Tate Head Football Coach Ronnie Douglas Resigns

Tate High School’s Ronnie Douglas has resigned after two seasons as head football coach.

Douglas said he must take care of his outside car wash businesses. He told his coaching staff of the decision Thursday.

He led the Aggies on two trips to the playoffs in his two seasons with a 8-3 record in his first season and a 9-3 record in his second season. The back-to-back play off appearances were the first for the Tate Aggies since the 1976 and 1977 seasons. Before Douglas, the Aggies won a four total games during three seasons.

FloridaHighSchoolFootball.com also named Douglas as the All-Panhandle Coach of the Year.

NHS JV Baseball Over WFHS; Jay Softball Downs NHS, Tate Over Milton

Northview 4, West Florida 2 (JV)

The Junior Varsity Northview Chiefs defeated West Florida High School 4-2 Thursday in Pensacola. The Chiefs are back in action, weather permitting, today at Freeport. The JV plays at 4:00 followed by the varsity district game at 6:30.

Tate 6, Milton 0
Tate 11, Milton 2 (JV)

The Tate Lady Aggies  topped Milton 6-0 Thursday. Savannah Rowell was on the mound for seven for Tate, striking out eight while allowing two hits. Lauren Brennon was 2-3 at the plate with a doulbe and RBI. Casey McCrackin was 3-4 with an RBI; Rachel Wright was 2-3; Ashley Barnett was 1-2 and Zaria Anderson was 1-1 for Tate.

The Lady Aggies will travel to Niceville on Friday, JV at 4:00 and varsity at 6:00.

Jay 12, Northview 2

The Jay Royals beat the Northview Chiefs 12-2 Thursday in Jay.  Dana Blackmon pitched six for the Royals, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out five. Michaela Stewart was 3-3 with two runs, two RBI’s, a double and a home run. Also for Jay:: Kolby Bray 3-4, 3 R, RBI, 3B; Harley Tagert 2-3, 1R, 2 RBI; Destiny Herring 2-4, 1 RBI; Avarie Jackson 2-2, 2 R.

Jay (8-3, 4-1) will host Baker at 6 p.m. Friday. Northview is set to host Holmes County with the varsity game at 6:00, following a 4 p.m. JV game.

Tate Aggies Remains Undfeated With 4-2 Win Over West Florida

Tate 4, West Florida 2 (Varsity – 8 innings)
Tate 10, West Florida 6 (JV)
Tate 8, West Florida 6 (9th)

The Tate High School Aggies beat West Florida  in eight innings Wednesday night 4-2. The Aggies remain undefeated at 9-0 overall, 4-0 in the district. Michael Sherrill (2-0) took the win in relief, striking out five and only giving up three hits. Trace Penton went 3-4 with a double, while Hunter Worley was 2-3 with two RBI’s. Brandon Fryman went 2-4.

The Aggies will host Crestview on Friday with the varsity at 7:00, junior varsity at 4:30, It’s a Blackout night, with all students entering the district game for $1 with $1 hot dogs for students and door prizes each inning.

Cantonment’s TaylorMade 14U Wins Battle On The Bay

The TaylorMade 14U team from Cantonment won the recent Battle on the Bay tournament in Gulf Beeze. TaylorMade went 5-0 beating Spanish Fort for the championship. The team is currently 15-1 with two tournament wins and a second place tourney finish.

Tate Remains Undefeated With Win Over Fort Walton Beach

The Tate High School Aggies beat Fort Walton Beach 10-0 Tuesday. The Aggies, now 8-0 overall, 4-0 in the district, held an early 5-0 advantage after the first.

Jesse Gunter earned the win for the Aggies, pitching for just over four innings, allowing seven hits, four errors and four runs and striking out one. Cole Halfacre 3-5, RBI, 3 runs; Sawyer Smith 2-5, RBI, 3 runs; Mark Miller 2-4, RBI, 2 runs; Jacob Saulnier 2-3, 2 RBIs; Hunter Worley 2-2, RBI; Brandon Fryman 1-3, run

In junior varsity action Tuesday, Tate beat Fort Walton Beach 9-2.

The Aggies will travel to West Florida High School on Wednesday. The JV plays at 4:00, followed by the varsity at 6:30.

Northview Remains Undefeated With Nine-Inning Win Over Central

Tate Downs Navarre To Remain Unbeaten; Northview JV Splits Miller Double Header

Trace Penton pitched a one hit complete game shutout Saturday as the Tate Aggies beat Navarre 3-0.  With the win, the Aggies are now 7-0, 3-0 in the district. . Sawyer Smith  was 2-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI. Branden Fryman was 2-3. The Aggies next
travel to Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday. The junior varsity will play at 4:30, and the varsity will play at 7:00.

T.R. Miller 3, Northview 2 (JV)

The junior varsity Northview Chiefs split a double header with T.R. Miller Saturday in Brewton. Northview’s JV beat Miller 4-2, and Miller got past Northview 3-2. Northview’s JV next travels to West Florida High on March 12 for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch.

Tate, Northview Baseball Both Remain Undefeated

The Northview Chiefs added another one to the win column Friday night with a 7-2 win over Holmes County in a district game. The undefeated Northview Chiefs (8-0) travel to undefeated Central (3-0) on Monday. The JV Chiefs beat Holmes County 7-6. Northview’s JV will play at 11 a.m. double header on Saturday at T.R. Miller.

Northview High Opens New Weight Training Facility

March 6, 2015

Work is complete on a new weight training facility at Northview High School.

The new 3,500 square foot building includes a weight room, locker room, coaches’ offices, storage and accompanying restrooms. The $625,000 construction budget was funded with local option sales tax monies.

The facility will be used for males, while the old girls and boys weight rooms inside the school gym will be combined and remodeled for female use.
