Mrs. Gladys B. Ingram, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Mobile.
Mrs. Ingram was a native of Long Beach, Mississippi and a resident of Atmore for the past 15 years. Mrs. Ingram attended the Sardis Baptist Church. Her husband, Rev. Evon Ingram, precedes her in death.
She is survived by her son, Charles Evon (Carolyn) Ingram of Mobile; one daughter, Elsa I. (Edmond) Williams of Mobile; and one sister, Clara Ausgaard of Long Beach, MS.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Taylor and Rev. Earle Greene officiating.
Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ron Latimer, Danny Killam, Lamar Byrd, Mike Barrow, George Hendricks and Jim McCutchin.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Latimer, Arthur Latimer, Peyton Williams, David Matheny and Edwin Bean.

Bernice H. Harrison

Bernice H. Harrison, 86 of Atmore, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Fairhope. She was a homemaker, born in Chicago, Ill. on December 01, 1927, to the late John and Francis Schulte. She was a member of St.Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward Harrison, Jr.; son, John Robert Harrison; and two grandchildren, Blur and Tara Harrison.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Rhonda) Harrison of Summerdale and Bill (Karla) Harrison of Baker; one daughter, Susan (Carl) Bowen of Atmore; daughter-in-law, Beckey Harrison of Magnolia Springs, Ala; two brothers, Eddie (Peggy) Hesse and John (Carolyn) Hesse all of Foley; two sisters, Catherine Lehman of Summerdale, and Mary Ann (Billy) Strain of Richmond, VA; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 11, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. from the St. Roberts Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father Gordon Milsted officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends, Friday, April 11, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

James Tennyson

James Tennyson, age 68 of Molino, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Arab, Alabama.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Trumpetfish as a Torpedoman’s mate out of Charleston, SC from November 1962 until November 1966. After serving in the US. Navy, he was employed in the electrical trade for 20 years. In 1986, he began his employment with Civil Service, retiring in 2004. While at the US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, he received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
His father, James Tennyson and mother, Dorothy Tennyson, precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Tennyson; son, Daniel (Valeria) Tennyson; stepdaughter, Lisa (Christopher) Story; daughter, Stephanie Serbin; son, Stephen Ertz; daughter, Melissa Prewitt; grandsons, Cameron and Christopher Story; sister, Pat (Ed) Lutes; brother, Wilburn Tennyson; sister, Gloria Swann. Jim was profoundly loved by many nieces and nephews, close friends and his church family.
Jim was a member of Dogwood Park Baptist Church in Molino. He truly felt that each person there was his family.
Pallbearers will be Simon Barton, Bob Cummings, Cary Harrington, Chris Story, Devon Swann, DJ Tripp.
Services will be held Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Russell Branch officiating.
Interment following at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

Malcolm C. Straughn, Jr.

Malcolm C. Straughn, Jr. went to be with his Heavenly Father early Saturday morning, April 5, 2014. A lifelong resident of Escambia County, he graduated from Pensacola High School in 1949. After high school, Malcolm worked in the family business, Brownsville Bakery. In 1953, he was one of the first employed at Chemstrand. After 32 years he retired from Monsanto and devoted his time to farming until several years ago.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Edna (Malone) Straughn.
Malcolm is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Jean (Poston) Straughn; his daughter Diane (Alton) Moore of Dahlonega, GA; and two sons, Kirk (Jackie) Straughn of Gonzalez and Ray (Angela) Straughn of Pace. He had nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Survivors also include a brother, Bobby Straughn of Pensacola; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
His celebration of life will April 7, 2014, at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and service to follow at 12 p.m.
Reverend Alton Moore and Hospice Chaplain Jason Adams will officiate.
Burial will be at Godwin cemetery in Bratt.
Pallbearers will be Alton Moore III, Stan Marks, Joshua Marks, Ronnie McNesby, Benjamin Haines and Michael Hemley.

Rufus Wayne McNorton, 67, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at his residence. Mr. McNorton was an electrician and project engineer for different companies overseas. He was a member of Electrician Local IBEW#676. Rufus never met a stranger, was very outgoing, and a friend to many people. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Dorothy McNorton.
He is survived by his brother, Lynn (Betty) McNorton; sisters, Faye (Terry) Boyington and Kaye (Ellis) Perlman; niece, Dana McNorton Hall and a nephew, Michael McGlothlin.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Bill Flannigan.
Interment will follow at Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Arthur “A.J.” Peacock, Jr.

