Escambia County Beats B.C. Rain 43-15

The Escambia County Blue Devils beat B.C. Rain Friday night in Atmore 43-15.
The Blue Devils (2-0, 1-0) were led by Chris Johnson and Rico Stallworth with two touchdowns each.
Johnson’s touchdowns were one and 31 yard runs. Stallworth’s TD’s were one and 26 yards. An interception by Torian Brown was ran back 75 yards for another touchdown , and Chris Smith had a one-yard touchdown dash.
The Blue Devils, under first year Head Coach Mark Heaton, will be on the road next Friday night against a tough UMS Wright team. UMS Wright is coming off a 47-0 defeat of W.S. Neal Friday night.
Flomaton Hurricanes Blow Past Southern Choctaw
September 4, 2010
Ryheem Dixon had a good Friday night for the Flomaton Hurricanes, as they blew past Southern Choctoaw 27-14.
Dixon had touchdown runs of 53 and two yards, and had a five yard pass to Austin Patterson for another touchdown.
The Hurricanes opened with an 11-play, 80-yard drive that ended with a 32-yard touchdown run from Neiko Robinson. On the ground, A.J. Odom had 116 yards for Canes on 21 carries.
Flomaton accumulated about 315 yards, about 265 of them on the ground in their Southern Choctaw defeat.
The Flomaton Hurricanes (2-0, 1-0) will be back at home next Friday night against J.U. Blacksher.

Ernest Ward Middle Eagles Soar Past Perdido Raiders

The Ernest Ward Middle School Eagles beat the Perdido Middle Raiders Thursday evening, 32-6.
The Eagles soared to a quick lead, 6-0, about two minutes into their season opener. With four minutes to go in the first quarter, the Eagles scored again. Then, in the second, Ernest Ward expanded their lead to 18-0.
Ernest Ward made it an all-Eagles first half, with a 32-0 lead at the buzzer. The Raiders managed to score just six in the second half, for the 32-6 final.
The Ernest Ward Middle School Eagles — the only middle school football team in Escambia County, Fla. — will be at home next Tuesday against Excel.

Tate Beats Washington, 30-20
September 3, 2010
The Tate Aggies beat Washington High Thursday night in the season opener for Florida schools, 30-20.
Sophomore Lorzeno Long put the Aggies on the Board from seven yards and added a two point conversion with just over two minutes to go in the first quarter. Tate’s lead expanded to 14-0 in the second with a 43-yard touchdown run. Less than another minute had expired on the clock before Washington answered with a touchdown, 14-6.
The Wildcats scored again to narrow the Aggies’ lead to 14-12 headed to the lockers at the half.
In the third, senior Josh Dees scored from the five and Ladarian Young, a junior, added a two point co version to expand Tate’s lead to 22-12. Then in fourth, both Tate and Washington scored back to back TD’s, including a 30-yard run from Long, his second touchdown of the night.
Coarch Ed Rigby’s Aggies spoiled the Washington coaching debut of Michael Smith.
Tate will travel to Pensacola High Friday night, September 10 at 7:30.
NHS, Jay Split Volleyball Matches

The JV Flomaton Hurricanes picked up a big 30-0 win Tuesday evening in their season opener against J.U. Blacksher of Uriah. The JV Hurricanes will be on the road at Baker at 6 p.m. on September 7.

Lady Chiefs Split Volleyball Matches With Catholic

The Northview Lady Chiefs Ninth grade team beat Catholic Monday afternoon on the volleyball court, while the JV and Varsity teams lost.
In the first game of the ninth grade match, Northview won by two points, 25-23. The Lady Chiefs took a big 11-point win the second game, 25-14. Mallory Wiggins had one kill, four aces and a block for the Chiefs (1-0). Paeton Hadley had one assist and a half dozen aces, and Ali Martin had four aces.
The Varsity Lady Chiefs lost three games to the Crusaders, 25-10, 25-14, 25,11. Shawna Montgomery had two kills, three assists and two blocks for the Varsity Chiefs (0-1). Kara Hardin had one ace, two assists and a dig, while Sarah Killam had 13 assists, one kill and a block.
The JV Lady Chiefs lost two games to Catholic, 25-5, 25-9. Sophomore Rebecca Masaitis had one dig for the JV Lady Chiefs (0-1).
The JV and Varsity teams will be in action again Tuesday at Jay beginning at 4:00.
Escambia County High Football Game Moved To Atmore
August 31, 2010
Escambia County High School’s football this week against B.C. Rain has been moved to Atmore Friday night, according to Head Coach Mark Heaton.
The game was first scheduled for Friday night at B.C. Rain. It was the moved to Thursday, but both teams agreed to move the game to the Blue Devil’s home turf this Friday night.
With the move, Escambia County’s schedule now includes five home games and five on the road.
