Marion “Bud” Albritton

Mr. Marion “Bud” Albritton, 88, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, in Pensacola.
Mr. Albritton was a native of Nokomis (FL) and a former resident of Bratt and Nokomis and has resided in Atmore since 2000. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Atmore Branch. He was retired from Federal Civil Service after 18 years of service and was also retired from Escambia County Florida Road Department where he worked as a fuel truck driver. He loved horses and dogs.
Survivors include his five sons, Ronnie and Linda Albritton of Atmore, Lloyd and Gwen Albritton of Atmore, Phillip Albritton of Atlanta, GA, Greg and Deborah Albritton of Range, AL and Avis and Nelia Albritton of the Philippines; one daughter, Susan Denman of Atmore; three sisters, Jean McGhee of Poarch, Edna Raines of Pensacola and Yvonne Kirkley of Deland, FL; 25 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 28, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Bill Beach, Brother Lloyd Albritton, Brother Greg Albritton and Brother Gary Godwin officiating.
Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Preston Albritton, Steven Albritton, Randy Albritton, Mark Harrell, Preston Routh and Steven Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers will be the VFW and Aaronic Priesthood of Atmore Branch, Jordon Coon, Sammy Ellestad, Donny Ellestad, Brent Akins, Dylan Jones, Kyle Jones and Austin Kyzer.

Betty Ann Hicks
September 25, 2012
Mrs. Betty Ann Hicks, 79, of Atmore, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012, in Atmore. She was native of Seoul, South Korea, and a resident of Atmore since 1972, settling there after traveling the world as an Army wife for 20 years. She was a former employee of K-Mart and Wind Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Hicks and daughter-in-law Audrey Hicks.
Survivors include her three sons. James D. Hicks (Kathy) of Atmore, Donald L. Hicks of Cantonment and Dennis H. Hicks of Atmore; three grandsons, Timothy Hicks (Christy), Anthony Hicks (Sarah) and Daniel Hicks; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Cheyenne Hicks and Hunter James Hicks.
Funeral Services will be Friday, September 28, 2012, at 10 a.m.. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel with Bro. D. L. Harville officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 27, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel in Atmore.
Scott Nelson

Mr. Scott Nelson, 50, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012, in Bratt.
Mr. Nelson was a native and former resident of Brewton and has resided in Bratt for the past 14 years. Mr. Nelson was an employee of Archer-Western Contractors .He attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God in Century. He is preceded in death by his father, Morris Nelson and a son, LCpl-Travis Nelson USMC.
Survivors include his ,mother, Louise Nelson of Brewton; wife, Beckie Sanspree Nelson of Bratt; son, Daniel Scott (Melissa) Nelson of Bratt; twp daughters, Jenna Nelson (Kevin) McCall of Brewton and Anna Nelson of Bratt; and five grandchildren, Quinton Nelson, Amber Nelson, Caitlin Nelson, Aydin Nelson and Jaxon Nelson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 2 p.. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Dwenger officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Lovelace, Earl Self, Danny Self, Jimmy Self, Donnie Dubose and Van Self.

Nellie “Branch” Ward

Mrs. Nellie “Branch” Ward, 92, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, in Jay.
Mrs. Ward was a native of Troy, AL and resident of Jay for the past 69 years. Her last year was spent at Century Care Center. She attended the Pine Level Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, hard worker on the farm and church worker.
Mrs. Ward is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. “Bill” Ward; parents, Sam and Addie Branch; two brothers, J.D. Branch and Kyle Branch; three sisters, Bertha Bell, Bonzie Roten and Voncile Watson.
Survivors include her two sons, James (Shirley) Ward of Pace and Roy (Lillian) Ward of Jay; one brother, Garth Branch of Atmore; two sisters, Louise Sheffield of Troy and Frances Holt of Flomaton and four grandchildren, Sonia Bullock, Karen Welch, Nikki Dole and Tammy Ward.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Pine Level Baptist Church with Rev. Earle Greene officiating.
Burial will follow at the Concord Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Jeffrey Kelley, Don Dean, Heath Marshall, Jeffrey Bauldree, Dexter Hunter, Doyle Marshall, Mark Bauldree and Tony Starling.

