Joseph Hatcher

Mr. Joseph “Jake” Hatcher, Jr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Hatcher was a native and former resident of Pensacola, FL and had resided in Atmore, AL since 1992. He was a member of the IBEW Union of Pensacola, former Mason, Shriner and was an avid drag racer. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Betty Hatcher.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Chavers Hatcher of Atmore, AL; one son, Joseph Crawford “Jody” (Kim) Hatcher, III of Pace, FL; one step-son, Michael (Kathy) Chavers of Century, FL; one step-daughter, Libby Chavers (Ryan) Wright of Jacksonville, AR; one brother, Jimmy (Cindy) Hatcher of Pensacola, FL; one sister, Beth Hatcher of Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Kathy Chavers and Jim Brown officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 from 1 p.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Jean Therese Owens

November 18, 2016

Jean Therese Owens, 87, of Cantonment, FL, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas B. Owens; her parents, John and Hazel Marshall; grandson, Eric Crowley; and her sister, Ruth Madden.

She is survived by her sons, Paul Douglas (Pat) Owens and David Owens; daughter, Lisa Owens; granddaughters, Selena (Robert) Arnold of Navarre, FL, Kristena Owens of Panama City, FL and Melody Owens; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 18, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Stanton officiating.

Interment was at Eastern Gate Cemetery.

Deborah Flowers Digmon

November 18, 2016

Mrs. Deborah Flowers Digmon, 60, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, in Hampton, GA. She was born on December 15, 1955, to the late C.W. “Tobe” and Zelma Flowers.

Mrs. Digmon was a native of Atmore, Alabama and had been living in Georgia for the past 20 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Glenn Digmon; her parents; three brothers, Edward Flowers, James Flowers, and Curtis Flowers; and three sisters, Claudette Burkette, Brenda Flowers, and Annette Strength.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheena Baker of Hampton, GA; one brother, Danny Flowers of Molino, FL; grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Baker.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Turberville officiating.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Julia Diane Ballard

November 18, 2016

Beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend Diane left our world to join the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2016, after many long years of illness. She is preceded by her  mother and father, Peggy and James Nobles.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jim Ballard; son, Ryan Ballard; daughter, Amy Carmona; nine grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Steve Dennis; her nieces, Kelly Dennis and Kristine Moore; Carolyn Nobles, her aunt, as well as many cousins and lifelong friends.

Diane loved to cook and bake. She was an avid gardener, crafter and loved helping animals. She loved antiques and anything southern.

Services were held Friday, November 18, 2016, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Chris Pinney officiating.

Interment was at Roberts Cemetery.

Phillip Roger Bryant

Phillip Roger Bryant, of Cantonment, age 53, was called home November 3, 1916. He was born June 18, 1963, in Lucedale, MS, to the late Louia and Marilyn Joyce Bryant. Phillip was a proud graduate of Tate High School. He worked for over 17 years at Armstrong World Industries, and previously at Westinghouse. Phillip was happiest when riding his motorcycle or on an adventure in the mountains. He was baptized at The First Baptist Church of Cantonment and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Phillip was a 32nd degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite at Cantonment Lodge #322.

He is predeceased by his parents; siblings, Teretha Joyce Kimmons, Beverly Powers, and Louia Earl Bryant.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Betty; his step-children, Wes Rogers, of Mobile, Jamie Rogers, and Jackie Rogers Hardy; brother from another mother, Ben (Cherie) Cartwright; grandchildren, Bailey, Logan, and Laney; siblings, Steven Douglas (Karen) Bryant, and Kim (Ed “Ski”) Sadowski; nephew, Sutton Bryant; nieces, Carian Kimmons and Jessica Cartwright; and many friends and brother masons.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with memorial service following at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North on Saturday, November 12, 2016.

Eric Leon Rolin

Mr. Eric Leon Rolin, 46, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016, in Booneville, Alabama.

Mr. Rolin was a native of Poarch, AL and a resident of Booneville, AL for most of his life. Mr. Rolin loved farming, was a truck driver and a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Lee Rolin; grandparents, Woodrow and Estle Rolin; grandfather, Milton Sells; nephew, Ethan Warden; and two uncles, Melvin Sells and Van Sells.

