Mrs. Joanna Arrington Barrow, 46, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017, in Century, Florida.

Mrs. Barrow was a native of Montgomery, AL and had resided in Century, FL since 1982. She was a member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Dorothy Arrington; one brother, Jesse Arrington; and one sister, Belinda Miano.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Pastor Robert Barrow of Century, FL; three sons, Ryne (Bethany) Barrow of Bratt, FL, Zachary (Lauren) Barrow of Century, FL and Kevin (Courtney) Barrow of Century, FL; two brothers, David (Deborah) Arrington of Flomaton, AL and Daniel Arrington of Flomaton, AL; and one sister, Bonnie (Steve) Jackson of Wrightstown, N.J.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Faith Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Barrow officiating.

Burial will follow at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Faith Bible Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Bill Hughen, David Hughen, Jeff Kelly, Tony Nolen, Jeremy Bondurant and Buck Lowery.

Rachel Davis

January 31, 2017

Rachel Davis, 92 of Atmore, AL, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, in Atmore. She was a bank teller. She was born on March 28, 1924, to the late Leon and Sudie McKenzie Davis.

She is preceded in death by five sisters, Mable Davis, Grace Lowrey, Ruby Ceil Cooper, Hazel Davis and Euleon Gates.

She is survived by her nephew, Buddy (Cathy) Lowrey and friends.

Graveside services will be Friday, February 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. Robert Heard officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Nancy Allen Hollis Bartley

January 31, 2017

Nancy Allene Hollis Bartley of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, in Atmore, Alabama at the age of 88. She was born on October 4, 1928, in Gadsden, AL to E. Lamar Hollis and Grace Hooper Hollis who preceded her in death. They moved to the Walnut Hill area at an early age. She graduated from Ernest Ward High School in 1947. After graduating from high school she worked at Southland Telephone and later worked at Chemstrand. She and Ernest worked with Manna Food Bank through Council on Aging. Ernest preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church were she was very active. She was a member of the Century Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by two step-children, Robert and wife Nina Bartley of Walnut Hill, FL and Faye and husband, Bonnie Franklin of Fort Payne, AL; one step-grandson, Scott and wife, Brenda Bartley of Pensacola; one aunt, Diane Goodwin of Pell City, AL. Nancy had requested that her body be donated to science. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Elmer Lauris Skipper

January 31, 2017

Elmer Lauris Skipper, age 71, of Cantonment, passed away with his family at his side Wednesday, January 25, 2017. He was born in Excel, AL on August 08, 1945, to the late Elmer Crawford and Sarah Elberta Skipper. Elmer graduated from Excel High School in 1963, after which he served two years in the U.S. Army. He was the youngest of four children. Friends and family knew him as “Snake Eye.” Elmer relocated to Pensacola in 1975, where in 1980, he married the love of his life, Charlotte. He retired after 34 years of service to Solutia in 2001.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edna Earle Browning; and brothers, Marion Lee Skipper and Harold Thomas Skipper.

He is survived by his devoted wife Charlotte; children, Michael Tracy Long of Crestview, Jeffrey Lauris Long of Crestview, Staphanie Ann Jarman, and Greg Scott Skipper; grandchildren, Jason Kristian Jarman, Ian Scott Jarman and Kalleigh Ann Jarman; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Special thanks to the physicians and nurses of Covenant Hospice for their comfort and care.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. until the service begins at 11:30am at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Bro. Glenn Vaughn of Victory Assembly of God Church in Molino will officiate.

Interment with military honors will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.

Lewis Lavon Bradley

January 30, 2017

Lewis “Buddy” Lavon Bradley, age 76, of Wolf Log Road in Flomaton, Alabama, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Dixie, Alabama. Mr. Bradley attended Pleasant Home Baptist Church. He attended W.S. Neal School. He was a former member of the Brooklyn Masonic Lodge and was a retired truck driver from T.R. Miller Mill Company.

Survivors include one son, Lavon (Angela) Bradley of Flomaton, Alabama; one daughter, Donna (Donnie) Moye of Rock Creek, Alabama; one brother, Robert Bradley of Dixie, Alabama; two sisters, Carolyn Bradley of Jay, Florida and Margaret Ashworth of Berrydale, Florida; four grandchildren; Nikki Flowers, Ashley Bradley, Jonathon Qualls, Whitney Qualls; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by an infant brother;  two brothers, J.D. Bradley and W.D. Bradley; and two sisters, JoAnn Ballweber and Glenda “Nancy” Wooley.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Kelly officiating.

Interment will follow in Mancil Cemetery Dixie, Alabama.

Robert Emmons

Mr. Robert “Bobby” Emmons, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, in Little River, Alabama.

