Molino Ballpark Spring Registration Now Underway

Spring registration is underway at the Molino Ballpark.
Registration will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. each Saturday through January 28. The registration fee is $65 for t-ball for ages 4-6, baseball for ages 7-15 an softball for ages 7-16. Signup early by January 14 for an additional $5 off.
Tate Wrestling Team Wins Holiday Invitational Tournament

The Tate High School wrestling team won the recent Tate High Invitational Tournament.

Tate Grad Long Named To FCS All-American Team
December 26, 2016
Tate High School 2013 graduate Lorenzo Long was named third team FCS All-America by the Associated Press. Long currently plays for the Wofford Terriers.
Long, a senior, started all 14 games at fullback. He led the Terrers and the Southern Conference with 1,424 rushing yards, while also leading the league in rushing touchdowns with 18. He ended his career with 3,479 rushing yards to rank fifth in school history and his 43 career rushing touchdowns are third in school history.
Long was named second team All-America by STATS and third team All-America by both the Associated Press and College Sports Madness. He also earned first team All-Southern Conference honors.
Tate Wrestling Wins Gator Duals Invitational Tourney

The Tate High School wrestling team recently went 4-0 to take home first place in the Gator Duals Invitational at Satsuma, AL. Alex Young (pictured bottom left) received the Best Upper Weight Match Award and Jacob Cochran (pictured bottom right) received the Outstanding Wrestler award in the Lightweight Class.
The Aggie wrestling team will host their only home varsity match of the year on December 30. Both events will be held in the Fryman Gymnasium at Tate High School. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m.

There are gifts to show your support of wildlife, and gifts that help you carry on the tradition of spending time with family and friends on Florida’s beautiful beaches, waterways and wildlife management areas. Check out our shopping list, because the holidays are almost here!
- Purchase a Florida fishing or hunting license (you can even buy a gift card!) by visiting GoOutdoorsFlorida.com, calling 888-347-4356 or stopping by a participating retailer. There are licenses for residents and visitors including a Youth Gold Sportsman’s License, which is good until a child turns 17. This license locks in the price, and gives a young person bragging rights as a card-carrying sportsman. Hunters and those who enjoy target shooting continue to be an important force in funding wildlife restoration and management. Through the super successful Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, which was passed in 1937, every time hunters and target shooters buy firearms, ammunition and archery equipment, a percentage of that money is designated for conservation. Wildlife Restoration Program dollars are then allocated to state fish and wildlife agencies (such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) for projects that restore, conserve and improve wildlife and their habitats. Giving a license as a gift is a great way to support conservation while putting a smile on the face of an outdoor lover.
- Fishing and boating gifts will not only please anglers on your list, but contribute to fisheries conservation as well! Funds from the purchases of fishing equipment and some boating items are collected and apportioned by the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund and help manage America’s fishery resources.

- Buy “Planting a Refuge for Wildlife,” the beautifully illustrated booklet that helps people entice butterflies, hummingbirds and other animals into their backyards.
- A personal floatation device, also known as a life jacket, can give someone you care about a safe boating experience. A newer model, such as an inflatable belt pack or suspender-style life jacket, could replace an older, bulkier life jacket.

Central Takes Jay Tourney; Northview Tops Jay In OT Thriller

The Central Jaguar boys and girls won the Jay Christmas Tournament Friday night at Jay High School.
Boys Championship:

Boys Consolation:
Northview 63, Jay 61
In the consolation boys game, the Northview Chiefs beat the Jay Royals 64-63 in an overtime thriller.
The game was tied 50-50 at the end of regulation. The Chiefs were down 61-58 with 16.2 seconds in the overtime period and were down 62-61 with 7.3 seconds remaining. After gaining a point on a free throw, the Royals were up 63-61. The Chiefs took the win on a buzzer-beating three pointer to take the tournament’s third place spot.

Milton dominated the first period to take a 15-5 lead over Northview, but the Chiefs answered with a strong second period to make it 19-18 at the half. The Panthers went on to take the win 39-34 Friday afternoon at Jay High School.

East Tops West In OT At All Star Football Game
December 17, 2016
For the first time in five years, the East beat the West in the Pensacola Sports Association Subway All-Star football game Friday night.
The East, comprised of seniors from Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties, beat Escambia County’s West team 10-7 in overtime at the Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The first score came for the West on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Z’Khari Blocker (Escambia) to AJ Yates (Catholic).
The game was tied 7-7 headed into overturn when the West’s Jake Henry (Tate) threw an interception. That allowed the East’s Colton Norris (Rocky Bayou) to kick a field goal that made it through the upright’s despite a hands on touch from Antonio Moultrie (West Florida).
Martin McGhee (Escambia) was named West Offensive MVP, while Robert Reeves (PHS) was named West Defensive MVP). Offensive MVP for the East was Jordan Tinder (Niceville) and Braijon Carr (Niceville) to East Defensive MVP.
At a Thursday night banquet, Tate’s Raymond Freeman was awarded the Senior Scholar Athlete Award for the West.

All Star Football Game Is Friday At Wahoos Stadium

Friday, the best seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties will play in the 13th annual Subway High School All-Star Football Game. For the first time the game will be held at the Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Tickets to the game are $11 at the gate, $9 with a canned food item for Manna Food Bank