Mr. Arthur “A.J.” Peacock, Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Mobile.
Mr. Peacock was a native and lifelong resident of Little Rock, Alabama. Mr. Peacock was a lifetime member of the Millwright Local #2471 from Pensacola, former Escambia County Constable, owner of the Little Rock Store and founder of the Little Rock Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Peacock was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atmore.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Lucille Peacock of Little Rock, AL; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Don Gordon of Little Rock, AL and granddaughter, Dr. Amber Gordon & Mr. F. Bradford Butler of Birmingham.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Atmore with Rev. Arnold Hendrix and Rev. James E. Dukes, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Butler Street.
Pallbearers will be Steve Reynolds, Ray Singleton, Don Fischer, Lee Roy Peacock, Melvin Byrd and Winston Byrd.

J. Dillon Vickery, 72, of Pensacola, passed away on April 4, 2014. Dillon served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and was a member of the John Birch Society. He had a strong belief of God, Family, and Country, and was an avid reader of the New American. His faith was strong and he was a member of Olive Baptist Church. He owned Vickery Safety and Security and was dedicated to serving his customers. He was affectionately known as “Grandfather” by his grandchildren who he loved so much.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Vivian and Joe Rogers; brother, Raymond, and grandson, Nathan Blair.
Dillon is survived by his wife, Joy Gates Vickery; daughter, Karen Stewart Wood (Bobby); daughter, Kimberly Blair-Greenberg (Richard); grandchildren, Michael, Mitchell, Jonathon, Callie, and Gage; great-granddaughter, Alison; brother, Leonard Rogers, and sister, Melissa Ripa. He also leaves behind many loyal friends and loving neighbors. A special thanks to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
Funeral services were held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment on April 8, 2014. The family will receive visitors from 1:30 p.m. until services begin at 2:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Whitmire Cemetery.

Marvin Earl Hadley, 65 of Perdido, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, in Bay Minette. He was a sales manager with a package store, born in Rabun, Ala., on January 28, 1949, to Marvin Edward and Julie Harville Hadley.
He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Edward Hadley; two brothers, Edward Hadley and Anthony Hadley.
Survivors include his mother, Julie Hadley of Rabun; four nieces, Kimberley Hadley of Pensacola, Tammy Harrelson of Perdido, Shelia K. Paul of California and Angie Cowart of Pine Grove, Ala; one nephew, Clayton Hadley of Rabun and great nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Services will be Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.
Interment will follow in Guy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Harry Brown, age 83 of Pensacola, peacefully went to his eternal home on Saturday, April 5, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean Brown and their children, Michael (Teri) Brown of Chumuckla, John (Kristina) Brown of Madison, OH, Beverly Brown of Naples, FL, Yvonne (Robert) Bliss of North Carolina, Peggy (Dennis) Genebach of Utah, Renee (Michael) Brown of Chumuckla and Judy (Gary) Owens of Jay. Harry is also survived by 15 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Peppy.
He loved traveling and camping with his wife, gardening and was an avid bird watcher. Harry also enjoyed woodworking and researching his family genealogy. He never met a stranger and always had a great sense of humor. Harry was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired Civil Service Machinist.
At Harry’s request no service will be held. Harry leaves behind a family who will miss him and lovingly cherish his memory.

Robert Jeffrey Shreffler, 56, of Century, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014. He was born to Robert and Mary Shreffler on May 5, 1957, in Sharon, PA. Bob was a loving husband for 36 years and an amazing father for 34 years. Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving on the USS Hunley. He retired from the Department of Defense after serving over 30 years. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Atmore.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shreffler; father, Robert B. Shreffler and his sisters, Nancy and Debra Shreffler.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Shreffler; son and his wife, Bobby Shreffler (Kelly); grandsons, Peyton Shreffler and Landon Shreffler; sister, Kathleen Chomor; nieces, Jodi Evans and Jacki Ramsey; and a brother and his wife, Brian Schreffler (Liz).
Pallbearers will be Bobby Schreffler, Brian Schreffler, John Grzejka, Will Carter, Jerry Phillips and Jonathan Flowers.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 12 p.m., on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Jim Thorpe officiating.