Mr. Emmons was a native of Rabun, AL and a resident of Little River, AL for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was an employee with the Baldwin County Landfill and the Alabama State Docks. He was a member of the Guy’s Chapel Methodist Church and attended the Mineola Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Charles Emmons; parents, Robert and Mary Helen Emmons; and a brother, Dennis Von Emmons.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Emmons of Little River, AL; one daughter, Carol Ann Emmons Brown of Rabun, AL; three sisters, Joyce Roberson of Nokomis, AL, Gwen McGraw of Bay Minette, AL and Judy Thames of Bay Minette, AL; two grandchildren, Troy Lee Emmons and Joshua Lee Brown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow at Phillips Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Brooks, Rodney Brooks, James Johnson, Tom Thomas, Greg Phillips and Jerrimie Bryars.

Honorary pallbearers will be Turner Brooks and Bill Phillips.

Lucia Margariet Smith, 92, of Molino, FL passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong member of Molino, FL and was a member of Victory Assembly of God Church. Ms. Smith was a very hard working, loving wife and mother. She was a wonderful grandmother to numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Charlie and Nora Denham; her loving husband, Elluard J. Smith; sisters, Betty Denham and Marie Caro; brothers, Bill Denham and Gail Denham; granddaughters, Tammy Smith and Samantha Nowlin; and her great-grandson, Daniel Smith.

She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Sharon) Smith, Charles Smith, Willie (Kay) Smith, Roger Smith and Paul Smith; daughters, Wanda (Robert) Cushing, Deborah (Cleve) Cushing and Hazel (Steve) Wilson; adoptive daughter, Leona (Donnie) Gafford; and stepdaughter, Helen Jolley.

Pallbearers will be Matt Smith, Michael Smith, Luman Wilson, Don Edmonson, Donnie Gafford and David Denham, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cleve Cushing and Steve Wilson.

Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with funeral services to follow at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Johnson will be officiating.

Roger “Dale” Brunson

January 25, 2017

Roger “Dale” Brunson, age 60 passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at his home in the Gandyville Community of Century, FL.

Dale was a lifelong resident of Century, graduating Century High School. Dale loved trucks and followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather driving 18 wheelers long distance and later in life driving for trucking companies locally. He was a master at playing drums; he played drums in the high school band and played in several local garage bands. He never had a lesson but there was nothing he couldn’t play.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents Grover Brunson and Flora Ann Jernigan Brunson; Grandparents Ed and Gladys Brunson, Fred and Stella Jernigan, and a special Aunt and Uncle Haynes and Elmira Crapps.

Dale is survived by his sister, Charlotte Field (Scott), a niece, Heather Phillips (Chris), great nephew Hayden Phillips all of Pensacola, an Aunt and Uncle Freddy and Jackie Jernigan of Milton, Aunt Mary Stinebaugh of Farmersville, Texas, special cousins Doris and George Chavers of Century, He also leaves behind numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Poplar Dell Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the Poplar Dell Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Simmons, Greg Hunter, Steve Newberry, George Chavers, Carl Gandy and Fred H. Jernigan, Jr.

Johnny Wayne “Fatback” Bonner

Johnny Wayne “Fatback” Bonner, 47, of Pace, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Johnny was born January 22, 1970 in Pensacola, FL.

He was a loving father to his 2 children, “Pawpaw Fatback” to his 3 grandchildren, a caring son and brother, and a friend to many. Johnny never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He loved hunting, riding motorcycles and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Johnny Mack Bonner; and father-in-law, Jerry “Coon Hunter” Haupert.

He is survived by his children: Ashley Bonner (Clay Cummings), Jody Bonner, Zac Tipton, and Jaiden Morris; grandsons, Tripp, Brantley, and Taiten; his mother, Deborah (Mike) Minda; step-mother, Paula Bonner; sisters: Laurie (Frank) Berry, Haley (Aaron) Skipper, and Donna (Randy) Paul; fiancé Jennifer Morris; and countless other family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the American Legion Post 340, 8890 Ashland Ave, Pensacola, FL.

Edward E. Holt

January 24, 2017

Edward E. Holt, 95, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2017. He was a World War II veteran and honorably served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, Edward became the owner/operator of Auto Air of Florida located on Pine Forest Rd. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and an active member of the Lion’s Club.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ghant and Clara Lou (Robbins) Holt; sisters, Elizabeth (Holt) Hines and Ruth (Holt) Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marguerite (Hanks) Holt; his sister, Gladys (Holt) Grabowski; and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24,2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Services were officiated by Reverend Barry Howard.

Interment was in Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Legion, Gideon’s Organization or Samaritans’ Purse.
