Charles E. Casey

Charles E. Casey died at home on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Casey. He was blessed to have found love a second time with wife, Dorothy Gindl Lambert Casey.
He is survived by two step-children, Louis (Skip) N. Lambert (June) and Brenda Lambert Sowinski (Jim), five grandchildren; Chad Lambert (Janet), Kevin Lambert (Susan), Bridget Sowinski Davidson (Bob), Julie Anna Sowinski, Brian Charles Sowinski (Amy), three great grandchildren; Dalton Louis Lambert, Aidan Marshall Lambert and Margaret Theresa Davidson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 19, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Barrineau Park with Father Thomas Koyickal and Father George Thekkummattathil officiating. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park, Pensacola on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Pallbearers are Chad Lambert, Kevin Lambert, Brian Sowinski, Jim Sowinski, Bob Davidson and John Welch. Honorary pallbearers are the Santa Maria Counsel of the Knights of Columbus.

Martha Johnson Hammann

Martha Johnson Hammann, age 86, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of Dr. Harold and Helen Johnson, where she spent her youth with her three siblings. On July 7, 1945, she married Eugene Hammann, the love of her life. During their 64 years of marriage, they spent most of their life in Illinois before retiring to Kill Devil Hills, NC. In 2004, she and her husband moved to Pensacola, FL.
Martha was a registered nurse who enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps in 1945, shortly after graduation from St. Luke’s Hospital, NY. She served her country during World War II at Fort Dix, NJ. After raising her four daughters, she resumed her nursing career working in labor and delivery at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. Prior to her retirement from nursing, she worked as an office nurse for Peter Couri, MD, an obstetrician in Peoria, IL.
In Pensacola, Martha was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where she was proud to be asked to use her musical ability playing the piano and organ during church services. She loved golf and played frequently at Cypress Lakes (Solutia) Golf Club where she had her first hole-in-one on the eighth hole where a cypress tree now stands in her memory. She was an active woman who loved nature, music, her family, and the many friends who crossed her path during her life. She cherished hummingbirds, butterflies and flowers, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and cross-stitch needle work.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, four daughters – Nancy (Tom) Sislow, Linda Hammann, Carol (Larry) Bergman, and Marje (John) Luetkemeyer, four grandchildren – Joseph Sislow, Brandon (Marcela) Sislow, Jennifer Luetkemeyer and Lauren Luetkemeyer, one great granddaughter, Sophia Sislow and one brother Paul Johnson (Jacksonville, FL), along with many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy (Johnson) Piddington and her brother Roger Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 15th from 6pm-8pm at Faith Chapel North, 1000 Highway 29, Cantonment, FL 32533.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 16 at 10:30am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL, officiated by Rew Randolph, followed by a reception for family and friends. Internment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Foy Lane Hartzog, 74, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010 in Atmore, AL.
Mr. Hatrzog was a native of Louisville, AL, a resident of Atmore, AL for the past 14 years, a retired employee of the Alabama Department of Transportation Highway Department for 31 years, and attended the Upper Prospect Baptist Church in Five Points, AL.
Survivors include: his Wife of 53 years, Connie Hartzog of Atmore, AL; his Son, DeLane and Frances Hartzog of Prattville, AL; his Daughter, Lynn and Randy Williams of Pensacola, FL; 5 Grandchildren, Matthew Williams and Miranda Williams, both of Foley, AL, LaDanna Thomas of Pensacola, FL, Adam Hartzog of Auburn, AL and Heather Hartzog Gunn (Michael) of Prattville, AL; 3 Great-Grandchildren, Ashton Thomas, Brantlie Thomas and Emma Kate Gunn; and two Sisters, Cynthia and Hubert Beasley of Louisville, AL and Shirley and Billy Taylor of Eufaula, AL.
Funeral services will he held Monday, March 15, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.

Marion “Big Boy” Hadley, 77, of Atmore, AL died Monday, March 08, 2010 at his residence. He was a retired Sales Representative from Nevada Power Company; born August 25, 1932 in Perdido, Al to the late John William “Bill” Hadley and the late Venie Hadley. He was a member of the Atmore Baptist Temple and was also known as one of the “Barnes Boys”.
He is preceded in death by one Sister, Marie Byrd and a Special Nephew, Johnny Hadley.
Survivors are his loving wife Jewel Hadley of Atmore, AL. Children: Kathy (Rick) Cooper of Pensacola, FL; Susan (Don) Schmidt of Atmore, AL; Angela Hubbird of Pensacola, FL; Sandy (Brian) Kemp of Northport, AL; Jon Taylor of Vance, AL; Kim (Sammy) Lee of Atmore, AL. Norman R. Miller, age 75, of Jay, died March 4, 2010 in Jay, Florida.
He resided in Jay since 1973, where he served as Jay Police Chief.
He is survived by his sons, Charlie Riddle, Ray Miller and Tim Miller; daughters, Kathy March, and Charlotte (Bobby) Quante; brother, Richard (Nancy) Miller; grandchildren, Joshua March, Danny March, Bryan Quante, Geneva Miller, Tabatha Miller, Kenneth Miller, Maegon Kelley, Travis Miller and Terry Miller; great-grandson, Ryan Kelley.

