Mr. Michael Shane Clemmons, 25, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at a Pensacola hospital.

Mr. Clemmons was a native and lifelong resident of Christian Home, FL, and attended the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include: his Mother, Lisa Kelley of Atmore, AL; his Father, Donnie Clemmons of Atmore, AL; Stepfather, Greg Forbes of Atmore, AL; Girlfriend, Lisa Lynette Madison of Century, FL; his Son, Zakhel Cameron Clemmons of Century, FL; his Daughter, Zamya Jade Clemmons of Century, FL; two Brothers, Nathan Hunter Clemmons of Christian Home, FL, and Troy Gambel Clemmons of Atmore, AL; a Sister, Charley Rose Clemmons Davis of Atmore, AL; Grandparents, Bennie and Clara Stokes of Christian Home, FL, and Wilodean Davis of Atmore, AL; and three Best Friends, Carl Moorer of Walnut Hill, FL, Chance Schoonover of Byrneville, FL, and David Jernigan of Bratt, FL.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Boutwell officiating.

Burial will follow at Godwin Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Jernigan, Chance Schoonover, Nathan Clemmons, Carl Moorer, Troy Clemmons and J.R. Flowers.

Honnorary pallbearers will be Dereck Moorer, Sammie Moorer and T.O. Sheffield.

Floyd Edward Barlow

April 27, 2010

Floyd Edward Barlow, age 69, passed away April 18, 2010, in New Caney, Texas. He graduated from Ernest Ward High School in 1958 and was in the Marines for four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Annie Pace Barlow.

Mr. Barlow is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jackie Gibson Barlow and their children, Candi and Steve Weekley, Jeri and David Johnston, and LaDonna and Sherman Welch; six grandchildren, Lauren Weekley, Meghan and Andy Keeton, Ty Welch, Cameron Welch, Conner Johnston and Parker Johnston; brothers and sisters Genevive Bell, Walter Barlow Jr., James Barlow, Margaret Ann Bryars, Judy Rathsack, Diane Elkins, Donald Barlow and Theresa Barlow; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; a wonderful church family and a host of friends.

Interment was in Rosewood Memorial Park, Porter, Texas.

James Edward Pugh

James Edward Pugh, age 68, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at his home. Mr. Pugh was a lifelong resident of Barrineau Park and a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.

 

Self employed as a farmer where he farmed hundreds of acres and he was also known as the “Hayman”. After that Mr. Pugh was an accomplished carpenter and cabinet builder before he was employed with Escambia County School District, where he was employed for 22 years. He retired from the Capital Improvement Shop as a Construction Mechanic II on July 5, 2002. Mr. Pugh welcomed everyone into his home and never met a stranger. He was loved by all, most of all he loved his family and would do anything to help anyone.

 

Preceding him in death was his father; Elvis B. Pugh, his mother; Mary Bell Pugh, his granddaughters; Shana Marie Sanders and Angel Pugh, his brother; Gillis Pugh and his brother-in-law; Ricky Robinson.

 

Survivors include his wife of 49 years; Anita Lynn Pugh, his sons; Keevan (Donna), Shannon (Leann) and Jack (Mellisa), his three granddaughters; Katie (Joe), Jennifer (Andy) and Skye Eller his brother; Arnold (Earlene), his sister-in-law; Jackie (D.L.), his great granddaughters; Taylor Bailey, Tabitha and Tatum Harris and Allyssa Simmons as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Faith chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Ed Cotten and Rev. Fred Stallworth officiating. Interment will follow at Oliver Pugh  Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Frankie Archer, Mike Barnes, Brad Bodree, Randy Henderson, Mark Seaman and George Whitehead.

 

Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Gulsby, Jackie McCaskill, Harvey Shelby and Lance Rawson.

Larry Etheridge Hamilton

Larry Etheridge Hamilton, age 66, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010. He served his country for 4 years in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.

Larry Hamilton is preceded in death by his mother, Florrie; father, Etheridge Hamilton and brother, Lester.

