury, Hendricks only played five games during his senior season, rushing for 750 yards as a running back for the Royals. On the defensive side, playing linebacker, he had 45 tackles, eight of them for losses.
Hendricks has participated in summer camps at Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Alabama — where he made the Sabian team for two years. He’s been named a 2009 Pensacola News Journal Super Senior, and played offense and defense on the Pensacola Sports Association All-Star team.
Football is not his only sport; Henricks has played catcher and first base in baseball, part of a district championship team each year of his high school career.
The 225 pound Hendricks is also a star in the classroom at Jay High, where he is currently ranked second in the senior class with a 4.0 GPA in an honors curriculum.
Rush Hendricks is the son of Rick and Nina Hendricks.
Hendricks will officially ink his letter of intent with USA Jaguars on February 3. The Jaguars concluded their inaugural season with a perfect 7-0 mark while outscoring the opposition 321-41. During the 2010 season, they will face 10 four-year schools, including seven home games at Ladd-Peebles stadium in Mobile.

Ball Registration Extended For NWE, Continuing For Molino, Century

Northwest Escambia has extended their ball registration one more week, and registration is continuing this weekend in Century and Molino.
Northwest Escambia
Registration for Northwest Escambia baseball and softball ends Saturday, January 30 for ages 3 to 18 for Wee ball to big league.
Registration fees are: 1st child, $35, 2nd child: $25, 3rd child: free. Children will be measured and a $20 uniform deposit collected at registration. A copy of each child’s birth certificate is required. There will also be a cleat swap…bring a pair of outgrown cleats and trade/swap while supplies last.
NWE registration will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at Bradberry Park in Walnut Hill. Tryouts for boys and girls ages 3-12 will be Saturday, February 6 beginning at 10 a.m.
Junior, Senior & Big League boys 13-18 deadline for registration will be March 20th.
Molino Recreation Association
The Molino Recreation Association will hold registration Saturday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Registration will continue through the last Saturday in February for Wee Ball, tee ball, baseball and softball.
The cost is $50 per child, except Wee Ball which is $45 for the first child, $40 each additional. Girl’s softball teams will form on the third and fourth Saturdays of February.
Century Little League
Registration will be held January 30 and February 6 and 13 for Century Little League.
The registration fee is $30 for the first child and $20 for each additional child. A copy of each child’s birth certificate is required.

Northview jumped out to an early lead 14-7 by the end of the first quarter. PCA rallied to closed Northview’s lead to 22-19 at the half, but it was all Chiefs in the last two quarters. Northview outscored PCA 14-2 and 10-6 in the last two periods.