Mr. Theron Maddox, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at a Mobile hospital.
Mr. Maddox was a native of Brewton, AL, a resident of Atmore, AL for the past 57 years, and an employee of Hainje’s Furniture Store for 52 years. He attended the First Baptist Church for the past 16 years and was a deacon at the Martinville Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Brothers and a Sister.
Survivors include: his Wife of 57 years, Florence Maddox of Atmore, AL; his Son, Tim Maddox of Atmore, AL; and 3 Grandchildren, Amanda Raines of Atmore, AL, Caitlin Maddox of Atmore, AL, and Troy Maddox of Los Lunas, NM.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.
Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.

William Patrick “Willie” Merritt passed away suddenly as a result of an auto accident Friday, March 5, 2010.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Willie was loved by everyone who met him.
Survivors include his parents, Raymond “Buck” and Susan Merritt; sisters, Teresa D. Allen (Clay), Kim Vaughn (Robert), and Maggie Lafferty (David); brothers, Ray Merritt, Jr. (DeeDee), and James Merritt (Susan); grandmother, Ruby Johnson; many aunts, uncles; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He will be missed deeply by all.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church with Father Tom and Father George celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Barrineau Park.
Pallbearers will be A.J, Jonathan, and Christopher Echele, Lucky and Raymond Hallford, and Chuck Ward.

Gerald George “Jerry” Huelsbeck

Gerald George “Jerry” Huelsbeck passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, March 3, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Cantonment, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was retired from NAS Pensacola after 28 years of service.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Myrtle (Berg) Huelsbeck; his brothers, Charles J. “Pete” Huelsbeck, Sr. and Paul Huelsbeck.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Frances (Helms) Huelsbeck; two sons, Robert Joseph and Jason Everett Huelsbeck; three sisters, Grace Krochta, Elizabeth (Robert) Haber and Margaret Marabella; two brothers, John W. Huelsbeck, Sr., and Joseph F. (Jody) Huelsbeck; two sisters-in-law, Amy Helms Phillips and Mary E. Lowery; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home, 1000 Hwy 29, Cantonment. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Huelsbeck Cemetery in Farm Hill with nephews serving as pallbearers.

William Donald “Don” Huie

William Donald “Don” Huie, of Wing, Alabama went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2010.
He was born in McDavid, and retired from Reichhold Chemical in 1988. He was an avid coon hunter and loved to spend time with friends in the woods. He traveled around the country to coon hunt and go to meetings to preserve the rights of dog hunters everywhere. He was on the forefront of opening Blackwater Forest for dog hunters and coon hunters. He was one of the founding members of the Jay Coon Hunting Club and the Northwest Florida Tree Hound Club, of which he was also on the Board of Directors.
Don never met a stranger and was a great storyteller. He remembered every detail and kept his listeners captivated until the end.
Don was preceded in death by his parents William Homer Huie and Pencie Ola Bass Huie. He leaves to cherish his memories sons Wayne (Jo Ann), Bruce (Myrtice), Jim (Debbie), and Tom and daughter, Sheila Bahner; and sisters: Frances Green of Old Town, Fl, Lillian Green of Century, Mavis King of McDavid, Mable Thames of Oak Grove, and Wylene (Pat) Miller of Marietta, GA; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jim Huie, Josh Huie, Steven Huie, Guy Huie, James Skinner, and Henry Langford. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Davis, Curtis Nixon, Aubrey Johnson, Dan Fike, Steve Coplen, Robert Davis, Josh Simpson, Daniel Young, and Mike Yarborough. A special thanks goes to, Charles Davis, Dr. James Brown, Dr. Kevin Jones, nurses and staff at the Medical Center Clinic, and West Florida Hospital. Burial was at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery on Saturday, February 20.

Harry Fowler, age 83, of Cantonment, Florida passed away Thursday, February 25 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 18, 1926 in Munson, Florida. He retired from Monsanto. He served the Lord faithfully for 71 years and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Rev. Riley and Virgie Fowler, son, Clyde, his sister Hazel and his brother James.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years; Geraldine, sons; Donald (Donna) and Glenn, daughter; Regina (Ronnie) Golloher, grandchildren; Riley, Jeremy and Brannon Fowler, Krista Spears, Jonathan and Nicholas Golloher, 9 great grandchildren and brothers; David, Sidney, Lloyd and Jack Fowler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 1, 2010 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Larry McKeehan and Rev. Avon Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Serving, as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel North-Cantonment on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