Larry Hamilton is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sister, Johnnie (Walt) Waters; brother, Harold (Joyce) Hamilton; step-daughter, Alise (Mike) Robinson and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment with Rev. Jim Duck officiating. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 pm.

Arlene Davis Godwin

Mrs. Arlene Davis Godwin, 96, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010 in Oak Grove, FL.

Mrs. Godwin was a native of Davisville, FL and a resident of Oak Grove, FL for most of her life. She was a member of the First Class of Ernest Ward High School to finish the 12th grade, loved to garden and raise flowers and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her Husband, L.J. “Jack” Godwin and a Son, Jimmy Godwin.

Survivors include: two Sons, Harold E. Godwin of Pensacola, FL, and Cary Von and Connie Godwin of Altha, FL; her Daughter, Diane and Raymond Jerkins of Atmore, AL; 10 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; a Brother, Alvin Davis of Claremont, FL; and a Sister, Marie Davis of Davisville, FL

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Chewning officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 between 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Kyle Godwin, Jonathan Godwin, Jeffrey Moon, James Jerkins, Jeremy Jerkins, Greg Nita and Kevin Godwin.

Chuck Vantrease

Chuck Vantrease, age 51, of Cantonment, Florida passed away Monday, April 19, 2010. He was retired from the United States Navy with 24 years of service. Chuck was a member of The American Legion Post 340 and a life time member of the V.F.W. He also was a member of Voiture 1571 of the 40 and 8.

Preceding him in death were his father; Thomas Vantrease his step-father; Carson West and his brother; Danny Vantrease.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years; Janice Vantrease, his children; Dana Yvonne Lowery and Allan Jay “AJ” Vantrease, his mother; Florence West, his siblings; Tommy Vantrease (Darlene), Ronnie Vantrease (Mary), Gary Vantrease (Barbara), Sam Vantrease (Sandra) and Deeanna Mullina (Jimmy).

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 26, 2010 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Serving, as pallbearers will be The United States Navy Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.

Captain Jason James Paynter

Captain Jason James Paynter, age 38, passed away April 12, 2010 after a training flight accident. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1989 after graduating from high school. In 1997 Jason was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program. He graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from San Diego State University and was promoted to Second Lieutenant in May of 2001. Jason deployed several times beginning with a tour in Iraq as part of Desert Storm. He then completed one deployment to Afghanistan in 2005 and two deployments to Iraq in 2006 and 2008. Jason reported to NAS Pensacola VT-86 in January 2009 where he continued his dream and joy of flying. Jason was a man of many talents and had a passion for life. He never missed a chance to swing his golf clubs, go on a family outing on the boat, or spend time with his children. Jason was a man who loved to laugh and tell a good story. He will be forever missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brandy, his daughters, Destiny and Jasmine; his son, Jason Jr.; his mother, Patricia Annis; his father, Burton Paynter; his sister, Monique; and his two brothers, Anthony and John Paynter.

Mrs. Simmons was a native of Century, FL, a former resident of Flomaton, AL and Andalusia, AL, and a resident of Wing, AL for the past year. She was a loving wife, and mother of two beautiful children and attended the Rock Creek Assembly of God Church.

Zoey was a native and former resident of Andalusia, AL, and a resident of Wing, AL for the past year. She was a member of the Pleasant Home Eagles Softball Team, a straight A student at Pleasant Home Elementary School, a smiling friend to everyone and attended the Rock Creek Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Jeter was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore, AL, a former employee of Vanity Fair Mills for 25 years, and attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her Father, Louie Hardy.

Survivors include: her Husband of 43 years, Earl Jeter of Atmore, AL; two Sons, Joey Jeter of Atmore, AL, and Todd and Amy Jeter of Atmore, AL; her Mother, Dorothy Hardy of Atmore, AL; 2 Grandchildren, Blaine Jeter of Atmore, AL and Krista Jo “Sissy” Jeter of Atmore, AL; and three Sisters, Judy and Dale Clements of Millry, AL, Pat and Johnny Moore of Cantonment, FL, and Margie and Ken Harper of Atmore, AL.
