Baseball: Northview Beats 20-0 Neal, Tate Shuts Out Washington; Jay Softball Over NHS

W.S. Neal’s 20-0 perfect season came to an end at the hand of the Northview Chiefs Thursday night.
Northview downed Neal 3-2 in East Brewton.
Tanner Levins pitched six innings for the Chiefs, and Seth Killam finished it off in the seventh.
For the Chiefs: Jackson Moore 1-3, R, RBI; Seth Killam 1-3, R; John Chivington 2-3, R, RBI.
The Chiefs will host Baker Friday at 6:30.
Tate 10, Washington 0
Raymond Lafleur tossed a no-hitter as the Tate Aggies shut out Washington 10-0 Thursday night.
Lafeur recorded six strike outs in six innings.

The Jay Lady Royals beat the 10-0 Northview Lady Chiefs by the score of 3-2 Thursday night in Jay.
BayBears Power Past Wahoos 9-4 In Season Opener

The Mobile BayBears spoiled the Blue Wahoos encore to their Southern League Championship with a 9-4 win over Pensacola on Opening Day at Hank Aaron Stadium on Thursday night.
Daniel Wright suffered the shortest outing of his professional career as the Wahoos lost on Opening Day for just the second time in team history.
After a clean opening inning for Wright and the Blue Wahoos, things quickly turned south in the second.
The BayBears opened the scoring early in the inning. Double-A debutant, Michael Barash, homered off the first pitch he saw in the second to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Connor Justus and Zach Gibbons fired back-to-back singles before Bo Way doubled Mobile’s advantage with an RBI groundout.
With two outs, the BayBears rallied for five additional runs thanks to a pair of BayBear hits and a pair of Blue Wahoos errors. Wright had a chance to end the second when Thaiss hit a weak grounder towards first but Wright’s flip to Gavin LaValley sailed over the first baseman’s head allowing Brennon Lund to score.
Two batters later Hutton Moyer made the Blue Wahoos pay when he crushed his first home run of the season to make it 7-0.
Pensacola tried to climb back into the game when they plated a pair of runs in the third. LaValley’s two-run single gave the Blue Wahoos a brief surge of momentum.
The BayBears proved to be relentless as they answered Pensacola’s two runs with two of their own in the bottom of the inning.
There were several bright spots that could be extracted from Thursday’s contest. Nick Longhi, in his first game since injuring his elbow, went 3-for-4. LaValley and Gabriel Guerrero both reached base twice.
The bullpen also turned in a solid effort after the seven-run rally. Brennan Bernardino, in his second season with the Blue Wahoos, pitched two near-perfect innings while newcomer Jose Rafael De Paula did not allow a run over his two innings of work.
Pensacola will put this game behind them and get ready for tomorrow when RHP Keury Mella gets the ball for the Blue Wahoos opposite RHP Luis Pena.

The undefeated Northview Lady Chiefs beat Catholic High School on Monday and J.U. Blacksher Tuesday night.
Northview 10, Catholic 0 (6 innings)
Tori Herrington pitched a shutout Monday evening at Northview as the Lady Chiefs beat the Catholic Crusaders 10-0 in six innings. She faced 22 batters, striking out 14. Herrington went 3-4 with 3 RBi’s at the plate. Also for Northview: Ashley Ragsdale 1-4, RBI,; Aubree Love 3-4, 2 RBI; Valen Shelley 3-4, 2 RBI.
Northview 9, J.U. Blacksher 1
The Northview Lady Chiefs beat J.U. Blacksher in Uriah, AL, Tuesday, 9-1.
Tori Herrington had nine strikeouts and was 3-5 with 2 RBI. For Northview: Ashley Ragsdale 2-3; Kendall Enfinger 2-5, RBI; Aubree Love 2-5, 2 RBI; Valen Shelley 2-4, 2 RBI; Heather Knowles 1-4, 2 RBI; Anna Sullivan 1-4; Rylee Huskey 1-4.

Tate Shuts Out Coral Park In Sarasota Classic

The Tate Aggies beat Coral Park 9-0 Thursday in the Sarasota Classic to go 2-2 during the week’s tournament play.
The Aggies score one in the first before coming alive in the third with eight runs on their way to an error-free game.
Trey Lafleur threw a complete game with one hit, no runs, two walks and 13 strikeouts.
Ryan Greene, Reid Halfacre, Raymond Lafleur, Mason Land and Jesse Sherrill had RBI’s for Tate.
Tate Falls To Sarasota

The Tate Aggies lost to Sarasota 7-2 in a battle of the historic champions in the Sarasota Classic.
Tate took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Sarasota answered with four in the bottom of the third and three in the bottom of the fourth.
Sarasota and Tate have won a combined 15 state championships and are third and fourth among public schools with the most championships in state history.
Darrien Mcdowell took the loss for Tate Aggies Varsity 2018 . He surrendered five runs on five hits over three innings, striking out one.

Pine Forest Shuts Out Northview; Tate Beats Miami Beach

The Tate Aggies beat Miami Beach High School 2-1 Tuesday.
Cole Fryman earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Aggies. He allowed just one run on four hits, walking one and striking out one.

The Pine Forest Eagles defeated the Northview Chiefs Tuesday afternoon at Pine Forest.
After a scoreless first inning, the 6A Eagles exploded with nine runs and sealed the win in just three innings with two runs in the bottom of the third to invoke the 10-run rule.
Singleton took the loss for the 1A Chiefs surrendering 11 runs on 12 hits while striking out two. Nolan Rigby earned the win for Pine Forest with no run, three hits and striking out two.
For Northview: Seth Killam 1-3; Trevor Singleton 1-3; John Chivington 1-3; Jason Fischer 1-2.

The Pine Forest Eagles took advantage of a sixth inning error to take the lead on the way to defeating the Northview Chiefs 6-4 Monday in Bratt.
Seth Killam took the loss for the Chiefs took the loss for the Northview Chiefs. He allowed four runs on three hits over three innings, walking one and striking out three. Jackson Moore started the game for the Chiefs, giving up four runs in four innings and striking out four.
