Maxine T. Brown

Maxine T. Brown, 82, of Huxford, Ala., passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born in Millry, Alabama on April 20, 1931, to the late George and Vernelle Britton Tew, her family later settled in the Huxford community. As a homemaker, Mrs. Brown enjoyed gardening, cooking and her involvement in First Baptist Church of Atmore, where she was a member.
Mrs. Brown in preceded in death by her son, Bobby Beech; daughter, Maudie Ridgeway; and brother, George Tew, Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Wilbur T. Brown; son, Mike Beech; daughter, Martha (Greg) Watts; son-in-law, Billie Ridgeway; five brothers, Prentice Tew, Ray Tew, Walter “T” Tew, Clatis Tew, and Delmer Tew; two sisters, Pearl Gant and Faye Hester; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Brown and Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Murray Ikner, Britton Ikner, Ross Beech, Jon Michael Beech, Ben Odom, and Wedenall Middleton.

Michael Bryan Hart

Michael Bryan Hart, 53, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 13, 2013.
He was born in Tacoma, WA. Formerly a resident of Foley, Michael served as an officer with the Foley Police Department and as a deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department. After 12 years he left his law enforcement career to service Christ as a missionary in Mexico. He most recently served in Veracruz, through Good Samaritan Baptist Church under the auspice of Baptist International Missions, Inc.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Teresa (Dawson) Hart; their children: Bryan (Hannah) Hart of Killeen, TX, and Kayln Rochelle of Havelock, NC; grandson Bradley and granddaughter Kallianne. He is also survived by his mother Barbara Hart of Fole; brother Bill (Sandra) Hart; sisters: Bonnie (Mike) Davis; Brenda (Buck) Steadham; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The visitation will be Monday, September 16 from 5-7 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Cantonment. The funeral service will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from the chapel of Enon Baptist Church, 7121 Highway 97A, Walnut Hill, with Pastor Rick Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Hart, Bill Hart, Mike Davis, Buck Steadham, Gary Dawson and Dan Mahone. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Iglesia Bautista de la Fe building Fund through BIMI, a missionary of your choice, or to Covenant Hospice. Ann Manning Tomlinson

Ann Manning Tomlinson, age 72, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at Wuesthoff Hospice House in Melbourne, FL, after a brave battle with cancer. Ann was born outside Excel, AL, on May 15, 1941, to Oscar and Annie Lee Manning. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W. Tomlinson.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Lisa Pappas; son-in-law Dimitri and granddaughter, Isabella of London, England; her son and grandsons; her sister, Betty Manning Woolley of Melbourne; her nieces, Mary Woolley Elwell, Rebecca Cox and her husband John, Carla Bradford and her husband David; her nephew, Howard Carl Woolley III and his wife Patricia; and her cousins and their families.
Ann loved school as a child and was a proud graduate of Excel High School in 1959. She had the opportunity to go to her 50th class reunion and loved keeping in touch with her school friends. After her marriage to John they moved to Pensacola where she worked at Chemstrand Corporation. She also worked as a paraprofessional for the Escambia County (FL) School District retiring from Jim Allen Elementary School. Ann and John loved camping, fishing, dancing and cooking for friends. After John’s death she came to live with her sister and niece in Melbourne, Florida.
She will always be remembered with love and admiration by all who knew her. Special thanks to the family of Betty Manning Woolley for the loving care they gave Ann in her last years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be at New Home Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville.
Ernestine Trawick Kelly

Mrs. Ernestine Trawick Kelly age 81, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013, in a Baldwin County hospital.
Mrs. Kelly was a native and long time resident of Flomaton. She was a member of the Flomaton High School class of 1949, and worked as a care giver at the Alabama Sheriffs Girls Ranch for a number of years. She had been living in the Stapleton area for the past year. She was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church and attended White House Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Ruia and Cora Ruth Golden Trawick; a brother, Carlo Clayton Trawick and her husbands, Joseph Grover Kelly, Jr. and Edd Leigh Kelly.
She is survived by two sons, Reverand Carl (Deborah) Kelly of Dadeville, AL and Henry (Stephanie) Kelly of Bay Minette; daughter, Lou Wanda Smith of Blythe, CA; six grandchildren, Tabitha Smith Ochoa, John Raymond Smith, Jr., Shawn Christopher Smith, Rebecca Shea Kelly Kitchen, Lindsey Ruth Kelly, and Joseph Carlo Kelly, Jr.; eleven great-grandchildren; and all the girls and boys she cared for while working with the Alabama Sheriffs Ranches.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in Pollard Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 16, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Clint Perez, Petey Blackwell, Caleb Powers, John Smith, Luke Smith and Joseph Kelly.
Marvin “Hippie” John Odom

Mr. Marvin ‘Hippie John Odom, age 59 of Century, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, in a Milton health care facility.
Mr. Odom was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Century since 1967. During his working years, he worked as a mechanic in the automotive industry. Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Justine Bozes Odom; brothers, Paul Schmolke and Harvey Henry Odom, III. He was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by brothers, Carl Schmolke of Breaux Bridge, LA; D.C. (Merle) Odom and J.P. Odom, all of Century; sisters, Lois (Shep) Burkett of Flomaton, Pearl Macks and Rose (Willie) Wilson, all of Century, FL; cousins, Ricky Odom and Sherry Odom, both of Century; special friends, Lindy Hawsey and Linda Black, both of Atmore.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013, from 10 a.m. until services being at 11 a.m. Rev. Eric Bryan will be officiating at Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Church in Century.
Interment will be in Beulah Chapel Assembly of God Cemetery in Century.

