George T. Langford

George T. Langford, 87, of Century, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, in Brewton.

Mr. Langford was native of Escambia County, Florida, and had been a resident of Century for more than 67 years. He was stationed in the South Pacific while serving in the United States Army during World War II. After returning to the states, he was self-employed until his retirement. He served on the Board of Directors of the EREC, formerly the REA, and was instrumental in expanding service to Escambia County, Florida. He was one of the founding members of Central Water Works where he served as president, as well as, in many capacities on the board.

Mr. Langford was born to George Washington and Mary Elizabeth (Dawson) Langford on April 8, 1926. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Mildred (McNeely) and a step-son, Nick Brewton.

He is survived by his second wife, Helen (Gilmore) of McDavid; daughter, Joan (Thomas) Adams of Century; and step-son, Colon Brewton of McDavid; three grandchildren, David (Bobbie) Adams of Flomaton; Alicia (Marty) Chavers of Prattville, AL and Marialena (Carl, Jr.) Godwin of Century; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie Adams of Flomaton, Ethan Chavers and Evan Chavers both of Tuscaloosa, Sydney Chavers of Prattville and Blake (Kim) Wiggins of Century; and one great-great-grandchild, Madyson Wiggins; three step-grandchildren, Jessica Brewton (Chris Smith) of Milton, Joey (David) Morton of Anniston, AL and Asani (Dallas) Hewitt of New Orleans, LA; seven step-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Taylor and Lucas Brewton, Baileigh and Chloe Smith, and Colt and Elaina Morton.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Petty Funeral Home with Brother Mitch Herring officiating.

Interment will follow at Poplar Dell Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Langford’s nephews and grand-nephews; Ricky Wiggins, Gary Wiggins, Jack Brown, Danny Leonard, Henry Leonard and Steve Leonard.

Rebecca Morris

September 5, 2013

Rebecca Morris passed away quietly and peacefully Tuesday, September 3, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 20, 1953, in Mobile to Charles and Mary Ann Shellman. She came into this world crying because she had just left her twin sister Roberta for the first time. Roberta joined her fifteen minutes later and for sixty years they were almost inseparable. She resided in Jay for the past seventeen years. She was a member of Cora Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed going to the beach, clogging, beauty pageants and watching her children and grandchildren cheer and play ball.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Crystal LaJune Morris; and niece, Starla Maxson.

She is survived by her son, Keith (Sheri) Morris and daughter, Christy (Joey) Hutto; grandchildren, Sierra, Travis, and Aiden Hutto and Ashton Walker. She is also survived by sisters, Eva (Billy) Dubose, Roberta (Mickey) Brown and Debbie (Glen) Maxson; one brother, Bill Shellman; sister-in-law, Wanda Shellman; nieces, Angel and Crystal Brown and Susan Cole; nephews, Ricky, Sammy, and Thomas Dubose.

A visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at Jay Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at Cora Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Hutto, Rev. LaDon Hall, and Rev. Henry Shellman officiating services.

Burial will follow at Elim Baptist Church Cemetery in the Roberts, Alabama community at approximately at 4 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Keith Morris, Wade Morris, Cory Shellman, Cameron Shellman, Joey Hutto, and Roy Brown.

Bryan Hart

September 4, 2013

Bryan Hart, 29, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, in a single car accident. He was born on January 6, 1984, and was a resident of the Barrineau Park/Molino community all his life.

Bryan was predeceased by his Granny Hart, and Aunt Frances; his Granny and Paw Paw Caraway; and special friend, Willie Merritt.

Survivors include his father, Roger Glenn Hart and step-mother, Patsy; his mother, Bonnie Bell and step-father, Darryl; brother, James (Joanne) Hart; step-brothers, Johnathon (Maryah) Ard, and Oliver Ard; step-sister, Janie Ard; Paw Paw, Roger E. Hart; Uncle Grady, Aunt Libby and Aunt Eddiemae; nieces, Courtney Hart, Kayla Spencer, Kaiden, McKenzie and Kendalynn Ard; nephews, Dustin Spencer, Jason Seagrave, Samuel, Kaiden and Kyler Ard; numerous cousins and special friends, which includes his former wife, Heather Tarbes.

Bryan was employed with the Century Correctional Institute for the past eight years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He loved his “Florida Gators” equally as much, which was one of many traditions that he shared with his dad and brother, James. Bryan’s Facebook account is testament to his many friends. The family is appreciative of the comments and kind gestures posted by so many that loved Bryan as we did. We will all miss his fun-loving ways, and his funny-story telling. Bryan had a huge impact on family and friends, but none so much as his Paw Paw Hart, whom he lived with this past year and his very special nephew, Samuel. He loved Samuel with his entire being as he did his niece (due this month) little baby Courtney. In Bryan’s words to us all, “I’m gone. Y’all be good. I love ya!”

Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Faith Chapel North. “GO GATORS”

Pallbearers will be Russell McAnally, Joe Grim, Billy Ledkins, Doug Hart, Lamar Flowers, and Jason Terry.

Stephen (Steve) Henderson

Stephen (Steve) Henderson passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2013.

A native of Pensacola, Steve was born on February 21, 1956. He was strong man of few words who never met a stranger, often opening his home and heart to people from all walks of life without passing judgement. He loved his family, friends, and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching athletes from Pensacola succeed and was looking forward to the upcoming football season. His easy going and kind nature will be missed by all who love him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Don Carlos Henderson and Gertrude Henderson (Willliams); and brothers, William (Bill) Henderson and James (Jim) Henderson.