Mamie Barlow Walther

Mamie Barlow Walther, 93, of Cantonment passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012. Mrs. Walther was born in Owassa, AL and resided in the Cantonment area for the past 83 years. She was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church and an active member of the Senior Center in Cantonment. Mrs. Walther loved caring for people and worked at University Hospital for ten years. She had a special place in her heart for children and took in foster children for many years.
Survivors include her children, Betty Collins (William), James G. Walther (Kay) and Dennis Wayne Walther (Susan); sister, Lorena Champitto; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Reverends Van Carpenter and Ann Sprague officiating.
For those who wish, memorials may be made the Alzheimers Association.
The family wishes to express their heart felt thank you to the staff of Santa Rosa Health and Rehabilitation Center for the love and care they showed Mrs. Walther.
Franklin Judge Vann

Franklin Judge Vann, age 77 of Jay, died on Thursday, September 20, 2012.
He was a lifelong resident of Jay. He was a member of Ebenezer Church and retired from the Santa Rosa School System. He enjoyed fishing, mowing grass and raking pine straw. He was a kind good hearted person who had many friends and enjoyed talking to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge and Lonnie Vann; sister, Daisey Cox and brother, James Vann.
He is survived by brother Bill (Mildred) Vann; sister, Mittie Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 12-2 p.m. at Ebenezer Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Bobby Carnley officiating services. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Brent “Elroy” Roberts, 55, passed away on September 16, 2012, at an Atmore hospital.
Mr. Roberts was a native of Atmore and has resided in Atmore for most of his life. Mr. Roberts is preceded in death by his father, Erby Lee Roberts.
Survivors include his mother, Melbus Roberts of Atmore; son, Nicholas (Ashlee) Roberts of Atmore; daughter, Ashley (Jason Rousseau) Roberts of Huffman, TX; brother, Darrell (Karen) Roberts of Ozark, MO; three sisters, Lettie Marie (Lawrence) Capers of Gonzalez, LA, Marilyn Parker of Perdido and Deborah (Michael) Doucet of Gonzalez, LA; two grandchildren, Kayden Bryars and Kinsleigh Roberts; two nieces and six nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 20, 2012, Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dorsey McDonald officiating.
Burial was at Guy’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Erby Parker, Charles Dean, Jeremy Rayborn, Nick Agerton, Chris Blackmon and Jimmy Campbell.

Robilyn Olivia “Libby” Whatley, 51, of Walnut Hill, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Pensacola. She was a homemaker, born in Pensacola on April 30, 1961, to Harold and Jackie Hart Harrison, Sr.
She was preceded in death by, her father, Harold Harrison, Sr; brother, Earnie Holden; and cousin, Courtney Talmage.
She is survived by her husband, Willis Whatley of Walnut Hill; mother, Jackie Harrison of Atmore; three sons, Eddie Kirby and Willis R. Whatley, both of Atmore; Walter A. Whatley of North, AL; three daughters, Kristi Kirby of Walnut Hill; Melissa Jay Whatley of Baldwin County; and Crystal Whatley of Tampa; five brothers, Robin Holden and Bobby Harrison both of Atmore, Joey Holden of Thomasville, AL, Harold Harrison II and Micheal Jordan both of Atmore; four sisters, Jackie Flowers of Tuscaloosa; Cheryl Crews of Summerdale; Lisa Noell of Draper, VA and Henrietta Adams of Walnut Hill; and a host of grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, September 19, 2012, Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Weber officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Eunice Powell Brantley Smith, 88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 17, 2012, in Century. She was a homemaker, born in Pollard, AL on September 04, 1924, to the late C.T. and Rachel Nowling Powell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flomaton.
She is preceded in death by husbands, John H. Brantley and Allen Smith; five brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy (Faye) Brantley of Flomaton, Wayne A. (Sandra) Smith and Vernon (Janet) Smith all of Valley, AL; one daughter, Carolyn (Haywood) Rowland of Flomaton; four grandchildren, Bukie Murph, Malett Rowland, John Brantley and Missy Brantley; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Rowland and Jordan Rowland.
Services were held Thursday, September 20, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Flomaton with Rev. Jerry Keese, Rev. J.T. Guyton and Rev. Dustin Stockstill officiating.
Interment was in Flomaton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Mickey Powell, Kenny Powell, Scottie Waller, Jordan Rowland, Speedy Brantley and Dewey Bondurant.

Mr. Billy Ray Downey, 79, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Atmore.
Mr. Downey was a native of Nokomis and a life-long resident of Atmore. Mr. Downey was a retired pipe fitter and a partner at B & J Bait Shop for years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Downey; one son, Marty Downey; and parents Robert and Elma Downey.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie (Terry) Day of McCullough and Debbie Still of Atmore; seven grandchildren, Amy Day, Megan Day, Justin Still, Heidi (Nathan) Dortch, Destiny Downey, Miles Downey and Trinity Downey; seven great-grandchildren, Tristen Boothe, Tanner Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Bailey Knighten, Kirsten Still, Jayden Still and Bryleigh Still.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
