Lyman Allen Quinley

On Monday, March 9, 2020, Lyman Allen Quinley, a loving stepfather, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at the age of 66. Lyman Allen Quinley was born in Bay Minette, Alabama, to Willie Mae Dixon
Quinley and Lyman Quinley on March 16, 1953.

He was preceded in death by his wife Faye Quinley, Mother Willie Mae Dixon Quinley, and father Lyman Quinley.

He is survived by his stepsons Tony (Sheron)Nall of Milton, Florida, and Gary (Carmen) Nall of Opelousas, Louisiana, and one stepdaughter Cathy (Duane) Bond of Century, Florida. Also, a sister, Saber Ann Simmons of Stapleton, Alabama and brothers Charles Michael Quinley, Thomas Kevin (Diann) Quinley of Stapleton, Alabama. Paul Timothy (Margaret) Quinley of Bay Minette, Alabama, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

Lyman graduated from West Point Military Academy and was a Vietnam vet. He then went on to work for Exxon Mobile for 30 plus years until he retired in 2014. In his free time, Lyman enjoyed working as an auctioneer and car salesman. He made Canoe, Alabama, his final home where he and his wife Faye made some beautiful memories together.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Rest in Peace Lyman Quinley. You will be missed dearly.

Donald Gray Welch

Donald Gray Welch resident of Cantonment, FL, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the age of 88. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on August 21, 1931, to the late Laurie Thomas Welch and Mary Ozelle Overcash Welch. Donald was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. He was also very active in the Civil Air Patrol. Donald retired from civil service as an aircraft electrician.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tommie Faye Welch; son, Gregory Thomas Welch; and grandson, Casey Eugene Bass.

Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Brown Welch; daughters, Donna Gay (Larry) Bass and Joy (Jim) Whaley; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Sylvia Mathis; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:45 p.m. at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Friday, March 20, 2020.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church or Covenant Care Hospice.

Raymond Ray Goodale

Raymond Ray Goodale 73, of  McDavid, Fl., passed away on March  9, 2020 at the home of his son in Pace, FL.

Raymond “Bud” Goodale was born in Pensacola, FL, to George and Margie Goodale on September 30, 1946.  He attended and graduated Ernest Ward High School where he was part of  Future Farmers of America and played high school football.  He worked as a custom cabinet and furniture carpenter for many years. Raymond also enjoyed hunting and fishing with family.

Raymond is preceded in death by his father, George Goodale; brother, Howard Goodale; sister-in-law, Nellie Goodale; niece, Beth Goodale; and great-grandson, Myles Hart.

Raymond is survived by his son, Mikele Goodale (Janet Carol); daughter, Kimberly Ballinger; the mother of his children, Peggy Griffin; grandchildren, Kayleigh Hart (Jonathan), Joshua Goodale (Kaitlyn), Dallas Goodale (Kayla), Taten Swanson (Avigail), and Alyson Goodale; great-grandchildren, Ayden, Emma, Chloe, Ella Kate, Brantley, Taylor, Zac, and Raelynn; mother, Margie Goodale-Boutwell; brother and sisters, Carlis Goodale, Janice Allen (Robert), Edward Goodale, Carol Askren (Willard); and many nieces and nephews.

The family of Mr. Goodale wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Qader, Dr. Bray, and staff at Select Specialty Hospital; the nursing staff with Covenant Hospice; and Dr. Ballow and Dr. Ibrahim at Baptist Hospital.

Lucille Carlie Conway

Mrs. Lucille Carlie Conway, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Century, Florida.

Mrs. Conway was a native of Repton, AL and had resided in Flomaton, AL for most of her life. She was a former employee of the Shirt Factory of Flomaton, AL, Vanity Fair of Atmore, AL and Chemstrand. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family and serving others and was a member of the Little Escambia Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Conway; parents, Henry and Mamie Morris; son-in-law, Joe Buckley and two brothers, James Morris and Junior Morris.

She is survived by one son, Eddie (Janett) Conway of Flomaton, AL; two daughters, Hazel Buckley of Flomaton, AL and Joan (Gary) Knowles of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Luverne (Edmond) Knowles of Flomaton, AL; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Little Escambia Baptist Church with Bro. Jonathan Hill and Bro. Larry Patterson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Little Escambia Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at the Little Escambia Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Brian Conway, Troy Strength, Kevin Knowles, Jammie Gibson, Larry Knowles and Marcus Knowles.

Tommie Eugene Milstid

Tommie Eugene Milstid, born February 17, 1933, passed away on March 16, 2020.

He passed away peacefully at West Florida Hospital and has moved on to a better place.

He was the eldest son of the late Floyd Milstid, Sr., and he late Maggie Lee Whittington. He was married to Arva Ruth Milstid who passed away before him and his daughters, Janet Michelle Milstid and Kara Christina Milstid, both also passed on to a better place before him.

He is survived by his son Greg Eugene Milstid of Pace, Florida and two brothers, James Edward Milstid and Guy Loyd Milstid of Baldwin County, Alabama, as well as many nephews and nieces. Brothers that have passed away are Issac Melvin Milstid, Junior Floyd Milstid, Charles Rudolph Milstid, and one sister, Ester Valois Hall.

Tommie who was called “Gene” by friends started his young adult life as a farmer in the Perdido, Alabama area, then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and went into the Construction business, mainly constructing commercial metal buildings. After Hurricane Camille, he and his family moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and played a very big part in rebuilding the Gulf Coast. He later became a real estate developer and worked until late in life.

Tommie was liked by everyone and loved by his family and now he has moved on to heaven where he can join those loved ones that passed on before him.