He is survived by his mother, Hattie Sells Knowles of Poarch, AL; wife, Kimberly Hardy Rolin of Booneville, AL; one son, Coty (Brooke) Rolin of Poarch, AL; one brother, Waylon (Valorie) Rolin of Poarch, AL; one sister, Janet (Mitch Hammack) Welch of Range, AL and one granddaughter, Zhoie Rolin.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating.

Burial was at the New Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Andrews, Shawn Rolin, Ron Marshall, Clint Lassiter, Eddie Jackson and Shelton Sells.

Honorary pallbearers were Dillon Rolin, Brady Rolin and Damon Rolin.

Georgie Mae Kyles Showers

Georgie Mae Kyles Showers was born on March 11, 1927, in Franklin, Alabama to the late Adam and Nancy Kyles, Ur. She attended school in Franklin, Alabama. She was a homemaker but also worked at KFC and did child care.

She was a member of Bethel AFM Church of God for over 60 years. Mother Showers loved her family, church and friends.

On October 8, 2016, Mother Showers found eternal peace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Showers; son, Robert Lee Kyles; and, daughter, Debra Ann Fountain.

She leaves to cherish and mourn in pleasant memories four children, Eliza Walker-Scott of Jacksonville, FL; Arthur Bradley Jr. (Mae Carol) of Pearlington, MS; Dr. Willie D. Bradely (Deater) of Cleveland, OH; and, Georgia Lee Bailey (Charles) of Jackson, MI; two sisters, Mary Alice Peavy and Jane Alice Kyles of Atmore, AL; three brothers, James Kyles (Ora-D) of Atmore, AL; Leonard Kyles; and, LeRoy Kyles (Diane) of Chicago, IL; 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Interment was in Century Cemetery.

Pallbearers and Flower bearers were family and friends.

Final arrangements were entrusted to Jackson McMurray Funeral Home of Century, FL.

Jesse Sewell Stanton

November 10, 2016

Jesse Sewell Stanton, 87 of Atmore, AL, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, in Atmore, AL. He was a retired farmer, born on December 16, 1928, in Atmore to the late Jesse and Pauline “Polly” Sewell Stanton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars.

He is preceded in death by his Aunt Rene Stanton.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Gladys Moye Stanton; two sons, Dennis (Lee Ann) Stanton and Charles Stanton, all of Robinsonville, AL; one daughter, Judy (Steve) Lambert of Robertsdale, AL; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Larry W. Renfroe officiating.

Interment was in Canoe United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Wade Kirby, Jason Kirby, Gary Helton, Roger Helton, Butch Black and Chris Black.

Honorary was the VFW.

Louise Beane

November 10, 2016

Louise Beane, 89, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on November7, 2016, of natural causes. Louise was born in Pensacola on January 2, 1927. She graduated from Pensacola High School.
Louise worked as a dispatcher for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and as a Correctional Officer for the Escambia County Jail for 28 years. She enjoyed watching golf, football, and baseball, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

Louise is survived by her four children, Patricia Bryan, Nancy Moore, Vicky Peavy, and Sonny Beane; her grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Queenie White; her sister, Leona Polsky; and her brother, Gene White.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on November 11, 2016, at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Faith Chapel North Funeral Home.

Clayton Lawton Flowers

Clayton Lawton Flowers, 75 of Nokomis, AL, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, in Mobile, AL. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was born in Atmore, AL on February 7, 1941, to the late Gay and Grace White Flowers. He attended Presley Street Church of Christ, was a flight instructor, barber and farmer.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Jane Flowers; siblings, Winston Flowers, Joyce Flowers Nall, and Betty Flowers Norris.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Flowers; one son, Scotty (Karen) Flowers all of Nokomis, AL; two daughters, Cyndi Flowers McGhee of Spanish Fort, AL and Amanda Flowers (Tripp) Dawson of Nokomis, AL; one sister, Evelyn Flowers (Jim) Pipkin of Nokomis, AL; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, November 2, 2016, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Davis and Bro. John Coleman officiating.

Interment was in Godwin Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Adam McGhee, Cameron McGhee, Nicholas Flowers, Bradley Flowers, Josh Turner, and Brian Huskey.

Honorary pallbearers were Wayne White, Ronnie Barnhill, Don Flowers, Randy McKinley, Chuck Flowers, and Jimmy Flowers.
