Mr. Horry Daniel Sanspree, 73, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Atmore, AL.

Mr. Sanspree was a native of Freemanville, AL, a lifelong resident of Atmore, AL, retired from the U.S. Air Force, a Veteran of Vietnam, and attended the Protestant Church.

Survivors include: his Wife of 54 years, Annette Sanspreee of Atmore, AL; three Daughters, Marty and Charles Stanton of Robinsonville, AL, Debra Sanspree Fight of Atmore, AL, and Becky and Scott Nelson of Bratt, FL; 4 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren; and a Nephew, Rodney Wayne Sanspree of Atmore, AL.

Graveside services will he held Monday April 5, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 5, 2010 from 2:00 P.M. until funeral time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Stanton, Scott Nelson, Rodney Sanspree, Danny Elliott, Jason Elliott and Travis Nelson.

Walter T. Watson

April 4, 2010

Walter T. Watson, 82, of Molino, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010.

Mr. Watson was born in Covington County, AL and resided in Pensacola for the past 51 years. He was the owner and barber of Watson’s Barber Shop on East Fairfield Drive for many years and a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Pensacola.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Wanda Watson; four children, Dwight Watson, Donna Gagnon, Denise Gean, and David Watson; two sisters, Bernadine Clanton and Farah Pate; and three grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 1 p.m. till the service time of 2 p.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Peggy Ellen Robbins Parr

Ms. Peggy Ellen Robbins Parr, age 61, of Hawkinsville, Ga., died Monday, March 29, 2010, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ramona Violet Yosin Robbins; a daughter, Tammy Michelle Parr Shoemaker and a brother, William D. Robbins, Jr.

Ms. Parr is survived by her father and step-mother, William D. and Bernice Robbins of Pace, Fla.; one daughter, Tina Marie Parr of N.C.; two brothers, Michael Joseph Robbins of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Robert Fillingim of Pace and one sister, Ramona Anne Gay.

A private family graveside service was held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ted Bridges officiating.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangements.

Bobby Lee Dixon

Mr. Bobby Lee Dixon, 81, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 in Canoe, AL.

Mr. Dixon was a native of Bluejacket, OK and a resident of Canoe, AL for the past 43 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Survivors include: his Wife of 55 years, Ruby Dixon of Canoe, AL; two Sons, Roger and Susan Jansen of Robinsonville, AL, and David H. and Mary Dixon of Brewton, AL; his Daughter, Melissa Murph and Eddy Crabtree of Bay Minette, AL; 5 Grandchildren, Ashley Keough of Orange Beach, AL, Wendy Madden of Homewood, AL, Keela NcNeal of Brewton, AL, Josef Murph of Loxley, AL, and Joshua Murph of Bay Minette, AL; and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Gabe Madden and Timothy Madden.

Graveside services will he held Monday April 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Canoe Methodist Cemetery with Elder Glenn Wardrop officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 4, 2010 between 5:30 and 7:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Helton, Mike Helton, Benny Harrellson, Mike Smith, Doug Smith, and Leonard Stanley.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the VFW.

Jeffrey D. Foster

Jeffrey D. Foster, 41, of Milton, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010. Jeff was born September 11, 1968 and was a lifelong resident of Munson, FL. Jeff was the owner of Jeffrey Foster Logging and was well-known in the Jay, Brewton and Milton area.

Jeff leaves behind the love of his life, Annette Wells-Foster, and his precious baby girl, Ally Foster.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Ralph “Jim” Stewart; brother, Derryl Foster; and paternal father, Charles “Wickey” Foster.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Annette Wells-Foster; daughter, Ally Foster, of Milton; mother, Bonnie Stewart, of Munson; brothers, Dean (Mona) Foster and Dale (Teresa) Foster, Doug (Ramona) Foster, Don (Ellen) Foster, and Jim (Tammy) Stewart; sisters, Connie (Paul) Timmons, Cindy (John) Whitehead, Sandy Foster, and Lori (Jim) Sammons; in-laws, Robin, Nancy and Abbi Wells; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Jeff were held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Burial followed in Springhill Baptist Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home directing. Friends called on the family from 5:00-9:00 PM, Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Dean Foster, Dale Foster, Doug Foster, Don Foster, Lumon Black and Clint Barnes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Foster, John Whitehead, Paul Timmons, Paul Timmons, II, Jim Stewart, Tony Faulkner and Stewart Vance.

Jeff never met a stranger and was loved by everyone whose life he blessed.

Margherita Swift Jones

March 28, 2010

Margherita Swift Jones, 93, of Century, Florida, died March 25, 2010. A native of Mobile, she grew up in Atmore, Alabama, and was a resident of Century for over 64 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Robinson Swift and Margherita Ligon Swift; her husband of 56 years, Carl Eugene Jones; her sister, Susan Swift Norman; and her brother, George Robinson Swift, Jr.

Graduating from the University of Alabama in 1938, she achieved academic honors and was named Honorary Brigade Cadet Colonel for the Army ROTC. She recently received her 75 year membership pin from Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

Survivors include her children, Carl Eugene Jones, Jr. (Ann) of Birmingham, Margherita Jones Soule of Pensacola, and James Robin Jones (Betty) of Flomaton; seven grandchildren; Carl Eugene Jones, III (Laura), Arlene Jones Sevy (Eric), Margherita Soule Eligator (David), Saranne Ligon Soule, Elizabeth Jones Hemby (Mark), Robin Houston Jones (Amanda), Andrew Luten Jones (Beth) and twelve great­grandchildren.

