Dennis Currey

Dennis Currey, 68, of Pensacola, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness.
Dennis was born in Pensacola and graduated from J.M. Tate High School in 1962. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. He retired after 42 years from International Paper Company. He enjoyed such hobbies as restoring and attending classic Chevy car shows, fishing, gardening, cruising and spending time at the beach house. However, his favorite activity was to spend his time with his four grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jesse E. Currey.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn Cobb Currey; mother, Helen M. Currey; daughter, Lynn (Michael) Sharp; son,Van (Lori) Currey; grandchildren, Tyler and Megan Sharp and Hanna and Grant Currey; brother, David (Debi) Currey; and many other loving family members and friends.
Dennis will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, pawpaw, son and brother.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home with Brother Bill Flannigan officiating. Interment will follow at Klondike Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Faith Chapel North.
Eunice L. Ward

Eunice L. Ward, born Harris, passed away at age 94 on November 11, 2012, at Century Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis L. Ward; parents, James W. and Costilla Harris; son Earl L. Ward; daughter, twin Gloria F. Brown; son-in-law Derrill Starling, and five brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her son, Paul Von Ward (Tonette Long), daughter, twin Flora Starling, daughter Dianne Mrowiec (Edward Mroweic); 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward was a native of Geneva County, Alabama and a resident of Jay for over 73 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, dedicated mother of five children, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Pine Level Baptist Church, a caring housewife and co-worker with her farmer husband, and a renowned matriarch of the Ward and Harris communities. Mrs. Ward will be missed by all of those who respected her family values, dignity, and honorable reputation in the Jay rural area. She will be particularly remembered by her extended family and friends alike for her acute mind, sharp wit, wide reading and study, self-sufficiency, and independence. She managed her own life to the very end.
Visitation will be at the Jay Funeral Home on Thursday, November 15, 2012, from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Pine Level Baptist Church on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Stuart officiating and Reverend Paul Von Ward delivering the eulogy.
Interment will follow at the Ward Family Cemetery on Morristown Road.
Pallbearers are James Ward, Roy Ward, David Ward, Tony Starling, Greg Brown, and Freddy Brown.
Special thanks to the Century Care Center and its wonderful, professional, and caring staff for their attention and support over the last three months. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Ward asked that contributions be made to Pine Level Church.

Mr. Charles Carlos Ladner, 74, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in Century.
Mr. Ladner was a native of Bayville, Louisiana and resident of Century for the past 50 years. Mr. Ladner was a loving husband, father and papa. He was an avid fisherman, shrimper, hunter, professional carpenter and good neighbor to all.
Mr. Ladner is preceded in death by his son, Charles Carlos Ladner, Jr.; two brothers, Floyd Ladner and Shirley Ladner and one sister, Elaine Cruise.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dottie Mae Ladner of Century; two daughters, Cherryl (Oliver) Dykes of Century and Tina Ladner Bankston (Joe Smith) of Flomaton; three brothers, Lavoy Ladner of Gulfport, MS, Junior Ladner of Saucier, MS and Larry Ladner of Saucier, MS; two sisters, Nancy Ladner of Jacksonville and Sara Lee of Mississippi; four grandchildren, John Ladner, April Watson, Misty Lambeth and Lindsey Bagwell and 13 great-granchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with his daughter Cherryl Dykes officiating.
Burial will follow at the McCurdy Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 17, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nancy Louise Darby, age 66, of McDavid, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at her home.
Mrs. Darby was a native of Flomaton and had been a resident of McDavid for three years coming from Bryneville. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bratt. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Danny Ray Darby.
Mrs. Darby is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roy B. Darby, Sr. of McDavid; son, Roy B. (Pam) Darby, Jr. of Pace; daughters, Vicki (James) Elliot of East Brewton, and Barbeline Ann McCaw of Century; brother, Curtis Kennedy of Flomaton; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel from 6 until 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Caylor officiating.
Internment will follow in Crary Memorial Cemetery in Century.

Sharon McGhee Peebles

Mrs. Sharon McGhee Peebles, 58, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, in Atmore.
Mrs. Peebles was a native of Atmore and resided in Atmore for most of her life. Mrs. Peebles attended the Friendly Holiness Church. She was a member of the Poarch Creek Indians; she was a foster mother and grandmother to many children and was affectionately known as Grannie Sharon.
Survivors include her husband, Lester C. Peebles of Atmore; two sons, Lawrence (Chastity) Peebles of Poarch and Anthony Gaines (Bridgett) Peebles of Canoe; one brother, Tony Walker of Atmore; four sisters, Darlene (Sam) Hitchcock of Bratt, JoAnn Nellums of Perdido, Donna Sue (Rudy) Marquette of Apachy Junction, AZ, and Carol Jean Mercer of Pensacola; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William Rolin officiating.
Burial will follow at the Judson/Creek Indian Cemetery.