He is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Joe) Henderson, Michael (Mike) Henderson and David Henderson; sisters, Patricia (Patsy) Henderson and Anita Max; daughters, Stephanie Henderson, Kristina Henderson and Jessica Bott (Michael); grandsons, Connor Henderson, Kody Nutt and Coen Bott; and granddaughter, Emily Nutt.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Jacquelyn Yvonne Steely

Mrs. Jacquelyn Yvonne Steely, age 64, of Flomaton passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013, at her home after an extended illness.

Mrs. Steely was a native of Repton, AL and a member of the Flomaton community since 1968 coming from East Brewton. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of East Brewton, and the Lupus Foundation. Mrs. Steely was preceded in death by her father, Lomac Hutcheson; sons, Tommy Steely, Jr. and Keith Steely; brothers, James E. Hutcheson and Gary Hutcheson.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Clara Iletha Hutcheson of East Brewton; husband, Mr. Tommy L. Steely, Sr., of Flomaton; daughter, Ms. Kellie Iletha Steely of Flomaton; and grandson, Tyler Jacob Steely.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Keese officiating.

Inez West Knowles

September 4, 2013

Mrs. Inez West Knowles, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, in Grand Bay, Alabama.

Mrs. Knowles was a native of Bratt and had resided in Irvington, AL for the past 46 years. Mrs. Knowles attended the Faith Baptist Church. Her parents, Lonnie & Zolina West and grandson, Travis Golemon precede her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Knowles of Irvington; two sons, Glenn Mooney of Pensacola  and Floyd Mooney of Bratt; one daughter, Betty Golemon of Irvington; one brother, Cary West of Atmore; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Harold L. Oglesby

Harold L. Oglesby, 76 of Atmore, passed away Sunday, September 1,2013, at his residence. He was a retired building inspector for the City of Atmore. He was born in Pensacola on September 29, 1936, to the late Thomas and Eunice Gentry Oglesby.

Mr. Oglesby was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Velvarae Dempsey Oglesby of  Atmore; two sons, Kenneth (Ksenia) Oglesby of West Lafayette, IN, Thomas Oglesby of Marengo, IA; one daughter, Rebecca Oglesby of Atmore; two brothers, Thomas (Terri) Oglesby of Ashland City, TN and Don (Christine) Oglesby of Milton; and one sister, Helen (Robert) Spohn Pensacola.

Services will be Thursday, September 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Atmore Memorial Chapel with Minister Billy Randolph and Minister Brad Sullivan officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Levon Eugene Howell

September 3, 2013

Mr. Levon Eugene Howell 74, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013, in Century.

Mr. Howell was a native of Brewton and had resided in Flomaton for the past 52 years. Mr. Howell was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His parents, George and Vera Howell, seven brothers and sisters and one grandson, George Caleb Hallford, precede Mr. Howell in death.

Survivors include his wife, Melva L. Knowles Howell of Flomaton; one son, Paul Levon Howell ( Samantha Kay) of Flomaton; three daughters, JoAnne Chavers (Will), Sandra Howell Hallford (George) and Sharon K. Baggett (David) all of Flomaton; one brother, Randal Howell of Brewton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart and Rev. David Baggett officiating.

Burial was held at the Lambeth-Boutwell Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ethan Howell, Jesse Baggett, Kevin Knowles, Tim Howell, Lance Howell and Rod Harper.

Billy Don Fielder

September 3, 2013

Billy Don Fielder, age 74, of Milton, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, August 31, 2013. He was born August 31, 1939, in Fordyce, Arkansas to the late Hazen Rine Fielder and Mary Frances Draper Fielder.

Billy started his career in the printing business right out of high school and continued it for the rest of his working career in the Gulf Coast area. He loved woodworking, coaching T-ball and baseball, camping and fishing. The last few years, Billy enjoyed simply sitting by a camp fire watching the flames burn while reflecting his thoughts.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Fielder.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 27 years, Audrey Mae Fielder; sons and daughters-in-love, Sam (SueGee) Fielder, Donnie (Stacey) Fielder, Kevin (Jenean) Fielder, Wesley Fielder, Frank (Margo) Wyatt and Jared (Melissa) Wyatt; brother, Bobby (Winonna) Fielder; grandchildren, William, Linda, Anthony, Megan, Jace, Karen, Connie, Julia and Tannin; and great-grandchildren, Kendell, Elizabeth, and Hailey.

Home going celebrations will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton with Brother Mike Wiggins officiating.

Interment will follow in Milton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pine Terrace Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mary Virginia Phillips Ealy Dorman

September 3, 2013

Mary Virginia Phillips Ealy Dorman, age 86, died peacefully on September 1, 2013.  Mary was born October 11, 1926, in Atmore, and is the daughter of Della Walker Phillips Albritton and Joseph Thomas Phillips.

Mary was a born again Christian and now resides in her heavenly home.

Mary grew up in Poarch and is a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.  She lived many years in the Pensacola area; however, she returned home to Poarch in 2009 where she lived until becoming a resident of the Century Care Nursing Home in Century in 2012.

Family was the center of Mary’s life.  She is survived by her three sisters, Emma Cleo Phillips Keating, Pauline J. Phillips Parker and Patricia Ann Albritton Smillie; three sons, Phillip Loyd Ealy of Pensacola, Roy Edward Ealy of Milton, and Jessie Allen Dorman of Poarch; five daughters, Joann Ealy Deriemacker of Pensacola, Virginia Kay Ealy Simmons of Poarch, Odessa Lynn Dorman Woodcock of Poarch, Paula Denise Dorman Clemens of Poarch and Carrie Sue Dorman Henry of Pensacola.  Mary is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be Wednesday, September 4 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment.

The funeral will be conducted from the chapel of Faith Chapel North on Thursday, September 5, at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Clopton Cemetery  in Pensacola.