Margherita Jones gave generously of her time as a volunteer to the community working with groups including the Flomaton Research Club, Alger-Sullivan Historical Society, local schools, Turtle Point Environmental Center, Century Memory Loss Support Group, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was named Century’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 2003.

She was also an active and faithful participant in several churches over the years, including Trinity Episcopal Church, Atmore, Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Century United Methodist Church. With grace she provided happiness and a generous loving Christian spirit to her family and friends.

Graveside services were held at the Flomaton Cemetery in Flomaton, Alabama, on, Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Janet K. Lee and the Rev. John W. Phillips officiating. Visitation was held at the Century United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 6 until 8 pm.

Jack Lee McClaskey

Jack Lee McClaskey, 84, of Pensacola, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 2010. For 22 years, Jack proudly served his country in not only the Navy and Army but also the US Coast Guard where he retired in 1969 as a Chief Hospital Corpsman. He began his military career at the young age of 17 with the Unites States Navy in 1943 transitioning to the Naval Reserves 1947. In 1950 Jack made the transition to the United States Army where he was part of the invasion of North Korea at Wonson serving in Headquarters Co. 7th Infantry in 3rd Infantry Division.

Jack was pulled from action in 1951 after the tragic passing of his brother, Jim McClaskey, during the Korean War which rendered him the sole surviving son of his family. Jack honorably served in both WWII as well as the Korean War and was awarded several medals over the years for his courageous actions. In 1959 he began his service with the United States Coast Guard where he was stationed at various bases in New York, Texas, North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey. After relocating his family to Pensacola in 1969, Jack worked for the Westinghouse Electric Company for 10 years as a quality control inspector. He was also a long time and faithful member of The Gonzalez United Methodist Church in Cantonment.

Welcoming him in heaven were his parents, Thomas McClaskey and Lillian Griffin-McClaskey, as well as his brother Jim McClaskey and his sister Jean Kelly. Also eager to greet him was his wife of 36 years Mildred “Millie” Humphrey- McClaskey.

Jack is survived by his only daughter, Shari L. Aarts; son-in-law Fernando Aarts; and two grandchildren, Jon Aarts and Tasha Aarts. Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel North on Tuesday, March 30 at 10:30am to 11:30am followed by a memorial service fromt 11:30am to 12:15pm. Burial services will be held at Barrancus National Cemetery (NAS Pensacola) at 1:15pm following the memorial services on Tuesday.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 Highway 29 South Cantonment is in charge of arrangements.

Tina Marie Petty

Miss Tina Marie Petty, 47, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 in Cobleskill, NY.

Miss Petty was a native of Camp Lejeune, NC, a former resident of Atmore, AL, and a resident of Cobleskill, NY for the past 25 years. Tina came to live with Marion and family after the death of her “Mama” Grandmother. She then moved to Schoharie County, NY in 1985 where she worked two jobs, one at Price Chopper Supermarket and one at McDonalds. She lived a full and happy life, taking vacations to some very beautiful places in her off time, such as Virginia Beach, the Cape, Martha’s Vineyard, and Disney World. She was well liked by people and friends in the town where she resided, always attending the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, social functions, movies, community gatherings and celebrations. Preceded in death by her Grandparents who were also her adopted Parents, Dr. W.M. and Nell Petty.

Survivors include: three Brothers, Elgia Uriah Petty of Saipan, Basil Petty of Hayden, AL and Joe M. Petty of Atmore, AL; four Sisters, Marion P. Stedman of Flomaton, AL, Donna B. Fillmore of Flomaton, AL, Anita Lyssy of New Braunfels, TX and Prentis; and a number of cousins.

Funeral services will he held Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bennie Stokes and President Harlon Spencer officiating.

Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Clarence Buford Sanders

Mr. Clarence Buford Sanders, 68, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010 in Cantonment, FL.

Mr. Sanders was a native of Scranage, AL, a resident of Atmore, AL, for most of his life, a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, an avid gardener and attended the Baptist Church. Preceded in death by two Sisters, Luverne Jones and Velma Hendrix.

Survivors include: Marie Sanders of Atmore, AL; four Sons, Dennis and Michelle Fowler of Atmore, AL, Tim Sanders of Pensacola, FL, Tony and Cathy Sanders of Pace, FL, and Alan and Belinda Sanders of Elberta, AL; his Daughter, Charlotte and David Mendoza of Albuquerque, NM; 12 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandchild; two Brothers, Lonnie Sanders of Robertsdale, AL and Roy and Vivian Sanders of Rome, GA; two Sisters, Elbia and Audrey Wood of Berrydale, FL, and Barbara Ann Wood of Berrydale, FL; and a special Niece, Vicki and Sam Andrews of Cantonment, FL.

Funeral services will he held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hughes officiating.

Burial will follow at Moyeville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Nollon Wilson

Mr. Nollon Wilson, 61, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 in Atlanta, GA.

Mr. Wilson was a native of Canoe, AL, a resident of Century, FL, for most of his life, a retired U.S. Army Veteran from the Vietnam Era and attended the Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church. Preceded in death by his Wife, Maria Meena Wilson, a Brother, Alton Wilson, Jr. and a Sister, Juanita Driskell.

Survivors include: three Brothers, Comer Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Willie Wilson, all of Century, FL; and seven Sisters, Faye McGill of Cantonment, FL, Sylvia Godwin of Century, FL, Shirley White of Century, FL, Lois Aboud of Plano, TX, Willene Bryan, Nadine McCaw, and JoAnn Driskell, all of Century, FL.

Funeral services will he held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Broadhead and the Rev. David Boyd officiating.

Burial will follow at Beulah Chapel Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010 between 6:00 and 9:00 P.M. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be military honor guard.