Tommy was a lifelong resident of Pensacola, born on July 22, 1938, to the late Doris & Robert Kroll. At the young age of 74, our beloved father, husband, brother and friend to everyone was tragically taken from us on November 6, 2012.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Kathy. Tommy was an adoring and protective father to his son, Jerry Kroll (Toni) and his daughter, Robyn Michelle Lockhart (Rob). He was a loving and caring grandfather to his grandson Tyler and his granddaughter Simone.
He was a strong family man and the pillar for all of us. Tommy was a hard worker from a young age. As a young boy, he maintained a paper route and worked at a grocery store while always challenging his teachers through his inquisitive nature. At 16, he became an apprentice electrician working his way up to a master electrician by his 20’s. During these years, Tommy also became an avid bowler. Through this new interest he was connected to Kathy, his wife and soulmate. Only a few years after marriage, Tommy and Kathy joined the family business, Echo Bowling Lanes. His career finally meshed with his passion for bowling. He was the first bowler in Pensacola history to carry over a 200 average. He was the first person to be inducted into the Greater Pensacola Hall of Fame for both proprietorship and bowling achievement. He proudly wore his rings for an 800+ series and a 300 game. They also owned Michelle’s Goonyland Golf. After retiring from the bowling center, they purchased Stateline O’Yes Lotto and excelled to the 8th largest lottery retailer in Florida. He not only took great pride in his businesses, but delighted in making friends with all that would pass through. Tommy was a generous, caring and fun loving spirit. He loved animals and never met one that did not adore him. He and Kathy enjoyed travel, especially on cruise ships and to Disney World. He was a highly respected member of the community. In his spare time he enjoyed working in his yard, watching western movies, and going to the casino, but mostly spending time with his family. Tommy was an amazing person and we all miss his constant smile.
In addition to his wife, two children and two grandchildren, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Tat McNeal; brother, Bobby Kroll (Virginia); sister, Glenda Sue Hodgson (Lew); brother, Gary Kroll; sister, Georgia Blain (David); brother, Buddy Kroll; sister-in-law, Elaine Price (Andy), sister-in-law, Trish Eliason (Jim); nephew, Eddie Garrison (Kati); and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 12, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., with a celebration of life to be held at noon at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Humane Society of Pensacola.

Thelma Faye Brown, 93, of Cantonment, passed away Thursday, November 08, 2012, in Pensacola. She was a homemaker, born in Atmore, on July 23, 1919, to the late Alanzo and Mary Jackson McGhee Franklin.
Survivors include one son, Claude Barron, Jr of Pensacola; one daughter, Margaret (Darel) Holland of Cantonment and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 2 p.m at Pine Barren Cemetery.

Marvie Lee Edward Barnett, age 81, of Cantonment, passed away November 7, 2012, at the home that he built surrounded by his loving family. He retired from St. Regis and Stone Paper Mill. Marvie attended Farm Hill Holiness Church and was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Barnett; two daughters, Connie Barnett and Kim (Andy) Blackman; six grandchildren, Derek, Ethan Lee Edward, Nicholas, Christian, Charity and Noah; brother, Ray (Pauline) Barnett; and sister, Evelyn Barnes.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Fonzie Hall, 68, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012, in Canoe.
Mr. Hall was a native of Lottie and resident of Canoe for the past 15 years. Mr. Hall took responsibility to become a husband and father to six boys and two girls and never turned anyone away.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Karen Hall of Canoe; six sons, Chris Adams of Merdianville, AL, Tommy Smith of Poarch, Mycheal Smith of Perdido, Albert Countryman of Walnut Hill, Adam Countryman of Canoe, and Jason Countryman of Poarch; two daughters, Jessica Hall of Poarch and Jenni Hall of Canoe; two brothers, Willie Frank Hall of McCullough and Jack Hall of Atmore; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Friendly Holiness Church with the Rev. Brandon Rowell officiating.
Burial will follow at McCullough Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, November 12, 2012, from 5 p.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m on Tuesday, November 13 at the Friendly Holiness Church.

Fred William Walker, Sr.

Fred William Walker, Sr., age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, surrounded by his family. Fred was one of six children born to Lonnie and Eliza Walker in Atmore. Fred was an Army paratrooper and a veteran of the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. After retiring from many years of driving a truck, Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Eliza Walker; brother, Teddy Walker; and his wife of many years, Mary Arlene Walker.
Fred is survived by three sons, Allen Waldrop, Billy and Danny Walker; three sisters, Annie Ruth Lewis, Polly Carter, and Ginger Jerkins; one brother, Eddie Walker; grandchildren, Rachael Waldrop, Willy and Mary Danielle Walker and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank Sacred Heart Hospital and West Florida Hospice for their care and kindness.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
