Northview Shuts Out Flomaton

The Northview Chiefs shut out Flomaton 9-0 Thursday in Bratt.

Nick Venable led on the pitcher’s mound for Northview. He surrendered no runs and not hits over two and two-thirds innings while walking one and striking out five. Jacob Bryant tossed three innings allowing tow hits and no runs with four strikeouts. Taylor Wilson tossed one and a third innings with one hit and one strikeout.

Evan Tatum led on the mound for Flomaton. He surrendered three runs on six hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Jackson Steele threw two innings out of the bullpen. Steele pitched two innings, allowing five hits and six runs with three strikeouts.

Jackson Moore, Adam Aliff and Tanner Levins led the Chiefs with two hits each.

In junior varsity action, Northview beat Flomaton 6-1.

The Northview Chiefs will host the Baker Gators Thursday in a district matchup.

Denmark Defeats Tate

Denmark (Alpharetta, GA) defeated the Tate Aggies Tuesday night 11-2.

Jordan Jarman started the game for Tate, lasting two innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out one. Jace Dunsford, Ethan George, and Brantley Culbertson each contributed in relief.

Raymond Lafleur led the Aggies with three hits. Mason Land and Hunter McLean added two each, and Jadon Fryman had one hit for Tate.

Northview Softball Sweeps Excel; Tate Freshmen Baseball Beats Gulf Breeze

The Northview Chiefs swept two from Excel, AL, Monday in Bratt.

The varsity Chiefs defeated Excel 10-5.

Tori Herrington earned the win with 10 strikeouts.

At the plate for Northview: Ashley Ragsdale 2-2, RBI; Heather Knowles 1-2, 3B; Aubree Love 3-4, 2RBI; 2B; Kailyn Watson 1-3, Kendall Enfinger 1-4; Lydia Smith 1-1; Payton Gilchrist 1-3, RBI; Kaitlyn Gafford 1-2, RBI; Rylee Huskey 1-1.

In junior varsity action, the Northview Chiefs beat Excel 12-0 after an explosive second inning.

Tate 11, Gulf Breeze 1 (Freshmen)

The freshmen Tate Aggies beat Gulf Breeze 11-1 Monday.

Conner Wright pitched the win on the mound for the Aggies. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out four and walking one. Chase Lombardo threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Paul Whitson and Kirk Mosley went 2-2 at the plate for the freshmen Aggies. Warren Henke, Dagan Guy, Jaxson Stafford, Brent Vinson, Josiah Glodfelter, Tucker Griffin and Wiley Griffin all had one hit each for Tate.

Northview Gets Another District Win Over Jay (With Gallery)

The Northview Chiefs beat the Jay Royals 3-2 in a district matchup Friday night in Bratt.

Seth Killam earned the win, giving up two runs on four hits, walking one and striking out 10 in seven innings.

Josh Majors took the loss for Jay, going for four innings while allowing six hits, three runs and striking out four. Miller tossed two innings in relief.

Nick Venable led the Chiefs at the plate going 2-2 with a run.  Also for Northview: Billy Rolin R; Killam 1-2, R; Jackson Moore 1-3, RBI; Adam Aliff 1-2; Jacob Bryant 1-3, RBI. Venable stole three bases for the Northview, while Killam took two and Aliff and Bryant stole one each.

Senior Trevor Flowers homered for Jay, and senior Dutch Burkhead had a triple.

The Chiefs were coming off a 5-0 shutout of Jay Thursday night in Jay and are now 4-0 in the disrict. Northview will host Flomaton Monday night, and Jay will be at Washington High in Pensacola.

Tate Beats Washington In District Game; Honors ‘98 Championship Team

The Tate Aggies picked up another district win Friday night, 11-5 over Washington.

Cole Fryman earned the win for Tate in three innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two. Four other pitchers — Ethan George, Brantley Culbertson, Jace Dunsford and Easton Sidner all record outs on the way to the Tate win.

Mason Land and Hunter McLean led Tate at the plate with three hits each.

Tate was coming off a 17-1 blowout win over Washington on Thursday.

The Aggies are 10-1-1 on the season. Next week, they will play Denmark, GA, on Tuesday and Tallahassee Lincoln on Friday.

Before Friday night’s game, Tate honored their 1998 state championship team. The pitching staff was led by Frankie McGill who won the 1998 Gatorade player of the year for Florida, and Brad Sollon went on to
pitch in the majors for Cincinnati. The team went 32-3 with 322 runs, 38 home runs, a .380 team batting average, a .516 on-base percentage, 83 stolen bases and a 1.83 team ERA.

Tate 15, Washington 3 (JV)

The junior varsity Tate Aggies beat Washington 15-3 Friday afternoon.

Northview Weightlifting Competes At Regionals; Kite Takes First And Advances To State

The Northview Chiefs boys weightlifting team competed that the Region 1-1A weightlifting meet Friday at Baker High School0

Individually, junior Trent Kite won the 129-pound region championship and earned an automatic bid to the FHSAA state championship weightlifting meet. Kite totaled 400 pounds on his two lifts and beat the second place lifter by 30 pounds overall. This is the second consecutive Region 1-1A Championship for Kite.

Also placing for the Chiefs were:

154-pound weight class: Jarius Moorer, 5th
169-pound weight class: Daniel Merit, 4th
183-pound weight class: Aunterio Minor, 6th
219-pound weight class: Jacob Hawkins, 5th; Lance McLaughlin 6th

As a team, the Chiefs placed fifth among the 16 total schools, falling to Panama City Arnold, Wewahitchka, Panama City Mosley and Baker, respectively.

The state championship will be held on Saturday, April 13 in Panama City.