Deborah Hardy (Uphold) age 43, of Jay, died on September 10, 2013, in Jay. She was a long time resident of Jay. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth E. Uphold Sr.; sisters, Deborah Lynn Uphold and Jackie Kiser; brother, Kenneth Uphold Jr.; grandfather, Charles Uphold; aunt, Gladys Bennett and uncle, Manuel Bennett (Bud).
She is survived by her daughters, Shonda (Thomas) Routley, Samantha Uphold and Tiffany Uphold; mother, Betty Uphold; sisters, Sherry (Kenneth) Heinz, and Cathy (Ronald) Golembiewski; brothers, Jeffery Uphold, and Gary (Patricia) Uphold and her fiancé, Wayne Long. She is also survived by her grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Watson of My Father’s Vineyard officiating services. Burial will follow at New Beginning (United Pentecostal Church of Berrydale Cemetery).
A reception will follow after funeral at the New Beginning Church. Friends please bring a covered dish and drink.

Sarah Frances Thomas Schwartz, 71 of San Antonio, TX, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013, in San Antonio. She was a retired service representative for the Social Security Administration. She was born in Bay Springs, FL, to the late Jim and Clara Belle Caraway Thomas on December 24, 1941.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Luther Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, Paul Thomas, Molly Glover and Polly Harphant.
Survivors include three sons, Don Schwartz and Vincent Edward (Lisa) Schwartz, all of San Antonio and Anthony (Shera) Schwartz of California; one daughter, Holly Lorraine Schwartz of San Antonio; one brother, Roy (Nancy) Thomas of Enon; three sisters, Betty Morris of Wawbeek, Corine (Eddie) Boggs and Arena Dawson all of Walnut Hill; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Barren Baptist Cemetery.

Mrs. Judy Faye Blackmon, 73, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, in Davisville.
Mrs. Blackmon was a native of Christian Home and a resident of Davisville for the past 30 years. Mrs. Blackmon was retired from Vanity Fair after 45 years of service. Her parents, Stanley and Mae Holland; two sons, Stephon Eugene McDowell and Eric Edward Amerson; two brothers, Nolan Holland and Wayne Holland precede her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Allen (Shelia) Holland and Mark Holland, all of Byrneville; one daughter, Wendy (Dudley) Wilson of Wawbeek; one brother, Jerry (Mary) Holland of Cantonment; four sisters, Ruth (Charles) Hopkins of McDavid, Doris Amerson of Bratt, Jannie (Pete) Singleton of Walnut Hill and Betty (Kenneth) Blanton of Bratt; six grandchildren, Amiee (Jeremy) Clements, Dustin Holland, Jimmy (Tiffany) Odom, Katrina Odom, Chase (Katie) Amerson and Joshua Holland and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home Pastor Howard Holland with officiating.
Burial will follow at the Christian Home Cemetery.

Wilson Earl Barrow

Mr. Wilson Earl Barrow, Sr., 77, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, in Atmore.
Mr. Barrow was a native of Wawbeek and had resided in Flomaton for the past 30 years. Mr. Barrow was retired from the U.S. Air Force, co-founder of Wawbeek Volunteer Fire Department, past chief and board of directors and present president of the Fire Department. He was the owner and operator of the Wawbeek Antique Store and he attended the Sardis Baptist Church. His parents, Earl & Obie Barrow, precede him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Loetta Barrow of Flomaton; son, Wilson E. (Michele) Barrow, Jr., of Daphne; two brothers, Willie Frank Barrow of Century and Donald Ray Barrow of Atmore; one sister, Margaret Langley of Mobile; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Earle Green officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sardis Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 12, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Christopher Andrew Williams, 44 of Pensacola, was born June 10, 1969 and passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013.
Chris graduated from Rutherford High School in Panama City, FL and University of West Florida in Pensacola. He taught American History at first Pine Forest and then Tate High School. Through colorful stories, he shared his patriotism making our nation’s history come alive for his students and made a point of teaching the blessings of liberty. An avid sportsmen, Chris enjoyed car races, hunting, and in recent years biking. He was a member of the Escambia River Gun Club and the leader of the Black Powder Discipline.
Chris is survived by his wife, Jeanne Arnette Williams of Pensacola; his mother and step-father, Barbara Lancaster and Frank Harrison; sister, Amy W. Witheringtyon, all of Mount Olive, NC; brother, Kristopher Harrison and wife Kasey of Garner, NC; nephew, Drew Witherington; nieces, Abigayle and Lilly Harrison; mother-in-law, Marilyn Arnette, sister-in-law, Cherie Arnette, both of Pensacola; sister-in-law, Carren Quinn and husband, Tommy of Mobile; and nephews Parker and Ryan Quinn.
He was predeceased by his father, Andrew R. Williams of Panama City, FL.
Honorary pallbearers will be Drew Witherington, Kristopher Harrison, Dennis Horimoto, Mike Steele, Dave Brown and Mark Foxworthy.