There will be no service at this time out of consideration of others during the current health crisis. He will be cremated which the family feels is best at this time.

John D. Handrop, Sr.

On Friday March 13, 2020, John D. Handrop, Sr., loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 87.

“Johnny” was born in Pensacola, Florida, on September 16, 1932, to Vallie Shelby. His father, John Corbet, passed away and he was raised by his mother and uncle Elijah Shelby. He graduated from Pensacola High School in 1952 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served four years for his country while traveling over 176,268 miles on Navy ships . He then returned to Pensacola to marry his high school sweetheart, Elouise Gates. Together they raised one son, John David, Jr. and two daughters, Tammi and Marilyn.

“Johnny” moved his young family to McDavid, Florida, to live a relaxed country life. He enjoyed cow farming and tending to his many acres of land. He was also a huge fan of FSU football- a passion he passed on to many of his family members. He retired from many years of working at Monsanto. He was loved by everyone he met and was known for his handsome looks, beautiful hair, charming words, compassionate heart, loving mind and at times for being a bit stubborn. He had a passion for dancing at the American Legion and loved being with his treasured partner Vicki Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elouise, mother Vallie Shelby, father (uncle) Elijah Shelby, five brothers, Cecil Handrop, Jack Handrop, Ralph Handrop, James Handrop (died as infant), Everett Handrop (died as infant), and one sister Catherine “Lucille” Perdue Brown.

He is survived in death by his son, John “David”, Jr.; daughters Tammi Hill (Matt) and Marilyn Clifton (Brian); treasured partner of seven years Vicki Smith; grandchildren Danette Wiggins, John Lewis Handrop, Latasha Carraway, Jennifer Marn, Travis Clifton, Tanner Clifton; very special nephew Cecil Handrop; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the Faith Chapel North Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with family gathering at 1 p.m.

Mary Lee Gibbs

Mrs. , age 84, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020 in Monroeville, Alabama.

Mrs. Gibbs was a native of Atmore, AL, former resident of Monroeville, AL and had resided in Gantt, AL for the past 5 years. She was a Teacher’s Associate with the Escambia County Florida School System from 1966 to 1999 and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church of Andalusia, AL. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Lee Gibbs; parents, Allen and Clara Lee; four brothers; one sister and grandson, Scott Gibbs.

She is survived by her three sons, Tony (Wanda) Gibbs of Walnut Hill, FL, Bob (Pam) Gibbs of Monroeville, AL and Sammy (Annette) Gibbs of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Cheryl Gibbs of Gantt, AL; four grandchildren, Amanda (Greg), Eric (Kirsten), Jessica (Ryan) and Caroline (Michael); eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Diane Everette officiating.

Burial will follow at the Canoe Freewill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews, Greg Babiak, Eric Gibbs, Ryan Lowell, Michael Sonen, Ed Johnson and Russ Johnson.

Michael Edward Eubanks

Michael Edward Eubanks, a husband, father and Papa Mike, passed away on March 8, 2020 at the age of 69.

Mike is survived by his wife of 30 years, Vickie Eubanks; his children, Lanie(David) Sells, Scott Eubanks, Lindsey (Greg) Dumas; his grandchildren, Shelby Sells, Cason Sells, Clay Dumas, Alexis Eubanks, Peyton Rolin, Abigail Eubanks, Tristan Lechner, Summer Vanhoosen; and great grandchild Paris Scott.

He is preceded in death by his son Josh Eubanks, twin brother Dan Eubanks, and parents Jeannine and George William Eubanks.

Mike was born in Atmore, AL on September 27, 1950. Mike enjoyed spending time with family, making memories and a hard days work. His genuine personality and colorful way with words made him unforgettable.

A celebration of life will be held at Annie Jones United Methodist Church, 5040 Arthur Brown Road, Walnut Hill, FL, on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 2 p.m.P.M. Fellowship to follow at his home in Oak Grove.

George McClure Andress

Mr. George McClure Andress, age 80 of Jay, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, in Jay, FL.

Mr. Andress was born in Hybart, AL, and had been a resident of Santa Rosa County since 1978. He was retired from the United States Navy having served in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal (One Bronze Star), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Four Good Conduct Medals, and Letter of Commendation. He enjoyed gardening, was of the Baptist faith, and was preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Manzelle Metts Andress; his wife, Shirley Miller Andress; sister, Martha Irene Griffin, and two infant brothers.

He is survived by his sisters, Ethel (Richard) Thuotte of Crawfordville, FL and Dianne (James) Bohannon of Uriah, AL; special friend, Betty Killam of Poplar Dell Community; a number of nieces and nephews; stepsons, Norman Ott and Jerry Ott of Michigan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. until a noon service time with Rev. Mitch Herring officiating.

Interment will follow in Cora Cemetery in Jay , FL, will full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Mike Killam, Gary Killam, Richard Pierson, Heather Pierson, Frank Griffin, Ethan Nall, Kevin Bohannon, Trevor Harris, Austin Bohannon and Fred Brown.

A special thanks to Dr. Michael Smith, Jay Hospital nurses and staff, Andrews Center Physical Therapy at Jay, the Terrace administration and staff and to Vitas Hospice staff.

Cleveland Elwood Rhoades, Sr.

March 10, 2020

Cleveland Elwood Rhoades, Sr. went home to Heaven on March 8, 2020.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Rhoades; daughter, Connie (Brady) Killam; son, Cleve (Amy) Rhoades; daughter, Laura (William) Bass; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020, at Beulah Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
